Being a machine engineer, the ebay special is easier to service and to me seems a good option. I would use coolant designed for aluminium engines to prevent corrosion and pitting or at least distilled water and definitely keep filters clean to prevent getting mayo in your gun. If you fill a tank first, any oil water mixture will sit in the bottom and is less likely to get into your gun if it gets past your filters. For any noobs, compressors always generate water and so requires filtering out.
2 years on my Ebay special and no issues. I change the oil every season and keep the filters clean. I have three gun cylinders I fill and and average about 3 fills a month. Always run water through these even for a top off as they will build temp way too fast. I did wrap my stainless air tubes with copper wire for additional heat dispersion and that help cool them off a bit. Also leave the water pump running after shutting down the unit as they don't bleed heat well and leaving the water running for an additional 5 or 10 minutes will help dissipate extra heat
Now i now why i am not a fan of PCP rifles, the hassle and expensive of filling them unless you live close to a gunshop is just not worth it for me. I don't use my airguns often enough to justify the expense of the gear required to fill them at home. Thanks for making us aware of the pro's and cons of available compressors.
I have the Air Venturi compressor. After two years of use, I found it would only charge up to 1,000 psi. After doing some internet searches and conversations with Pyramyd Air, I discovered that the stainless steel reed valve on the second stage had burned a pin-hole through it. This was caused by carbon building up on the reed valve, and the over-heated carbon burning a hole through the reed valve. Bottom line, I should have used a better quality oil designed specifically for high pressure compressors. I was able to replace the reed valve myself. Pyramyd Air had the correct reed valve in stock. I noticed a small amount of corrosion on the cooling system internals, even though I had been using distilled water. Now I am using a radiator coolant and distilled water mix. I am also using a better quality oil. My Air Venturi is working fine now. Overall, I am satisfied with my Air Venturi compressor. I should have started out with better oil, and used radiator coolant.
free hint from someone used to trying to make plastic pipes work. Cable tie round the kink forces it to become round again, a few in close proximity allows a bend without the pipe kinking itself half-shut.
this week(19/11/21) I bought an Ejoyous High Pressure Air Pump Electric High Pressure Air Compressor Pump 4500PSI / 30MPA, 300BAR High Pressure Air Pump, Portable PCP Air Compressor off Amazon uk, for £133 quid...its basically the same as the "ebay special"... it requires 2 LR44 watch batteries to power the temp gauge, and i ordered No 46 hydraulic oil but will use synthetic iso 100 compressor oil in the future after reading the comments here... the temp sensor is supposed to be placed in a hole at the back of the cooling cylinder... i found my water hoses were also kinked and will have to put them in a bowl of hot waters to get them right again... i worked out that if it manages 26 bottle fills it will have paid for its self! great video Andy i feel better with my purchase after watching this!
I know this video is a year old by the time I’ve seen it but still very knowledgeable for a novice ( Beginner) like me. I am now going into a year with my PCP world and I tell you this to all of you beginners ,,,,,,, you can by any PCP air Gun or Rifle but what you don’t realize when you start is,,,,,,,,,, you need ,no you WANT a reliable compressor! And looking around I want one that can be used regularly and weekly ,monthly into years to come! Just don’t want to carry around a bucket of water. Thanks for the information you posted very knowledgeable 🙂
Yong Heng ebay special... over 3 years so far only one issue.. Had to replace the power relay under the cover... About your temp gauge.. look at the front of ther handle and back of the cylinder there is a place to put the end of the sensor for accurate temp reading.. These pumps are awesome/... Mine fills my Marauder in less than a minute!..from 2000 to 3000 PSI..Paid 303.00 for mine in Feb of 2017. Love it!!
I ran a yong Heng for well over a year. They require constant attention and have a very dirty output suggesting multiple air filters after compression which I did. You can never run them without circulating cold water. There is also a very explicit start stop procedure. I had well over 30 hours use and it needed a high-pressure piston head. After that replacement it is again running just fine with constant attention. What you don’t have here is probably the most intelligent compressor. The Omega series. I have the basic one and already well over 10 hours on it which again is quite a lot of air for a single person. The only maintenance is an occasional bit of grease. Truly exceptional and also the quietest with virtually no maintenance. It did not even come with air filter so I put A good one on it.
