  • The first Episode in the side project series
We take a closer look at my shop built Hybrid Vapour Blaster.
A combination of Baltic Birch upper shell and a welded Aluminum lower collector.
This isn't thoroughly detailed how-to video, more of a informative guided tour .
    HOWEVER!
I will add that I did not mention having a check valve in the air line leading to the gun at some point, this prevents water from potentially being pushed back into your compressor, It's pretty important I'd say.
These 2 Channels basically gave me all the information/inspiration to make this build possible.
If you have not already seen their stuff definitely check them out!

Keep up the good work! Far more organized than my attempts to explain my vapor blaster, that's for sure!

Hi great video, @13min 10 sec you mention that the pump is 3/4 HP - the rating plate says 9.8A at 120V which is 9.8 x 120 = 1,176W.
    As 1HP = 746W your pump is 1,176 / 746 = 1.58 HP. Hoping this info helps others…

Very very in-depth! I like those brakes on the casters as they look substantial and easy to actuate. Id say within a year max I'll be making a vapor blast cabinet. Just a must have.

Hey thanks for watching! I've been having a blast (sorry) with this thing and only really just started dialing it in. I really do need a dry blaster too though, for more aggressive cleaning. Just another tool in the arsenal!

Really cool Doc! That nozzle you made is excellent. I want to build a cabinet also, so this has helped me lots. Much appreciated. Great video, keep up the good work 🍻

Thanks Doc, a great vid! I was basically unaware of vapour blasting and have only recently purchased a traditional dry media blaster (it's not even set up yet!). Hmmm.. maybe I need both! 🤣

Yes I think having both options is a great idea, I'm considering getting a smaller regular blast cabinet for removing heavier corrosion and paint especially from steel parts. The vapour blaster is amazing but its not a all in one unfortunately.

What medium are you using and what do you suggest for filtering the slurry? I'm using glass beads and find it great to use, but difficult to clean...

I'm using glass bead too, still looking for a good way to filter/clean it. I just drain it right now and rinse it best I can.

Do you think a blast cabinet from like harbor fright could be converted over?

    • @DocJonesGarage
      @DocJonesGarage  3 роки тому +1
