- NOTICE: This cave is privately owned by the Burns Masonic Lodge #97. Entry is by their permission only. This is Malheur Cave in eastern Oregon. In this video, the water level is slightly lower than in the previous version. At 0:34 is the entrance. Notice how smooth the ceiling is. At 0:48 notice how green the ceiling is. At 1:06 the ceiling isn't so smooth. At 1:33 there is another spot where the ceiling isn't so smooth. At 1:45 notice how the cave wall is white on the bottom but darker on top. At 2:09 the cave gets wide briefly, like it almost had a side tube. At 2:19 notice the rock on the floor is the same shape and size as the hole in the ceiling. At 2:28 notice how the bottom of the wall looks like it's pealing off. At 2:53 notice how flat the floor is. At 3:09 notice the left side of the cave has a small ditch. At 3:25 notice the rock sticking up out of the floor. At 3:35 notice the ceiling has a ridge. At 3:56 notice the white stuff on the wall/ceiling. At 4:07 the bleachers are visible. At 4:50 there is an electrical conduit on the ceiling. Also notice the gold and silver coloring in the crack. At 5:33 there is a concrete slab on the floor. At 5:45 notice the breakdown rock ahead. At 6:20 I'm looking back toward the bleachers. At 8:00 there's a dent in the wall.

Usually tunnels like these were lava flow tubes. There smooth because it was liquid stone flowing. The bleachers in the other hand lol definitely natural formation 😂

It is really great to see all these videos from this cave again. The first and only time I've been here was back at spring break as a teenager in the mid-+1970s We were fortunate enough to have a canoe and flashlights with us and the water level then was not to far past the bleachers as we put in and paddled back all the way until the ceiling came down to low for us to go any further, though we could see it opened up into a bigger cavern behind where we eneded. Must have paddled at least a mile or more and saw wrecks along the way from a bygone era. Such a neat visit I'll never forget the adventure in this cave. Cheers!

I was in there a number of years ago and I only remember one set of benches. If I'm not mistaking there is another lava tube nearby. I too had heard of the meetings but there was no symbol at either entrance!!! Thanks for the video it brings back memories of the even larger lava tubes by Bend Oregon!

Its looks like a great way to do things you dont want anyone to see or hear with the bleachers in that far. So youre sitting on these bleachers in a pitch black cave with a little light in the middle and looking back down at the entrance you can see anyone that would shine their light wondering what is going on in this cave.
There is a curve in the cave between the entrance and the bleachers, so you can't see the bleachers from the entrance.
This is amazing.. thank you for showing some masonry this what a lodge looked like back then. Amazing pure excitement. 🙏

As stated by the owner, this cave has been used to hold "meetings" of, I think he said, 137 members, as recently as 2019. It is still actively used by masons. The question is why???? Why would the most influential men in society (judges, police chiefs, lawyers, mayors, senators, etc etc) feel the need to venture deep underground, into this dark, dank, unwelcoming environment to "meet" with eachother?! The land owner (mason) said in another comment that it's essentially "a camping trip for brothers"...🤣 Yeah, okay. Why would these men, who are used to being accommodated in the highest scale of luxury, some quite elderly, stumble down into that hole? Seems the obvious answer is they are doing things down there that they don't want ANYONE to see. Tell me what else makes sense. 🤷🏻♂️

I also love how everybody thinks Freemasons are like only the rich and famous. There's literally a mason lodge around the corner from my house where one of my neighbors is a member. I went with a group on Halloween to that cave with permission of the owners. ( they stopped giving permission) we took kayaks in and camped inside the cave. At the bottom there is a hidden spring and a rope that leads to the ceiling where there are cave tunnels above the water. The water is warm and crystal clear. We paddled to the end of the cave and had water fights and finished with a costume Halloween party. Too bad the cave is off limits now.
The rope is still there but I didn't try to climb it. I've never touched the water, so I didn't realize it was warm.
That sounds like a blast-! U should upload any film U guys might have took of that party. It would be interesting to see what it all looked like the water and all.
