Ok! Tig! I have a movie for you-dark, deep, too emotional. Dear Zachary. 😢 it’s amazing. Funny story, the first year I was dating my now wife, I wanted to impress her friends and cooked a big Indian feast for New Year’s Eve. Everyone got too tipsy and we had a cozy New Year’s Day together in snowy Minnesota. We decide to watch a movie and eat with our hang overs and so I suggested this. I immediately hangover pass out. I woke up and literally everyone was crying and mad at me for suggesting this movie. It’s so good!
I'm hoping that the discovery of the news that everyone ate a morning banana gave us the new phrase of "Three against none." ❤ "Two against one" was too divisive for me and my sensitivities. 😂
Handsome….i hope you see this some day. I listen to you guys as I walk my neighborhood. I’m laughing my ass off as people are staring at me. Thank you so much! Fortune…I met you in Burlington VT. I talked to you about my brother that just passed. You made him laugh right till the end. Thank you so much!
Would love to see a question come from someone in Mae's Taskmaster world! Little Alex Horne would be great, or maybe Mae's teammate, the fabulous Jenny Éclair!
As one of those 30-something nerds that plays games like Pokemon/Magic the Gathering, it's always fun seeing kids enjoy it! Fantasy lovers have often been welcoming to me and accepting of my strangeness and I know other queer people who have had similar experiences.
THE most devastating thing I’ve watched was an autobiographical documentary called Silverlake Life: The View From Here. It’s a film by a man with AIDs documenting caring for a partner who was also terminally ill with AIDs. Absolutely gut wrenching, raw, and real and an incredible insight in to the reality of the AIDs crisis. Not for the faint of heart, big content warnings but an amazing insightful film.
52:07 I love my job. I switched careers last October. I am now a coordinator for senior citizen volunteers now. The pay is significantly less and no opportunity for overtime, but it works great for my family's schedule. Also, my mental and physical health is greatly improved. My 2 children and the child that I've been fostering for over a year now love that I come home ready to run around, ride bikes, or whatever other adventures they want to get in to together.
Tig's being happy in your job sentiment was so beautiful... but every time she said "if you're happy".... My brain said "and you know it, clap your hands?" Lol
You all never fail to make me laugh out loud at work. I would recommend to anyone new here to start at the beginning with the first podcast. You will not be sorry. There are references to prior episodes that make the reference even better.
I absolutely love love love doing hair …. Cutting… Coloring… Styling especially blow outs… Updos!!! For me it is “instant gratification” of it all… Having this connection with my clients and watching my services up their whole mood …. Does my heart good making others happy…. ✨
My kids wanted me to learn Pokemon, so I taught them and their friends Magic the Gathering. It totally worked. Now, years later, I get invited to teenage boy Magic drafts, it rules.
Yeah Baby Reinder is incredible, and I really hope the writer (and others) continue and are not deterred by the legal battle. It is really original and great and yeah they can give a disclaimer like it is *based* on a true story if necessary to avoid defamation, but please continue supporting great stories like this, looking at you Netflix.
Dear, Tig, Fortune, and Mae - Handsome. I just heard your podcast with Jeff Probst last night, and I wanted to tell you how inspired I was by your words. I enjoyed the entire podcast. What’s better than three hilarious comedians chatting? Nothing. I love listening to the three of you having a great time. This episode, ua-cam.com/video/ssnmNfsIWX8/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=3085, hit home in a big way. When Tig started by saying, “There is nothing better to me than, and I probably say this on here, but I say this all the time, when people love their job.” Then the three of you started talking about it and Fortune said that it is such a big part of your life. You are right, it is a huge part of your life, and having that feeling of loving what you do and the freedom that goes with it is AWESOME!! I love what I do. I am happy in my relationship, and I am happy in my job. (Tig, I just thought you’d like to know. 😀) "It is a massive chunk of your life.” I love that it makes Tig so happy to hear when people say that. Tig, you said you don’t know why it makes you so happy, and neither do I, but I think it’s because you are such a good person and you can identify with other people's happiness. I think it is quite empathetic and so incredible. I love that you love others' happiness. I also love how you keep it real. When Fortune starts talking about why she never got too bummed at the beginning of her career, when she was working so hard and no traction was happening, she said, “Well, at least I know what I want to do.” Exactly!! It’s taken me ages to figure that out. Tig says, “And seriously, no traction was happening.” I am right there!! BUT I know what I want to do now. "Half the battle is knowing what to work towards." You are so right, Fortune Feimster. We were living in San Jose, California, but moved to Spain. We both quit our jobs and are starting a business called Three Gloves. James is the web designer, and I am the front-end developer. I learned to code, and I LOVE IT!!! Who knew? James kept telling me that he thought I would love to code because I have the mind for it, but while living in California and working at Trader Joe’s, I didn’t have the time to study. Once we moved to Spain, I was working part-time teaching English. So, I had the time, and I saw an ad for a free 60-minute coding course and I took it. After that, I was hooked. I signed up for all the courses I needed to become a front-end developer. It’s been a long life and a long journey so far, but I am finally getting to the point in my life where I know what I want and what I do not want. I want to be happy working with my husband creating beautiful and affordable websites for individuals and small businesses. It’s awesome. Sure, we have only had a few paying clients so far, but we are just starting our business. We are excited and ready to put in the hard work. So, I wanted to thank you all at the Handsome Podcast for your awesome and inspiring chat about being happy. It made me very happy!!! If it is okay with you, I would like to share it on my social media and LinkedIn because I think it will be helpful for others to hear it. Thank you, thank you, and thanks again for chatting with friends on the Handsome Pod!! Cheers!! Sincerely, Celia Corona-Doran www.threegloves.com/
Steel magnolias is just lovely. The variety of characters and relationships- chef’s kiss. Also that clip of the Easter bunny on the bike end is just one of my favourite things.