The basic one? I guess you mean one of the ones bigger than their Trail Charger, which I was thinking of getting, but I'll have to save for a while as it is pricey.. Only thing I worry about is with this trade war, the price may climb. Sounds like you really like your model, so I hope mine is just as good when I get it.
thank you Andy. My wife and i have obtained our FAC certificates and are exploring the purchase of a PCP air rifle. your reviews are much appreciated. best wishes, Douglas
The temperature gauge on the Ebay special runs off a rechargeable battery which charges after a short running time. No biggy. I've had mine a year now. I paid £135 delivered and I am delighted with it. If has been 100% trouble free. It does NOT need two plugs as water pump takes its power from the compressor and mine was a UK plug. The plastic pipes aren't plastic but soft none kink silicone and setting up is a doddle. Plug it in and fill a water container ....that's it. Mine is permanently set up anyway in my garden workshop and it's amazing just how many shooting friends who now call in 'as they were passing' and seem to carry their air bottles in their car boot. I can testify as to how fast it is. Mine takes about 7 minutes to fill my 7 litre 300 bar bottle from 180 bar which is superb. Edit - I found it began to run a bit hot after about 15 minutes so I decided to run the cooling water open circuit rather than reuse it. I run the hot water to waste and keep my cold supply topped up from my garden hose. It runs some 20°C cooler which means less stress and less wear.
I purchased the GXCS2 (Orange color) from AMAZON with ex. Warranty of 3 or 4 yrs. I chose 4 yrs. I just gave it it's 100 hr maintenance. I shoot almost every day. BLITZ, AIRMAX, VECTIS. ALL HATSAN. No oil no water, no hours used gage. Pumps up BLITZ empty 12 min. This pump as served me almost everyday for 13. No issues. Just grease up the rod threw a easy removable plug. They now have same unit runs on 18 volt battery.
My hours of use is my watch and a log sheet giving time, what I filled etc. The running total is updated after each use. Simple. There is a correct start up and using sequence to prevent damage to the compressor. Most are damaged through not following the correct sequence.
I purchased the Ebay special (Fake) Last May. I use the Royal Purple Synfilm Recip 100 oil. Paid $225.00 plus tax Free Shipping. Fills my Gamo Urban in 25 sec. Has run flawlessly. I altered the temp gauge so I could change the Batterie's without removing the cover. Temp has never been a problem but I watch closely when running. Mine is the 110V version. Never start or shut off under load and put an ice jug in water.
After months of handpumping, I got myself the Chinese compressor!!!! What luxury! My first impression was why did I buy this again? 'cause it took just minutes to fill my smallest gun tank. But I still remember the pain staking Hatsan tank that took a split time filling it up because of the large capacity and I was careful with my new compressor, it got hot. maybe it had to run the engine in a bit. It's working fine now.
Very informative review. My interest was the eBay Special, which is being sold in the US by a number of vendors. None of them offer any warranty, but the pump has the cooling feature which is well thought-out and uses that inexpensive aquarium pump. It has been favorably mentioned in forum posts and I believe it’s the one I will buy. Recently the piece of junk I bought via Alibaba failed. It had issues upon arrival and I doubt I put 10 hours on it. It very much resembles another Yong Heng being sold on Amazon for $269. This pump also appears under major brand names, but I won’t be fooled again.
Im a brit living in the states, bought a Yong Heng 4500 psi compressor (ebay special) about 2 years ago, runs like a charm, herd that bearings wear on piston crank, rebuild piston+kit cost around $26,ive fitted a water, molecular filter, fills my FX Streamline. 22 in under 2 minutes,my temp gauge batteries died last year,so need replacing. Overall good value,if it lasts 3 to 4 years can just buy another.
I bought the Yong Heng compressor from Ebay and paid same as you did and the coolant pipe work is more extensive and the plastic tube on yours are silicon on mine (no kinks), BRILLIANT review sir Thanks
Most people are wasting their money if buy anything more expensive than an ebay special for home use. I got one for £185. It fills my 35cl bottle in 3-4 minutes to 300psi. And is easily serviced. It's got LCD temp gauge. Pressure gauge. Came with 12 V car transformer as well as UK wall socket plug. It's fairly quiet and very compact. It also came with a reinforced leash and two adaptors.
I payed a little more and got me a Yong heng, basically the same as an "Ebay-special" but better water hoses and some other improvements like an owners manual in english that tell you that the probe for the temperature gauge should be inserted in the hole on the cylinder. 😊 I did not follow the recommendations to use iso 46 aw hydraulic oil but used a high quality synthetic iso 100 compressor oil which can withstand the temperatures reached in the second stage of compressing to avoid carbon build-up on the second stage piston.
