Peter Kelly Thank you! They got a lot of encouragement to keep them up during the rehearsals. The girl trumpeter is my student and my daughter, and she didn’t play like that until this concert.
Yeah no problem! I just graduated from high school and I would see a lot of people with their bells down. It really takes the sound away. Now in college everyone plays with the bells up. So make sure she keeps doing that and she will get far and she will get noticed.
The drummer was fantastic, the sax player was smooth as glass and the conductor was a hoot! Great job to everyone in this middle school band. That was so much fun to watch I had to watch it twice. 👏👏👏
@@favasoli1 I have played drums since age 3 grew up with a dad who loved jazz and had drums. He introduced me to Gene Krupa and this song early on and it's a very difficult song dynamically for a drummer with the various solos etc. I love watching school bands play it just to see how much fun they have with it regardless of skill, especially the drummers. It's such a bundle of joy to play. I saved it for future entertainment. 😀
They looked like they were having fun, which is probably why they performed so well. It's all about being comfortable in the environment you're in and being able to unleash yourself without fear of criticism. I could imagine failing a solo and still getting hype from this wonderful conductor. Great job guys.
I was thinking about auditioning for middle school all state jazz band but I had one day to do my audition by myself. I wasn’t gonna until I stumbled upon this the night before and thought it looked cool. I gave the audition a try and I made it in. Best 2 days of my life!!!!!!
Most notably the part right after the drum solo in the beginning, the clarinet solo (we don’t have a clarinet) and a few other things were just simplified in some way. It didn’t sound as good as the original, but you could definitely tell what song it was from hearing it.
Thank you for your comment! I wouldn’t compare your Middle School Jazz Band to this band because this is an All-County Jazz Band that players needed to audition for.
derpbearfilms It’s probably because this arrangement of “Sing, Sing, Sing” is for Middle School Jazz Band which generally consists of five saxophonists that don’t need to double on clarinet or flute since they are so young. Kenny G is famous for playing soprano sax, not the alto, tenor, and baritone sax featured here.
I've never seen a middle school band where the trumpets keep their horns up. Nice Job guys

My jazz band trumpets keep getting told to keep their horns up 😂
@@tq7013 out trumpets are always playing like it's a clarinet 😂
@@favasoli1 that’s so awesome! In my band the director has to constantly remind them about it🤣

I agree with everything you said. Thank you for watching it twice!

You already know it's good when the director is keeping the tempo by using a very sophisticated technique called vibing
Very tight, especially for this age group!
YOOooooooooooooooooooo the sax player definitely played the lick in their solo. IM DEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
The reason this band is so good is cause of the hype they get from the conducter. I love it!
That Boi Keny Thank you! I will let him know!

Very well stated!
The conductor guy can probably hype up paint drying.
squid din Just about!
@@favasoli1 I'm more surprised that you still reply to videos over 2 years old than getting a heart. Cool.
What can I say? I really appreciate the feedback.☺️
These kids have a sense of rhythm! Best middle schol jazz band I've seen by far :))
"Bass drum has left the server"
The conductor is the best part
Brian Dauch He stole the show☺️
Which is cr@ppy. The show was about the kids, not some starved for attention director.
@@moncorp1 he inspired the kids

No way!!! What an amazing story! What state are you in?
Cara Favasoli South Dakota
Dude that tenor saxophonist was so cool! Now I know what I should work on!
Bobikeda6 He is cool. You should hear what he sounds like now!
Ian muñoz
Great job guys! We played this at our Middle School also but sadly it was missing some parts from the original song. Loved the performance!
Llama Gaming Thank you so much! Which parts were missing from your arrangement?

Cara Favasoli would you happen to have the tenor saxophone part for this song? I couldn’t find the full version anywhere online.
@@Angelosflutecorner Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I don’t have this chart. The conductor, Melton Mustafa, probably still has it.
@@favasoli1 That’s alright, no worries
Great Job Guys! The trumpets kept there horns up, the baritone did not blast, and the conductor is funny!
Did I hear the lick?😂😂
this band director knows how to have fun with a drummer!
That’s for certain!
The melody is so good!
You are great
Definitely better than my middle school jazz band that’s for sure
I’m in my middle school jazz band 😫

Same this is so much better than my middle school jazz band too
WOW!! Very nice!!
Who's the lead tenor?
Ian Muñoz!
Played the same arrangement back when I was in middle school! Definitely didn't sound as tight as this but it was good times
Good job guys (and gals). Amazing performance!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
who is the drummer he did great just wish we could get more view of him
galican animates His name is Claudio Silva. I’m sorry I couldn’t video his solo from where I was seated.
@@favasoli1thank you do you know any way that i can reach out to him??
galican animates He goes to my daughter’s high school. I can relay your contact information, if you would like.
Directors definitely got that energy ...
Couldn’t agree more!
If you're going to be out front, that is the way to do it....😎
That's what I'm talking about 😎👍🎷🎷
I like that they didn’t really copy Benny to the T. They had more improvised parts. Or at least in a different key.
LOVE IT
Loved💖💖💖💖
Thank you for watching!
Who is this arranged by?
@@gavin512s I will find out for you.
@@gavin512s It might be this one: ua-cam.com/video/tJAxiQ6vME0/v-deo.htmlsi=edXnKWQKDqNULR5s
Will keep on listening to confirm.
The thing is that my band is playing this and we are not nearly as good
Remember, this is an All-County Big Band, not a regular school band. Would love to hear you guys playing this.
Why is a saxophonists playing the melody, this was written for clarinet, and popularized by BENNY GOODMAN, not Kenny G

@@favasoli1 I just like making the comparison between clarinet and sax, Benny and Kenny, because it rhymes
derpbearfilms Funny!
Sorry not good for a college band
These are middle schoolers.
But OUTSTANDING for a JUNIOR HIGH band, eh? 😉