this episode is everything to me, as a HUGE Survivor Fan. Then Probst is the 'Asker" on the best podcast ever Handsome! - - The fact that Im teaching my 5 year nephew/godson How to Battle in Pokemon right now too. . Yall are the best
Shout out to Mae for repping the k!nk and polyam queers 😂WE know what you're talking about lol (but also I love Tig and Fortune just being like "whoaaaaa tell us all about it")
I'm 32 and I was super into Yu-Gi-Oh! as a kid. I didn't know kids these days still knew about it! It seemed to fall out of popularity over the years. I guess it's had a resurgence? It was huge when I was in elementary school. Among nerds, at least. I watched the show on the WB when it was on, collected cards and played battles, and also watched the original Japanese show with subtitles (it's much darker than the version that aired in the US). I only ever reallt played the card game with my sibling and our friends, though, because when we tried to go to a card tournament at a bookstore, the adult men were really nasty and dismissive to any girls who wanted to play. So the community definitely wasn't for us, but we loved the show. We made fan art and bought pins at anime conventions and stuff. My older sibling and their spouse are both still really into Yu-Gi-Oh! and still cosplay to this day, but I stopped being interested in it during my teen years. It's still very nostalgic for me, though. It was a huge part of my life for so long!
So, yesterday when I was driving to my job as a therapist and mental health trainer, I chose to listen to the podcast because I knew I would be having a serious day. It was the one with Courtney Cox about putting yourself first, and it was so timely for me and my clients who I tell to listen every chance they get. Tig's story about her friend was so right on. I do have one question , though: when is the "Just Eat My Ass" t-shirt coming out?
Not all of us can have our dream job, BUT some of us use our job as the means TO happiness. I'm happy with the things outside of my job that my job enables. I have security and that was more of a need when it came along (I had to have open heart surgery and needed good insurance, etc). I have great benefits that are going to enable me to retire in five years and THEN I can do what I want. Yippee!! We all have different paths... And I listen to this podcast while I work from the comfort of home.🥰 That way I can laugh out loud without scaring my co-workers!
Tig Notaro: I love hearing that people are happy, and watching movies that gut me. The hardest I've ever cried from watching something: Wit, starring Emma Thompson. TW cancer. You're welcome and I'm sorry.
the german netflix series DARK is pretty .. well.. dark. it's not a casual watch by any means, more like an investment... but maybe the best series the platform has put out!!
I loved Rachel Getting Married. Debra Winger and Anne Hathaway are amazing. One that is a little more mainstream but that I wept during the trailer is Rabbit Hole.
I recommended that Tig watch Baby Reindeer in the comments on the Paul Giamatti episode, when she said she likes dark stuff, so I’mma take credit for that.
This is all I have wanted after the insanity that happened this weekend/week in the news and thats all ill say about it. Thanks for being a safe silly space
Tig, I need you to try a Cosmic Crisp apple. Honey Crisp were my favorites for years, and last year I discovered the new Cosmic Crisp, which was bred at Washington State University....holy hell, they're the best apple I've ever tasted. They sell them at Costco! I hope this tip enhances your apple loving experience! 🍎
When they were talking about suddenly all being on the same page I was sure Mae or maybe Fortune was going to say, "So, does this mean we're all gonna hook up?..."