I too went with the YH model one year ago. I'm also using the Royal Purple Synfilm Recip. 100 compressor oil. The unit has been amazing and fills my gun in a consistent 2 minutes flat. You absolutely have to use the water cooling when running the pump regardless of air temp. I have my whole unit in a cabinet with a slideout shelf all contained and I couldn't be happier, especially after hearing your horror stories on the expensive models. I figured I can fix about anything myself "if" I had problems or buy 8 more for the money of a more expensive model. Take all the steps I mentioned above, get a large water/air separator and maintain your unit well and I thing the YH is hard to beat! Excellent review Andy!!!!!!!
@@AZBADBOYz doing the same here, have 5 very big bottle fills so far....biggest issue is moisture, im in dry california, yet it squeses lots of moisture out of the air, so i have added a dryfilter like the hill pump have on the intake, 2 big filters on the output, and finally the included little filter it came with.....im contemplating setting it up right now, as both my tanks are at 200bar...ohh also running royal purple oil...biggest issue is the time it takes to set up and i like to put ice in my water bucket which complicates the whole thing more
I've had that little blue eBay compressor and it does surprisingly great I had it for about a year then someone stole it I just ordered another one and I feel like it definitely beats both box ones if you don't mind the water setup
Of people who make reviews if they see many .. some sponsored others not, whatever you are of these, your work is impartial, precise and detailed. great work, top!
I have one from Amazon the young hang and have used it for about 2 years now and no problem. But I do change the oil quite often. And added a mechanical filter to remove moisture. Which I think is a must.
I think you undersold the ebay special, you could according to the aforementioned retailer purchase the compressor and a tank for less than the cost of any of the other units mentioned. Enjoyed the review.
Hi Andy me and my dad have been using the eBay special for a year now filling a 7 litre bottle and fingers crossed it has been fine.. I would definitely recommend it... Great video big thanks
I would definitely upgrade to a better oil/water separator with the eBay special compressor, around £80 , but none of these seem to have very good oil/water separators tbh , but if go for the Heng Yang eBay special faster then the others to fill gun, and can full small/medium tanks in 30 minn runs
What do you mean by 'oil/water separator' as a compressor engineer to me this is something that takes any oil that's carried over into the condenser out of the water that's created when air is compressed, it has no effect on how the compressor runs, it's a legal requirement to stop oil going down the drain.
Introduction. I am a welder by trade and have a variety of welding tanks, such as oxygen, acetylene, straight argon, CO2/argon mix (usually 25-75). Also straight CO2, a few other mixtures and nitrogen tanks, which the nitrogen tanks come filled to about 2,300 psi. Relevance? I bought a Yong Heng 4,500 psi compressor. To extend the compressor's life I prefill my PCP from the nitrogen tanks, which are readily available in my shop. I have the Hatsan Bull Boss in .22, with a fill pressure of 2,900 psi. After all, the air we breath is mostly nitrogen to begin with. I use to compressor to top off the remaining difference. Its my theory that since I fill my PCP as described the seals will last longer because there is less oxygen in the rifle's air tank. If that is true I could upgrade and obtain nitrogen in 6000 psi tanks but I'd need a special (and costly) annual contract. Besides the initial cost of the nitrogen tank, about $150 in US Dollars, it costs me about $25 to exchange for a fresh tank of the same size. I think my idea is better since I don't have to buy costly scuba tanks that have an expiration date and can't be filled beyond that date. Tanks purchased from a welding supply store never expire since the refill exchange tanks are checked before distribution.
Hi Andy it’s 3 years since this review and the last one you did on a compressor pumps was for the BSA pump. Just thought, I’d mention that I’ve just purchased a GX CS2 pump, and thought it might be worth a mention. As they are exactly what is inside the BSA branded box. But without the cover and at a fraction of the price. The BSA one is basically the GX CS3 version which BSA have their branding put on. In the interests of us penny pinching air gun enthusiasts, it would be nice to see you reviewing the very affordable GX CS2 version of the pump.
I have two of the eBay special the crank on the first one ceased up but was able to er-pared it at home and used it for another year then it started to leak water in to the air gun .replaced the top end and its fine . the second one is still going strong just service every 40 fills with 100% synthetic oil and I shoot every day . Roy
Sideshowbobx also the nice thing about them is there’s plenty of places to get parts and complete rebuild kits, plus they’re really simple to work on. Really can’t go wrong with one. Oh and Walmart is now selling the Yong Heng with the optional three year warranty.
Andy, your reviews are always helpful and this one is, by far, the best for pcp fans. There are always going to be other makes of compressors that you could have included, but this gave excellent, broad advice on likely prices etc. Thanks for all of your reviews.
