i have a 1961 international harvester scout 80 lifted with a 305 and a short throw transmission and i love it also in this video i noticed that it looked like the hummers where in 4 wheel drive and he scout was in 2 wheel drive
I've had diesel gas burners, I've had them all. No other trucks are like scouts off road, the f250 is too heavy and will sink. The Toyota's and Suzuki samurais and the jeep cj is the only vehicle's that come near to scout when it comes to off road. Now the old 60s bronco will do everything the scout will do, except the in ground clearance and tire clearance on the bronco sucks.
Them's fightin' words! Don't say it unless you have actually beaten a Scout, and you furnish proof! Of course it's a sad little Scout, it's just a SD33T Turbo Diesel, paltry power output. Barely enough power to get out of it's own way. A Scout with a 345 is the most desireable combo. A 345 would yank the tongue out of your Ford, and hand it to you in a body bag! lol!
My stock IH Socut 2 would demolish both the H3 and that poor diesel Scout on this little course...Nothing beats an International 345 V8. Even a few of the guys who follow me in their brand new upgraded pickups are surprised by how unstoppable it is. The Big Blue Beast likes nothing more than eating modern high priced SUVs and Trucks for breakfast, especially Jeeps! Never had a chance to test it against a real military Hummer, some day maybe, but I can only imagine how fun it would be. xD
Come on please. My grandmother could do that route in reverse with my Scout II. Besides this driver does not knowledge that Scout has problems on the front axle o tranfer case, because the front wheels are not doing the job. See other videos of Scout II running Off Road and you will see the difference.
The Scout has open diff's, I would put my 78 Scout up against the Hummer any day, stock except for lockers front and rear. It goes everywhere with no problems.

Hmmm, an '80 Scout with the Nissan SD-33T Turbo Diesel engine. Not a big Fan of the diesels, but they are nice when running well. Still don't put out as much torque as the big 345 V8. Luxury, HAH! Luxuries are for babies, no offense. Mankind did just fine for thousands of years before luxuries came along. You wouldn't even know what to do if one of your "luxuries" decided it did not want to work. Probably break down and have a coniption fit, lol!

I would love to have a scout. I have off roaded in a jeep cherokee and it got stuck easily. Our Xterra blows the jeep away even being bare bones. I even off roaded in a Deuce and a half. The Deuce conquered some shit. I think a scout would be a blast. Those aren't Hummers by the way. They are fake hummers. Only "Hummer" is the H1. Those will out perform almost anything. Reason why the military went from Jeep to the Humvee. I just dont have $50,000 for one. The scouts are however a classic.

Am sure the Hum though has full lockers though. The IH I can't tell. I have a 62 S80 with the original 4-banger...not what can be called "nimble" to begin with in stock config....and have run through some nasty soft washes. Run into trouble through soft stuff if I can't get//lose momentum while mostly going around in mere 2H in 2nd gear. My back end is so much lighter it can lose traction...then its popping into 4L 1st to drag myself out of the really bad stuff. Have sailed through stuff though that buggies get stuck in.
Those Hummers are awesome. Except Hummer isn't around anymore. That sucks.
The Scout was also a 4 speed manual with the stout but very under powered Nissan SD-33T Diesel.
That's bullshit scouts are all-wheel positive Trac. They will go places others wont & do it at an idle.

Love scouts but if they were doing hummers it should’ve been a h1 more capable but besides that SCOUT POWER!
I've owned two 345 V8 Scout and a 304 V8. They were great trucks.

Hubs are locked, front axle isn't. If it's open it'll allow 1 tire to spin

I've got a 196 4 cylinder Imternational, all stock. Still out performs any modified vehicle I've one up against.

Just got an H3, love it...for the money you cant get a more capable off roader than the H3 and be able tyo drive it day to day in luxury.