A "devastating" show recommendation for Tig (and everyone really): Fleabag written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It's on Prime Video; 2 seasons, 12 episodes total. I still think about it from time to time. Mr. Robot really stuck with me too but it has considerably more episodes. 💞
Boys don't Cry was so devastating. I was young when I watched it and it made me understand that who I was could be dangerous. I'm glad I saw it, but I'll never watch it again.
I Cry- every time- Legends of the Fall. What starts out so glorious- with an amazing cast- slowly churns into one loss after another. If I needed to purge- this is the film I would choose.
Tig is kinda wrong about the first number thing though lol if the bill is $249, the tip is definitely not $4! Lol it has to be the all the digits preceding the last one. So, the tip should be about $50. If the bill was $1,060, it would be about $212. If the bill is $14,500, the tip would be around $2.9k lol if only we could tip based on the first number! Lol
lol tipping is easy. Take the total, move the decimal point over one place. That’s 10%, double for 20%. So 22.00, 10% is 2.20. Doubled is 4.40. So if you have a bill something like 178.38, 10% is 17.83. 20% is 35.66.
I do this, I think? or at least I'm like "okay, I can do 10 percent, so then double that" but i gotta be honest, when I see it written out like above, my brain turns to mush, it's like the Charlie Brown teacher-voice in my head 😂 pretty sure I have a bit of dyscalculia
Hey Handsome, how great episode today. Actually they all are, I LOVE YOUR POD!! Tig, I too prefer darker content for shows & movies. And Have you seen Damages with Rose Byrne, Glenn Close & Ted Danson etc & many more great actors? Excellent show, it’s the 4th time I’ve watched it. Also, Your Honor…OMG sooo good! Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Dexter. Those are a few you can start with, they’re older shows, ex. Your Honor, but great writing, acting, producing-no kidding! Anyway, whatever you decide to watch, enjoy it 😊
Tig, please watch “Mass” with Ann Dowd and Martha Plimpton. It devastated me so bad that my husband asked if I was leaving him. He thought there was a bigger internal struggle happening because of how bad I was sobbing. Never has a movie done that to me before. Highly recommend! EDIT: omfg Jeff Probst is so hawt WOW
Mae: read up on mirror neurons! A great opportunity for Mae facts! Here's one: there was a study where half the participants did bicep curls, and half watched videos of people doing bicep curls. Of course the biceps of the people who did the exercise grew more...... but the biceps of the people watching also grew. Wild! I watched hours and hours of my son's battinh practice, and while I used to not be able to hit a ball, I'm decent now. We all owe Harold Hill an apology...
yesss Fortune! Normal people was heartbreaking, and also Mae All of Us Strangers! Apparently Paul Mescal just looooves dark introspective and haunting material cuz I also saw his movie Aftersun recently and that was a gem as well...ugh
Mae, you might have discalclia ..I may be spelling it wrong. It's a math processing disorder my brother and I, both writers, have. Both retired teachers too. Seems there really is a 'math brain' and a 'reading brain'.
I hate to be this person but the 2 against 1 thing keeps happening because it is way more probable than all 3 agreeing. For example between Tig (T), Mae (M), and Fortune (F), if there are 2 choices: there's 6 ways it could be 2 against 1. TM, TF, MF either for choice A or B. So probability is 6. But for all 3 agreeing, the probability is 2. Sorry. I had to get this out.
Also a big fan of the dark dark dark. The most devastating film I ever seen in the last few years is The Whale, highly recommend, Tig. Also there is a band from my home state, Minnesota, called Dark Dark Dark and they are incredible. Check out the tracks Robert and Daydreaming ❤
Tig! #1 devastating movie of the year was May December, next most from years past was The Kindergarten Teacher. 100% most devastating book ever w great audio version is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Enjoy the pain, friend.
Dark movies: 1984. Sid and Nancy. Breaking the Waves. Lamb. Bad Boy Bubby. In a glass cage. Gummo. Santa Sangre. The Elephant Man. The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. Querelle.

OMG, I think that every time too. Change yo’ name Allstate
also, that driving surveillance discount program is not available in CA, where they all live!
The suddenly sped up pace that they said it makes it even funnier.
The chaos is everything in this episode! My cells feel happy to be here with you three beautiful humans! ❤
TIG! Yesterday I put my notice in at the pet crematory I work for and I’m selling my car so I can pursue voiceover full time!! FREEDOM!!! 😍❤️
O Honey..... AI is gonna replace you so soon.

Finding these 3 phenoms made my day! Sharp, silly, tight wit and ease. They click and flow so easily. Glad I could have some fun before I start my day
You've got to listen to all the rest of the episodes! This podcast is amazing. Cracks me up every time.