My ebay special as you call it. Is 110 volt and alittle different than the one you have. Same design. That will run on vehicle inverter. Have had 2yrs. Oil change regularly. No problems at all. Have used to fill. Scuba tanks, paintball 4500 tanks and pcp. From 3000-4500. My temp gauge is hard wired, no batteries. English manual. And i bought mine from factory where they are made. With a numbers to call for problems. I called once, just to see. To my surprise, within 10sec i was talking to someone that actually spoke english. I can buy any part for my compressor. At $265 shipped to my door. I personally would only pick this one. $800 plus for any other one. Not a chance.
I recently purchased the Amazon Brand compressor. Yes, it's not the most user friendly unit, but for the price it does the job. It is a pain in the neck plugging in the water pump but the system fills my air guns and extra tanks just fine. Just need to keep an eye on the unit to make sure it doesn't overheat. This far it's done the job. Oh and it's 110.ac / 220.ac if desired.
Bought the Yong Heng variant myself, still cheaper than the alternatives and will also fill a tank (mine is 7ltr) if required. I made some mods to control temperature better (heat sinks and fans) because heat is the killer of compressors, and also added 3rd party filters to remove moisture and oil residue to better prtect my guns. There's a lot of info out there now on servicing/repairing these compressors and spare parts are easily obtained - if it breaks you can fix it. This small compressor can supply more air than a single user could ever use for shooting PCPs so I see no point in paying more.
i took a punt at the ebay special after watching this and am amazed how good it is . also compared to the joke price of the nomad 2 its the bargain of the year . thanks AAR for giving me the confidence to buy one
I have also an Ebay special. Great little compressor. I add some vehicle anti freeze to the cooling water, to prevent corrosion . brilliant little bit of kit.
I am just getting into the PCP World from break barrel I have quite a few break barrel pistols and rifles but I want to enter the PCP world like I said what are your thoughts of The Gauntlet 2 as a first PCP rifle? I'm sure you have one or probably used one I see it has great reviews do you recommend this because you seem the most knowledgeable on UA-cam in my opinion and have the best videos would this be a good first PCP for me to get into the door and if I like it get more higher end as I go
Hi andy i bought the ebay special and it works brilliant it fills my pcp airguns in seconds less than a minute and the temperature gauge is not problem as we know that the cost of the manufacturing industry in China is probably the cheapest in the world and i paid £129.00 pounds sterling for it and you do get a lot of bang for your buck the quality of build is good and would pay for itself in the end and more for this money it is well worth the investment and you could buy 3 for the price of 1 nomad or smk k30 compressors I believe less is sometimes more because mine doesn't have the automatic turn of and i am happy with that because you should not leave any air compressor unattended anyway when in use the problem with automatic turn of switches is they break so food for thought when buying a air compressor excellent review as always and keep up the good work we are humanity hominids ascending from our true ancestors the great apes migration colonisation time evolution civilisation the material field the status quo but please remember not to give a chimpanzee a live hand grenade because it will pull the pin lol
The air pump is only to be used as a last resort, like WTSHTF , when pumping you will feel like , well you know, like 💩! A lot to be said about springers but I enjoy both ! Love watching your show , you are a hoot !
Great video. Something I have to ponder as I get further into PCPs. For the moment my 68 old body finds my Hill’s pump an interesting upper body exercise.
Love the Lotus picture on the wall, however my brief elation was quickly soured by the misaligned wooden tongue-in-groove unions in the corners. Nice job of presenting these compressor options, now I am more confused than ever, but leaning toward the air Venturi.
A topic not covered is air filtration. Some of these have in line filters for particulates or oil vapour but they seldom have anything for moisture and getting water in your tanks is not a good thing. I think adding an air drier filter is possibly a good idea.
I bought another filter for my Ebay special just in case, it came with a little filter that looks like cotton pads in there and the new one has dessicant balls and charcoal and some other bead things which pull the moisture out, other people say that as long as you purge the compressor then not an issue.
Many thanks for reassuring us that the physical state of ones health wasn't just me after using a handpump. Now I'm out of hospital I invested in one of those Chinese eBay ones for £160 - Life is good now.
Great video thanks for sharing .At my work they use Haskell air driven pumps for up to 400bar , so if you had a small air compressor this feeds the Haskell air pump which then gives you up to 400bar output .
@@ashleighallen3323 I use Bel-Ray 10W Fork Oil. 🙂🙂🙂 Hasn't exploded yet! But I 've till now only used the compressor like 2-3 times for filling my Snowpeak/Artemis M40.
