Commented on Instagram on how much I liked the shape. Seeing it a second time, I like it even more! I've seen some interesting concrete seating projects that would leave me confused as to what I'm supposed to do (is it a planter? retaining wall? art? a bench? all of them?) Your design not only looks pleasing, but conveys subtle, clear instructions (I am a chair. Sit at this location, facing this direction.) Thanks for the inspiration!
But he didnt. All that styrofoam filler... all that useless hotglue.... A few screws with have fixed everything in place perfectly. Also the inner part could have been made with scrap wood. the screes are than recycable and in addition you can screw everything back together for creating another chair easily. I see lots of improvisation here.
Just when I thought there weren't any new form making techniques, you show the bracing method to strengthen the form. Even for smaller projects I think this method might be easier the pocket hole screws or similar methods. Love the shape and design of the chair! Thanks for all the knowledge and inspiration, Ben!
Loved it the first time. Now even more. Could we get an update now that it's been over 2.5 years? How is it holding up? Anything you'd change looking back? Thanks!!
A quick tip for helping remove air bubbles: use a hammer and lightly tap the form several times starting at the bottom and moving up. We used this technique when doing industrial construction on areas where the vibrators don’t fit.
I appreciate your design.... would you consider including a PDF of the different angles you used ? It is exactly what l was looking for . It would mean a lot to me if you could. Thanx
are there further instructions as to how to make this on your websites? some more measurements maybe? thanks, i like this a lot i’m going to attempt to re-create it

I am not being disrespectful in any way, but concrete and foam is much more accessible than youtube - if you’re keen, I’ll literally get some shipped to you if you had a PO Box (nothing should come in the way of learning)
@@Worldsbestname The issue is space hahah. i live in Singapore and we live in a apartment type house. search Singapore HDB . the rules here are so strict hahah. but I attended a 3 days workshop to learn things like this. its so expensive and not that experimental but its a good experience.
If you did the same thing but used aircrete (a little mixer drill bit with some sort of mesh tip will do the job), and some fibreglass = lighter and solid
biggest concern would be removal, the foam works well because its easy to break up. Plywood, even waxed, will be difficult to get out if it gets wedged tightly. If you changed the geometry of the leg so that it didn't back inwards it might be easier but idk how easy it will be. It might be easier to just make an inner melamine mold similar to the outer one, i think you'd be more likely to reclaim more pieces.
Like Troy said, the concrete shrinks when it cures. You wouldn't get solid pieces out. If you make an inner mould, you need to be very thoughtful about how you assemble it so you can get get it out once the concrete has cured and shrunk down on it. Relief cuts might help so you can break out solid material or allow you to bend it enough to get it out.
Might be a dumb question and I’m sure there are health hazards but if you were struggling with getting the foam out could you have put the whole chair in a fire pit and let it melt out basically? (Probably would be pretty messy)
You say you have nothing to worry about. Send it back to Oklahoma with Mike lol. That thing would be picked up quick. Haha. The wind here is insane even before the tornadoes.
Jacob, the desk you made for your mom is fire 🔥 I think you might enjoy making some furniture out of concrete. Some really amazing wood and concrete pieces out there.
you have more knownledge than me but I think your mix is always too wet. When you vibrate, it's obvious there is too much water, so i'm not sure you reach 4k psi.
Great build! Bonus points for pointing out simple ways to reduce the waste generated by concrete projects.

I like that you did all the cutting with basic saw and edge!
This is one of my favorite of your projects, Ben. Thanks for sharing!

Coolest concrete project ever! I'm giving it a try...
I like the fact that there is less sponsors/ads in your videos. Makes it way more enjoyable! Love the chair!

Cool chair! Is the Quikrete 5000 the same product you would use for a concrete countertop?
That's a great question - we actually have a countertop mix, specifically for casting countertops. It comes in a gray and a tint-based white.
Incredible design an execution! Have you ever used cellular light weight concrete?

U made it look a lot easier than it really is, most ppl struggle to get the consistency right, it ends up cracking and chipping. Well done.
Wonderful piece of furniture for exterior use. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome design!
Cool chair
love the chair
Isnt the rebar for tensile strength? What tensile properties does this concrete have?
As with all (plain) concrete, none or 10% if its compressive strength at best.
Heated concrete chairs coming soon ?
A chair for the ages!
How do you love it? Is it strong enough to use a dolly on side?
Bravo sir.
I appreciate your design.... would you consider including a PDF of the different angles you used ?

This is so cool! Nice design! congratulations on this one!
Great idea and design! Love it. Would love to see some similar pieces to go with it at the container house

Can i use Polystyrene too?
Something that will last for years love it.
Do you need to put any sort of finish on it?
You don't have to, but we recommend using Acrylic Concrete Cure & Seal (to seal, while it cures).
@@quikrete most of the buildings here in greece are made with concrete and need regular maintenance to keep them from deteriorating.
*I know I have no access to all these stuffs but that was satisfying to watch. More concrete diy pls :)))*

Good, but i think it's a nice idea to add some wood for seating and back. Depend on climate it can be too hot or too cold. Thanks!
Do you have the plans and dimensions for this project? Thanks!
Very cool build!!
Cool design
It really looks cool
Love this! Everything you do is well done.
Did you sand it or seal it?
as colin furze put it CAD, cardboard aided design :P
He's like - "Who's this Colin Furze?" then gets his mind blown.
Great job and video!
Bravo!
Very nice - built to last and just needs a few cushions
Great design, Ben! Do you think it would have worked with stacked Plywood as a filler (waxed), to make his a more "batch friendly" build?

Sir
Plz share the dimensions of this chair
GORGEOUS!
been waiting for this one!!
Really cool.....thanks for posting.
love concrete things!
I would love a price breakdown of this project. Seems relatively inexpensive and looks great!
Agreed!
where do you get the quik crete 5000? bc home depot and lowes never carry it. they carry the regular stuff
Wowww this is so cool!!!
Hope I can make something like this
Nice work with the chair and sorry to hear about the vandalism.
What was the total cost for this project
Too cool.
you are awesome :)
That's pretty awesome! 🔥 🔥
Wow! That is amazing! :D
Wow wow wow
Impressive and thank you but I can find softer furniture to trip up and hit my head on.
А теперь с паралельной стороны сделай такой же из метала и соедени все брусками деревянными, и получится лавка в стиле модерн
Nice 👍. A coat of wax might be nice on the surface 😀
That's a great idea - you could also apply acrylic concrete cure and seal (to seal, while it cures).
Could I ask you to make me 2?
wow!

It looks really fucking good but I don't think this would be the post comfortable thing to sit on
Lo puede traducir al español
I-C-O-N-I-C but I can't do this.
Do you consider all the CO2 that your concrete builds set off? Especially because you are sort of an influencer (sorry for that word)
make an aircrete one
Good idea. But a lot of garbage. Use plywood to limit empty space. For thin walls use a reinforcement mesh with a diameter of 3-5 millimeter.
Looks a pretty cool project. I'll keep it in mind. Thx for the inspiration #grobklotz

Looks incredible, but theres no way that ain’t cracking in a few days...
Could you explain why :)? (I know nothing about concrete)
👏👏👏👏
the rebars actually were useless in the spot they are placed.
If You didn't give a name to the chair, call the design "Sizif chair" :D ;D :D

when are you ever gonna have a 5 thousand pound person sit on that chair? I really don't think using Quikrete really matters
Now let’s see it done without a ton of wasted materials ..., reusable mold, reusable foam ....

Take 1 hit or 1 sip every time he says Melamine, foam or concrete..