You’re new to this craziness?!? Welcome!! I am so jealous you still get to experience all the episodes for the first time! Enjoy!!! 🎉❤
I'm hoping that the discovery of the news that everyone ate a morning banana gave us the new phrase of "Three against none." ❤
"Two against one" was too divisive for me and my sensitivities.
I’m with Mae on the math anxiety!! My brain just shuts down. I see nothing but chaos.
As one of those 30-something nerds that plays games like Pokemon/Magic the Gathering, it's always fun seeing kids enjoy it! Fantasy lovers have often been welcoming to me and accepting of my strangeness and I know other queer people who have had similar experiences.
I love Fortune❤ « Is that what we were saying? »😂
I can watch them reacting to the opening theme song for hours lol
THE most devastating thing I’ve watched was an autobiographical documentary called Silverlake Life: The View From Here. It’s a film by a man with AIDs documenting caring for a partner who was also terminally ill with AIDs. Absolutely gut wrenching, raw, and real and an incredible insight in to the reality of the AIDs crisis. Not for the faint of heart, big content warnings but an amazing insightful film.
Love seeing you peeps every Tuesday! You're a complete joy!
The Rocket Money ad cutting between Mae's "inappropriate question" was amazing
Fortune’s laugh is the best!
I love how many times the word "nachos" was said.
Tig's being happy in your job sentiment was so beautiful... but every time she said "if you're happy".... My brain said "and you know it, clap your hands?" Lol
Yugioh and handsome podcast! My two worlds collide! Lmao
You all never fail to make me laugh out loud at work. I would recommend to anyone new here to start at the beginning with the first podcast. You will not be sorry. There are references to prior episodes that make the reference even better.
My favorite devastating series is Unbelievable, based on a true story.
OMG, yes, excellent series!
I can’t remember the episode, but Tig I think you would appreciate the movie Powder!
You all make me laugh out loud almost every episode. I always look forward to watching an episode.
Grave of the Fireflies remains one of the most devastating movie I've ever seen in my life.

Steel magnolias is just lovely. The variety of characters and relationships- chef’s kiss. Also that clip of the Easter bunny on the bike end is just one of my favourite things.
Yes! I watch it annually. The character development & complexity are wonderful.
Tig you've gotta watch Dear Zachary if you want devastating movies!
this episode is everything to me, as a HUGE Survivor Fan. Then Probst is the 'Asker" on the best podcast ever Handsome! - - The fact that Im teaching my 5 year nephew/godson How to Battle in Pokemon right now too. . Yall are the best

Oh Mae I have the same feels about my 8th grade math class . 56 years ago. Ouch.
The reason why there are a lot of adults playing pokemon is cus we grew up with it in the 90s. It’s also a good place to meet people for introverts
Listening always delivers big smiles and leaves me feeling good. Thank you.
I'm with Fortune. I don't want to survive. I. WANT. TO. THRIIIIIIVE.
Baby Reindeer was amazing, try Sharp Objects, Unbelievable, Mindhunter, The Alienist, The Killing, The Fall, Mare of Easttown, Oldboy(2003)

Tig Notaro: I love hearing that people are happy, and watching movies that gut me.
The hardest I've ever cried from watching something: Wit, starring Emma Thompson. TW cancer.
You're welcome and I'm sorry.
“Cloudburst” with Olympus Dukakis is one of the first movies I ever ugly cried and wept to
This is such a rad show, I love the format it’s supper engaging and also y’all are each so dang cute ☺️ the harmony got me right in the ❤
Mae, you are not alone with lazy slug relations during a netflix day binge. Sweats required
Hey, Handsomes! Tig... Dark Series - Six Feet Under... Brilliant & Dark! Also... Fortune's headset makes me LAUGH! Mae, keep being You!
I love y'all so much! this podcast brings me so much joy! But Tig the most gut-wrenching movie I've ever seen is Water. I cried for days.
the german netflix series DARK is pretty .. well.. dark. it's not a casual watch by any means, more like an investment... but maybe the best series the platform has put out!!
Hey now. I live in Wisconsin and everyone I know loves Steal Magnolias. It is hugely popular with the LGBTQIA community of a certain age.
I loved Rachel Getting Married. Debra Winger and Anne Hathaway are amazing.
One that is a little more mainstream but that I wept during the trailer is Rabbit Hole.
Black Mirror and Severance are great dark shows. Close (2022) is an amazing Belgian and French film that is pretty devastating.
I recommended that Tig watch Baby Reindeer in the comments on the Paul Giamatti episode, when she said she likes dark stuff, so I’mma take credit for that.
Love the Handsome Pod!! My mom taught me to move the decimal point over and double it to tip 20% since I’m bad with math
Love the Handsome Podcast! Also, TIG I love my job! ❤
Jeff Probst!!! You handsomest made my day!!!