Hi Andy, very interested clip here I know it's 2yrs ago as IV watched it. As IV watched and taken your information me as a commercial dive Tec.....I heard alot of good points on your clip but I also heard afew alarmes, just hope that do PCP shooting and the odd bit of diving know that ALL these compressors would probably fail a AIR SAFE TEST for breathing use. Also please follow the registration on cylinder tests and DONT mix PCP fill cylinder with dive one's due to contamination. I never fill my PCP off any source expect those that air safe certs that only last 3 months if fix to position. Happy shooting,
Excellent, informational video. You covered all of the ones I was looking at. Taking my scuba tanks for a 2 hour drive is a pain. I think the Air Venturi Nomad is for me. Thanks again for the thorough review!
I use an Air Venturi hand pump to pump my Edgun Leshiy pcp. Less than 2 strokes per pellet, and it shoots a one hole group at 10 meters. And it is 30 plus miles to the nearest pumping station.
Ah, don't get me started on the Belgians, and Germans too. Great people, and humor that surprise hits you, and leaves you rolling in laughter. Blessings from America.
Ebay special with auto cutoff. I also added a larger water filter that drains off the bottom. Using mine for 2 years runs fine summer it does drain off some water through the larger filter. Also my temp gauge works just fine.
Just came across your video & I have a Yong Heng & have been using it for a year now, have around 50 hrs of use on it. I been using to fill my 3 guns along with a 3LT tank, I just ordered a 6.5 LT tank last week since I have started to do more shooting.
Just got the Nomad 2 as starting to shoot again at home ! Damned you know what buggered up club shooting, so don’t fancy having to visit diving centres to fill tanks and have been told it will take an age to fill the bottle on my Dreamline with a hand pump. But I also intend to purchase a hand pump just in case you know WHO uses an EMP ! Really enjoy these reviews, keep them coming.
Dive cylinders are tested very 2.5 years. If you buy an out of test cylinder first test would be a hydro test the. 2.5 years later a visual test then 2.5 years after that a hydro test etc etc. Bit of advice ( though many may already know this) if you join a dive shops club you often get free air fills on your cylinder. As an example one club near me charge £60 a year or £5 a month DD, my club charge £75 for the year. Compressors used for filling scuba diving cylinders have a whole set of very strict regulations for air quality which can help ensure a long life for the cylinder.
I'd take an Ebay Special any day. Read someone have had one broken quite quickly - but that can happen with anything and to anyone. Gotta just take care you get the best and most suitable fluids for it. I just love the more simplicity of it (an assumption by just looking at it). If it breaks - you then probably got a chance to fix it yourself. I do not mind at all the "open cooling system" it has - nor the 240V only. Would personally not hesitate buying one .. whenever I first get bought my very first PCP airgun.😁
and don't over run it max fill time is around 30mins, and change the oil when it discolours also better to get a better oil/water separator around £80 on eBay/Amazon ,then it'll last
About the Nomad 2: It's not operating off a "running car battery." It's running off the car's generator, magneto, alternator, etc. If you simply operated it connected to your car's battery (car not running), you'd have a dead battery in very short order. However, since you need to connect it to a power source, connecting it to the battery is the easiest and most convenient way. Running the car while using the Nomad 2 simply ensures that your car battery remains charged.
Just filled my Umarex Hammer with a small Vevor that only cost about $200 , and it worked. Not gonna lie , it took a solid 15 minutes , but , it worked.
eBay special all day long into the second year now and still going strong 💪 buy a bigger water pump add antifreeze to the water unbelievable bit of kit great video
3&1/2 years for Me it's great I change the oil regular & put a bigger aquarium pump on it and made the water pump hose to a larger diameter it works even better now and keeps it Ice cold ❄ distilled water from Tesco £1.50 2ltr highly recommend, fresh oil every 6mts and it work great best option IMHO
Nice review, I wish you would have shown the Nomad's battery option. When I go to the field I just pop open the hood of my truck, hook up the battery cables and fill my guns as needed right there in the field.
Hi Andy, I have just purchased a TUXING 12 volt / mains compressor from Amazon which was £239. Like most of the compressors you reviewed it is from China and has a separate transformer but came with a three pin plug. It is fairly noisy in use but doesn’t need a separate cooling system. In fact it appears to be very similar to the one you reviewed at £500. This is not to gloat, but measly to offer a less expensive alternative for those of us on a budget and an alternative to a divers bottle at a comparable price. I hope this will be of use to you and my fellow shooters.
