- The Omega Seamaster PloProf 1200M is a big watch that comes with a big surprise: It's shockingly massive yet wears quite well, even on smaller wrists. Seemingly indestructible, it's a watch that won't let you down - no matter how adventurous your days may get. It's also a real conversation starter. And in case you ever find yourself in a self-defense kind of situation... well: Just watch the video!
Disclaimer from Robert-Jan: "This Seamaster Ploprof 1200M (reference 224.30.55.21.01.001) is in my possession since 2019 and I don't baby it, as you can see on some of the footage. The spots on inside of the clasp and divers extension is simply dirt."

Thanks for watching!
The Millennium Falcon for the wrist. Very cool watch.
Thanks Ben!
This vid made my day and I’m watching it again while wearing my knuckle duster on orange strap🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks!!
Nice review on a very underrated Omega tool watch
Thanks! And agree - so we thought it's about time to put the spotlight on the PloProf.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
I have this in the white and I love it
Had mine for five years and use it a my daily like many others no problem.
Nice review Robert!
Love mine on vintage seat belt shark mesh & orange isofrane
Thanks! The orange Isofrane is a wonderful addition for sure. Suits the watch!
What a beautiful watch!
Made me chuckle Jan. Nice review of a terrific timepiece. I'm wrestling with whether or not to pick one up since I have a Bienne restored 600. The good news is if I do, my wife will not recognize it as new since they look so similar :)
OMEGA-Shock. Love the watch
Shook RJ's hand while wearing my Ti Ploprof. Quite an honor for me.
Technically it was always 1200m, omega just put 600 on the dial. In their Tests, omega found that it could watch stand 120 bar before the crystal pressed against the hand causing it to stop.
This version is by far the best
Why?
Sapphire insert is nicer, has date which makes the movement choice make sense
@@cve5731Interesting points. I have one of the original 150 made 71’ Omega Seamaster 600m Ploprofs and it also has the date, it’s quite an amazing piece in perfect condition. Thanks for your comment.
The ultimate diver.
I appreciate the history and technical mastery of the original monobloc version, however, it is not an aesthetic I can embrace (too large and awkward looking). I understand Gianni Agnelli, the godfather of style wore one but sadly I'm no style icon and be ballsy enough to wear it over a shirt cuff.
The monobloc Seiko 6159-7701 and its modern interpretation the SLA039J1 is much more appealing to me and my diminutive wrists.
Hello Gregory, thanks for your comment. That Seiko SLA039J1 is definitely a beauty! A bit easier on the wrist for sure :-)
i have an original monobloc one with rubber with the crown at right !
i'ts a monster watch but i like it
That's awesome!!
I would love one RJ but I have chicken wrists 😢😢
I feel you. I suffer from the same... condition 🥲
You might still want to give it a shot if you get the chance to try one on. They wear surprisingly well, even on smaller wrists.
@@FratelloMagazine Yeah I have tried the titanium version (I know RJ doesn’t like that version 😂) just a tad to large for me.
@@timoholz It’s a shame because it’s my favourite dive watch
Try one anyway! Or eat more schnitzels!
😍♥️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks!
Why is steel preferred though?
I like the steel just because of the heft, and the date function, but i wouldn’t mind the titanium either.
Haven't seen the titanium in the flesh, but i here a lot of mixed opinions about it. They who prefer titanium says the weight, dateless dial and the never movement is the reason to go with that one, while the ones preferring steel just says its the way to go. Is there more to it then that?
@@henriklindqvist661 For me (RJ), there are two important other things I considered when buying the steel version: The original from the 1970s was also in steel, and therefor this re-edition from 2009 is a bit more close to the original. Second, I don't like the shark bracelet in titanium. It makes an awkward squeeky sound when it moves, like it is made from plastic. The steel version doesn't have this "feature". What I like about the titanium version, is that it has the newer movement and no date. Oh, last but not least, I really like the case back on the steel version, with the motif that shows resemblance with the original PloProf. So, it is very personal, and there's no good and bad here. Just preferences that suits one best.
Yeah, the closed case-back in the steel version is gorgeous! Thanks for the reply, specially about the squeaky sound, thats a real bummer.
I don't like they deviated from the mono block construction by adding a case back cover. That's a deal breaker for me.
So you should either opt for the new one, or get a vintage one :-)
What about the baby ploprof👶
We love that one!!
You titled it "Why you need one" and then focus is history, specs, production, variations,... and very short, and yet not clearly explain why we need one. Why? Because it's a good conversation starter? Interesting design? Why? Why you made such a video or title?? Disappointing.
Because of all that history, specs, etc. Perhaps you missed it ;-)
@@FratelloMagazine who just layout the plain facts of tech specs and history without why those facts are amazing and says that's the reason why we need to buy? Please look at ur work critically.
@@kevinhan721 We get the feeling that reasoning with you will not lead to anything constructive. Again, the historic value of the watch, its design, the impressive specifications are all reasons as such. RJs sincere enthusiasm for this watch might not work for you though, and that’s fine.
@@kevinhan721 oh please grow up. everything is opinion. take it or leave it.