We need a Handsome Dating/ Forever Partner finding app! I wanna do the slug netflix and chill
This is all I have wanted after the insanity that happened this weekend/week in the news and thats all ill say about it. Thanks for being a safe silly space
Such a fun ride!! My cells definitely experienced the handsomeness!!
You guys are HILARIOUS! 😂
22:00 I am guessing Tig has seen "Fried Green Tomatoes"
One of your best podcasts. Hilarious!!
Honeycrisp are so good! I am also very pro fruit salads. Delicious! Include kiwi, for sure!
Yugio & Pokeman...brings back memories of my sons when we were all younger. Now they're 30 & 32.
Tig, I need you to try a Cosmic Crisp apple. Honey Crisp were my favorites for years, and last year I discovered the new Cosmic Crisp, which was bred at Washington State University....holy hell, they're the best apple I've ever tasted. I want to try these now! Honeycrisp have been my favorite for ages!! Are Cosmic apples tart and crisp?
When they were talking about suddenly all being on the same page I was sure Mae or maybe Fortune was going to say, "So, does this mean we're all gonna hook up?..."
Mother (2017) was devastating imo
A "devastating" show recommendation for Tig (and everyone really): Fleabag written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It's on Prime Video; 2 seasons, 12 episodes total. I still think about it from time to time. Mr. Robot really stuck with me too but it has considerably more episodes. 💞
Tig-I hear you, I hear what you need, I got you. The Killing with Mireille Enos as lead female, this series is so dark.
Boys don't Cry was so devastating. I was young when I watched it and it made me understand that who I was could be dangerous. I'm glad I saw it, but I'll never watch it again.
I hear you. Watched it once. Hurt too much but so glad it was made.
Blood Diamond destroyed me. Loved it but would never want to rewatch it. As for a great, dark series to binge: Severance. I can’t get enough.
I Cry- every time- Legends of the Fall. What starts out so glorious- with an amazing cast- slowly churns into one loss after another. If I needed to purge- this is the film I would choose.

lol tipping is easy.
@@demolitionwoman_OFMD haha forget all the numbers above. Just move the decimal point one to the left, and then double.
OMG!! First time hearing Tig sing.
Anyway, whatever you decide to watch, enjoy it 😊
I've also just watched baby reindeer and I was blown away!
Ok Fortune, hold your hand up in the air, daily! Ya gotta practice
August Osage County....give it a watch pretty little ladies!!
Tig's kids playing Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon is so wild cause I was born in 1992 and we also grew up with those shows & some games as well.
yesss Fortune!
Tig should watch Killing Eve
Tug- here are some dark movies/show that I have loved:
Silence Of The Lambs
Severance
Black Mirror
Gattaca
Ozark
Ratched
I hate to be this person but the 2 against 1 thing keeps happening because it is way more probable than all 3 agreeing. For example between Tig (T), Mae (M), and Fortune (F), if there are 2 choices: there's 6 ways it could be 2 against 1. TM, TF, MF either for choice A or B. So probability is 6. But for all 3 agreeing, the probability is 2.
Sorry. I had to get this out.
3 important humans. love you all. 🎉🎉🎉
when mae came in with that bass i thought a fourth person joined the video omg
Also a big fan of the dark dark dark. The most devastating film I ever seen in the last few years is The Whale, highly recommend, Tig.
Also there is a band from my home state, Minnesota, called Dark Dark Dark and they are incredible. Check out the tracks Robert and Daydreaming ❤
Tig! #1 devastating movie of the year was May December, next most from years past was The Kindergarten Teacher. 100% most devastating book ever w great audio version is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Enjoy the pain, friend.
Love it!
"Ya know some of us just don't do math" I have never related to something more
"What if I made a day of it....." 😂
Love steel cut over nigh oats with chia seeds. Thanks Tig!
Tig! The most devastating movie I have seen is Réquiem for a Dream. So much so that I will never watch it again. It's a must see!
21:47 All Of Us Strangers was perfection but it absolutely destroyed me.
Dark movies: 1984. Sid and Nancy. Breaking the Waves. Lamb. Bad Boy Bubby. In a glass cage. Gummo. Santa Sangre. The Elephant Man. The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser. Querelle.
I'd forgotten about Breaking the Waves. That's dark.
Fortune is the cutest! 😂
Hey Thomas, can you put Tig, Fortune, and Mae coming to MN so I can take them to a Honeycrisp apple orchard this fall?? 🍎😂❤
Tig’s chicken crossing the road joke hit me so hard as a southerner 😂