Nice review of a few of the options available to the PCP Airgunner. Much emphasis needs to be put upon keeping the heat below the manufacturers recommended threshold. I think that heat and incorrect choice of lubricants is the main cause of shortened compressor life. The K30 seems to be a lot like the Hatsan Spark, and Benjamin Traveler. I think that Airgunners should be reminded to avoid running these little compressors for intervals of 20 minutes or more, with at least 30-40 minutes of time to cool off. Another consideration might be important, and that is to remove the load from the compressor prior to shutting it off. As I believe that the sudden stoppage of the crankshaft, and conrod/piston assembly under a significant load, could be a source of excessive wear to the associated parts. Another consideration should be to changing the oil where applicable as soon as it begins to to get cloudy. Thanks for the time and effort to make this useful video. And thanks to the other folks who have posted their experiences with the various compressors. It's very useful to be able to compare the various designs and their success or failure to provide value to the consumer.
Excellent review. I think the eBay special will be the eventual winner. The quality will improve with time. The price may decrease further if shipping expenses could be reduced. Its current price is the same as a Hill's manual pump
Would be nice if someone did a video on couplers and different types of fittings , it’s a mine field trying to work out what you need when you have bought your air tank or compressor, thanks for the video ,, Shane uk 🇬🇧
Andy, Greetings! Thank you for taking the time on reviewing the compressors, It really help me to understand the difference on quality and especially on parts and labor taking your word an owner and honest opinion. It really help us all. Can you do a review on this compressor... is the Air Venturi EC-3000 Compressor by Hill ...Thank you!
Your Air Ventura is basically the Ebay special. The Ebay Special you have is a Clone of the Yong Heng 4500 psi 300 Bar air compressor. The Yong Heng i purchased a year ago for $212 it has never let me down. Add a water tank and radiator and still cheaper then the Air Ventura compressor. Hell the Yong Heng even out lasted my Hand air pumps. As long as you do the maintenance it will last and serve your needs. Is it portable, No but that's what the SCBA tanks are for.
A couple weeks ago I bought a Yong Heng just like that off Amazon for 220 USD free shipping and for 40 bucks more I got a 4 year 100% replacement warranty. I only fill my guns with it as they're not going to live very long filling tanks. That's not what they're designed for.....I made the mistake of buying a $1400 compressor a few years back and now it's a boat anchor!!! You can either spend $3000 on a good one that will live "Bauer" or waste your money like I did on a cheaper model made in China for $1400 that won't live 3 years with minimal use and be SOL when it craps out in a couple of years. Even if you don't get the 4 year warranty from Amazon the rebuild parts are readily available thru Ali Express and are dirt cheap. You can buy the entire cylinder with the piston/rod and seals installed for $75. Unless you intend to fill tanks it's pretty much a no-brainer which path to chose.
I essentially have an Ebay special but an English specification one uk plug and came with a litre of oil and orings etc and very good instructions... IYS ( in your sights) have these
It’s the same one with a U.K. kettle lead and £10 worth of oil. All the rest is included in the basic one, oh and £200 more expensive. Thanks for watching
AAR OnAir Andy’s Airgun Reviews great video I remember the minefield when checking it out before buying and for my price range the only contender. All the best.
Excellent review on all of these compressors! I have the Nomad II and fill up my 3 x Ninja Pro V2 SLP Aluminum 3000 PSI 13 Cubic Inch tanks. I usually just fill them up one right after the other and each take about 10 min each to fill to 3000 PSI. I never give the Nomad time to cool down, but after watching this video, I will give it at least 5 to 7 min to cool down a bit by letting the fan run while it's running on idle to cool down faster. Thanks again for the great review!
My buddy's Yong Heng air compressor blew up right in front of us during filling. I believe his compressor is a bit over a year old. The front plate with the little window to monitor oil level shattered into pieces and spilling oil everywhere. Luckily no one was hurt but just clothes stained with oil. My advice is not to stand in front or near it when filling.
The question is just for the Sake of time. I think maybe a good example is the Sig Sauer MCX Virtus PCP .22 Caliber Semi-Auto rifle you fill the PCP Tank will the air ever Leak out or will it stay in the Tank without shooting the Gun
The E-bay / Amazon special I had 2 units in a 1 1/2 year period, one quite working in less than one year, bought a second one it lasted 3 months and the crank case failed and blew apart sending the piston and cylinder flying. Other have posted having the same issue with the crank case failure.
@@erik_dk842 Had nothing to do with the user. All compressor instruction were followed never ran more than 15 minute intervals and changed oil every two uses. The casing fractured due to a design flaw allowing the entire cylinder with the piston and rod came flying out barley missing my head. AGAIN THIS WAS NOT A USER MISS USE OF THE COMPRESSOR. I have received emails from other users that had the same issue with the casing cracking at the base of the compressor cylinder.
