I love exactly three things in life:
1. Midnights by Taylor Swift (which is INCREDIBLE and anyone who says otherwise is lying to you);
2. Steve Harrington;
3. Making my friend Niamh cry.
I've been wanting to make a Steve video for a while, now, but I couldn't really find a song that felt right for what I wanted. And then Taylor Swift released THIS BANGER and my brain went whrrrrrrrrrrrr and popped this out in, like, three days.
I wanted to try and explore that sense of loneliness behind a lot of Steve's arc, how he's always had the title/the popularity/etc. but never people who actually cared about him until he found Dustin/Robin/the rest of the Party. That feeling of always being alone even in a crowded room. And then he finds his little family and suddenly he's /not/ alone anymore and I just! Ugh! I love Steve Harrington!! Ahhhh!!

This made it look like Steve is the main character in his own movie and I’m so here for it. And it captured his character development perfectly and I feel like it opened up a deeper side to his story.

Wow. Okay. That blew me away. Steve is my favorite Stranger Things character, and this is my favorite song off of Midnights. You perfectly captured how the song not only flows and hits, but did it with a beautifully flawed character and his growth and the impact others have around him. Edits truly have such an ability to impact people, and the way you cut it, the scenes you used, the pacing, and overall flow was amazing. Thank you!!

Oh my God I LOVEEE THIS! Seeing the “so make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it, you’ve got no reason to be afraid!” and the scenes of him with Dustin, Nancy, Robin and the entire gang that made him happy. That gave him purpose and meaning and made his life all round crazier yeah, but so much brighter !! After all the gloom, and even as the popular kid, high school sucked, people were fake and my guy went through a lot but he came out of it all so much stronger and *that* is what I love about Steve. Amazing video by the way, great editing, bestie ! ❤️🫶🏻🫶🏻

Fantastic edit. Love the shots u chose at the start to talk about summer ending & u worked around lines like the "blood soaked gown." I love how much u focused on Steve's face at the end to express how he's changed. Also, dug the parallels u drew between Billy & Steve
I think it was actually the “blood-soaked gown” and the “blood, sweat and tears” lines that got me thinking of making this video in the first place! I’m glad they worked well in the end-putting those shots together was so much fun. Thank you!!

I've been watching this video like once a day for the past two weeks. It honestly is just so good. I dont tear up every time I watch it, but I do occasionally let a few tears slip. It's just crazy how this video perfectly encapsulates how I see Steve's character. I love this video. It has such a sad undertone to it. Like I think that's part of why I get emotional is that it feels like a goodbye to Steve like a tribute to a character who's not gonna make it out of the series alive

I never thought of pairing this song with Steve Harrington’s character, but this is an amazingly successful mashup! It shows how at this stage in his life, Steve is trying to figure out who he really is. He thinks that Nancy sees the real him (she calls him on his ruses, like smoking to look cool). When Nancy can’t say that she loves him, Steve loses the one person who he really opened up to; the person he most wanted love and acceptance from. We see the vulnerable, real person under Steve’s obvious facade as the handsome, popular “King of Hawkins High.”

This is a perfect representation of steve's evolution. In the beggining of the edit we see how he was a ashole but in the video, i don't know precisly when, he become the brave, badass and good guy that we all know. So yes, u did a very good job.
I heard this song for the first time and thought of Steve Harrington, my ultimate kin/comfort character. Steve and his arc are so personal to me, as is Taylor’s music and this song, and to see someone create imagery for all of the thoughts and feelings I carry in my head is so amazing. I cried because of this, but in a good way! Character study is my absolute favorite thing and this edit encapsulates every analysis I’ve done for Steve. I can’t even put into words how much this really means to me. I know it sounds dramatic, but it’s true.

This is such a good edit because it matches like Steve arc and he’s like feelings I guess cause he doesn’t really show because he feels like you have to because big strong person with the Taylor Swift song, and a it can actually make you emotional I almost cried, watching this and I never cry watching edits and I think you’re just very good at that.
You also made me cry! This is the perfect song for Steve and it breaks my heart but then makes me cry in a good way when Steve gets the Party. This is so amazing
OKAY ARTISTE DAMN. you should know its subday morning and I didnt expect tears with my breakfast. like I dont move that easily, idk what happened. this is SO welledited, and I cant stress this enough because its expert levels of portarying an emotional arc and then also just punching you in the gut iwth the visuals. and not to be mean, but people almost never get the splicing audio with the main sing right, it can be so tricky. this? perfection. it flows tigether so well and elevates the other. aaah okay excuse me while I fall into this vid and no one hears from me again.

I think you pieced this together really well! You did a great job of having scenes from ST coincide with verses from "You're On Your Own, Kid". Overall, it was very cohesive. Nearly brought me to tears at certain points🙏

small thing but I really liked how Eddie Munson was the only person who hadn't actually pointed it out that he was a terrible person before 1984. Like he was the only person who actually talked about how surprised he was that Steve Harrington wasn't being a douche and was risking his life to help people who a few years earlier he probably hated the thought of. It shows how Steve grew as a a character and I'm super upset about how they through all of his development out of the window in season 4 making him fall for Nancy again.
This is a masterclass in storytelling and editing.

I love Steve as a character, I think he had the most redeeming and interesting character arc
i feel like our beloved steve harrington went through so much seen/unseen trauma. like we see him get pushed around a bit, but never fully put the pieces together. his dad's a jerk, probably pressured him to get good grades and play sports and stuff. then steve feels like he needs to keep up his "king harrington" reputation at school. he saves his adoptive children & his friends countless times & they hardly ever tell him thank you. he's never blown up about how they never do anything for him, how he doesn't really get anything in return, and so on. he just keeps protecting because i don't think he ever truly was & joe keery has a great way of portraying that. this edit made me cry (with my joe keery blanket) for finally bringing light to the shadowy side of this comedically relieving character we've all grown to know and love. to steve harrington 🥂

I've watched so many of the "You're on your own, kid" edits for characters and this one is by far - not only the most emotional- but the best edited I've seen. Every lyric lines up perfectly with the scene and the lines from the show you chose to un-mute just beautifully represent how this song could be interpreted for various situations and emotions.