Brilliant review as always mate, with lots of great info...Thanks for all the hard work and effort that goes into these video! I am looking into purchasing the Nomad II...So your review helped a lot! Cheers, Mark
I just got the nomad 2. Cant coment to its longevity. But all these small units heck of alot better than a hand pump. Since i cant handle pumping. Getting to old for that.
What exact oil are you using for this?
Link for ebay special?
What is the condition now?
Good to know how it's doing please as considering buying one
Now i now why i am not a fan of PCP rifles, the hassle and expensive of filling them unless you live close to a gunshop
is just not worth it for me.
What exact oil are you using for this?
free hint from someone used to trying to make plastic pipes work.
Love it!!
I have a "e bay special "it has worked very well for the past year, no problems at all 😁👍
Can i get "e bay special "compressor information?
@@dreamofblueturtle go on Ebay and search cp compressors. Mine was made by Davvy but there are tons of Chinese compressors on the bay
@@stefanw5894 Thank you for your favor
Careful tho cause most are scammers
The Yong Heng eBay special is the best for the money. Mine is 2 years old and going strong.
I purchased the
GXCS2 (Orange color) from AMAZON with ex.
This pump as served me
almost everyday for 13.
CLEVER MOVE.
@@AZBADBOYz doing the same here, have 5 very big bottle fills so far....biggest issue is moisture, im in dry california, yet it squeses lots of moisture out of the air, so i have added a dryfilter like the hill pump have on the intake, 2 big filters on the output, and finally the included little filter it came with.....im contemplating setting it up right now, as both my tanks are at 200bar...ohh also running royal purple oil...biggest issue is the time it takes to set up and i like to put ice in my water bucket which complicates the whole thing more
Walmart is now selling the Yong Heng and you can get a 3 year warranty through them too.
Same here, and same oil, too. Pretty happy with that compressor so far.
Very useful review with a nice touch of humor to entertain the audience. Very good work pal. Greetings from Brazil.
Stick to nitrogen only, the oil vapours and the heat will eat you o rings faster.
Roy
My Ebay special is running now since 2017 with only minor issues early on but the chinese seller was great and send spares via express.
Where did you get the compressor from?
Great reply and info
i took a punt at the ebay special after watching this and am amazed how good it is . also compared to the joke price of the nomad 2 its the bargain of the year . thanks AAR for giving me the confidence to buy one
I have also an Ebay special. Great little compressor. I add some vehicle anti freeze to the cooling water, to prevent corrosion . brilliant little bit of kit.
Just Don't use Toyota factory brand anti freeze; it will deteriorate gaskets!!!
Nice "JING ZUAN" sticker on Nomad II...same as on Yong Heng...wouldn't be surprised if they both are made in the same factory
Not the Same as the Nomad,,,are you MAD?
A whole lot of tech is like that. It wouldn't be remotely unusual.
I have a hills compressor brilliant to fill your gun and air bottles just sent it to be serviced which i find is a great pick up and drop off
Just bought one from Pickering guns north York's, cheaper than EBay, and demonstrate set up for me very helpful.
Greatest review of anything ever I have seen. I wish all people do reviews same way. Well done mate!
Great video. Something I have to ponder as I get further into PCPs. For the moment my 68 old body finds my Hill’s pump an interesting upper body exercise.
Same opinion from Belgium ! I'm only 48 ! 🤝🍻
I use my eBay special 3 to 4 times a week and it's coming up to 3 years old still works perfect
What oil do you put in it? And how long would it take to roughly fill a 7 litre tank?
I use number 46 hydraulic oil.
Happy shooting,
Yes please keep us updated about the eBay special! Iam looking for a tuxing TXES031 just because it's cheap and I trust it will work proper.
My eBay special is two years old and never had a problem and i shoot every day
Man, I love Brits and their understated sense of humor.
Loved the nurse innuendo. But, I think it was more than that - Right on the MONEY! or should that be Honey. LOL!
Rumpled, even the self-deprecating humor about the very subject makes Brits all the more warming. Love it.
Same from Belgium ! 👍🍺🍻😉
Ah, don't get me started on the Belgians, and Germans too.
Great people, and humor that surprise hits you, and leaves you rolling in laughter.
Blessings from America.
AHH, Blow it out yer arse!!!
The eBay special. Big name brands, TAKE NOTICE!!!!!
Andy, can you comment on the recent state of the "amazon/ebay special" compressor? Thanks...
Compressors used for filling scuba diving cylinders have a whole set of very strict regulations for air quality which can help ensure a long life for the cylinder.
yong heng almost 3 years ..perfect!
Gary Stratton hi can u fill 80 cubic feet cylinder with this n how much time will it take even after resting
A shame that the Hills unit wasn't yet available. I look forward to hearing about that one at some stage.
Would personally not hesitate buying one .. whenever I first get bought my very first PCP airgun.😁
and don't over run it max fill time is around 30mins, and change the oil when it discolours also better to get a better oil/water separator around £80 on eBay/Amazon ,then it'll last
That video would have taken a lot of work. I have the Air Venturi, works a treat. I could use the electric lift to get me out of bed :)
The air Venturi’s are really nice and neat and compact, really nice. And yes it was several weeks in the making. Have a great day Giles.
Good vid, but cut back on the camera cuts...
eBay special all day long into the second year now and still going strong 💪 buy a bigger water pump add antifreeze to the water unbelievable bit of kit great video
Great review and quality info ! Just got the ebay special after MUCH disappointment with Hatsan Spark. Thanks Andy. Well Done!! W
Well worth the view. Thanks for explaining these models.
YOU SIR, DO THE BEST REVIEWS BY FAR, BRILLIANT. FIRST CLASS EVERY TIME. MICK FROM SURREY.
Great advice! I just bought to yong heng and think it’ll suit my needs best. Texan SS.308 with 4600 psi upgrade kit from AAO.
yong heng works for me for a year now using powermate px compressor oil and rainwater for cooling.
Andy, Greetings! Thank you for taking the time on reviewing the compressors, It really help me to understand the difference on quality and especially on parts and labor taking your word an owner and honest opinion. It really help us all.
Can you do a review on this compressor... is the
Air Venturi EC-3000 Compressor by Hill ...Thank you!
Excellent video Andy. Very informative, and well worth the time and effort.
The Ebay special is also sold thru Walmart. Just got mine. It's not a 4500psi (32Mpa) pump. It's a 4320psi (30Mpa) pump.
Andy on the cheap chinese compressor there is a small hole that the end of the thermostat slots into on the second piston house
Yuppp. If you can work on a lawn mower you can rebuild a yong heng. No point in spending 2 grand on a compressor
I essentially have an Ebay special but an English specification one uk plug and came with a litre of oil and orings etc and very good instructions... IYS ( in your sights) have these
Oh and bought another filter for it just to make sure that the air is dry
It’s the same one with a U.K. kettle lead and £10 worth of oil. All the rest is included in the basic one, oh and £200 more expensive. Thanks for watching
AAR OnAir Andy’s Airgun Reviews great video I remember the minefield when checking it out before buying and for my price range the only contender. All the best.
I also bought the Chinese yong heng compressor .. brilliant and super rapid for my Huben K1 .300 bar. Scary alarm when up to pressure cut off.
An old Jordan Benson & Hedges F1 Team shirt on the wall.....sweet!
No mention of air dryer. Ar they not necessary or did I miss it? Thanks
Great comprehensive vid! Thanks Andy
Thank you Andy. You have helped me settle on the Nomad. Great review.
Yeah not a bad idea letting it cool a bit will never hurt it and only help
My buddy's Yong Heng air compressor blew up right in front of us during filling. I believe his compressor is a bit over a year old. The front plate with the little window to monitor oil level shattered into pieces and spilling oil everywhere. Luckily no one was hurt but just clothes stained with oil. My advice is not to stand in front or near it when filling.
So he dident have the airvent plug in . Many have blown up the same becouse they dident read manual
Same
The question is just for the Sake of time.
@@erik_dk842 Vent plug was installed this is not my first rodeo.
Love the Caterham in the background
Brilliant review as always mate, with lots of great info...Thanks for all the hard work and effort that goes into these video!
I am looking into purchasing the Nomad II...So your review helped a lot!
Cheers, Mark
I'd go the ebay special after watching this. A few extra quid and you could rig it up to a PC water cooling system for cheap also.
Great video but can you please inform me what silicone oil the nomad 2 uses I have searched everywhere but cannot get an answer,Thank you
Andy have you done an up to date review on compressors?
I just got the nomad 2. Cant coment to its longevity. But all these small units heck of alot better than a hand pump. Since i cant handle pumping. Getting to old for that.
So ! I'm happy with my Hill hand pump ( sport is good ) 😁 and no more comments ! Thanks from Belgium ! 👍🤝🍻😉
