- India, Amritsar: the Sikh capital must be the most beautiful city in India, it's downtown is incredible and resembles EU countries. But when I finally made it to the Golden Temple, the local Sikh told me I can't go inside without buying trousers first...

I lived in Punjab as a foreigner in Chandigarh for 5 yrs my best memory was visiting Amritar n also watching the change guard at the Indo Pakistan border...it was in 1998...oh wow..the Sikhs are the best people in the world!

I am SIKH from AMRITSAR ...they are actually feeling sorry for you that you have to struggle to find clothes at genuine rates.
'BICHARA" in english translates to helpless or somebody who is very innocent. They are actually trying to help you out.

The price is Generous, I can understand their language the sikh guy told shopkeeper to show cheapest of tousers. And do not charge unnecessary.
I'm also a sikh i always help everyone from getting in a trap. I don't know why people loot foreigners they're also humans.

Excellent video Michele! Everything you said here about the Sikhs holds true! In 2012, a man with a gun went into the Sikh Temple in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and killed eight people. The city was outraged and showed full support and respect for these people. Happily, they are still respected here today, and rightfully so, deserve it! I hope you’ll be able to share more on the Golden Temple. 👏👍🏆

Michele I am Indian Rs 300 was good price. They must have said Rs 100 for cotton pyjama , which are very thin.... often sold in open by hawkers.

Let me explain if anyone is confused with what happened-
So its kind a gesture of respect to wear pants while entering the gurudhawara. So , the sikh man asked him to wear pants. They both were speaking in punjabi so they were just saying that tourist are not aware of such practises and its difficult for them get the pants at good price.
Afterwards in shop the sikh man was asking shopkeeper to give the cheapest pants as the man would only wear once so afterwards it wont be of any use. He also managed to bargain with shopkeeper and provide of discount of 150rs.
So the lad was not looted and the sikh man genunanly helped him
At shop they were saying that he don’t need expensive trousers just give him the cheapest one because he only needs it for the Temple.

Apart from Amritsar I have been to New Delhi, Calcutta, Goa, Jaipur, Bangalore, Bombay and visited the Taj Mahal in Agra but a lot has changed since then :-)

short summary of what we Sikhs believe
*main believe of Sikhism*
in sikhi or as the western called it Sikhism 😊 in Sikhism we believe in one God as.. guru nanak ji first fonder of sikhi and the prophet of Sikhism said there is no Muslims or Hindu or Christians there is only one God.. *i later explain why* ...and a sikh means a learner and and guru the teacher.. know the last guru is guru granth sahib(11 guru) or in English holy book..... as the 10 guru have written down Everything for Sikhs to follow and said now the Sikhs will learn from guru granth sahib and gurudwara are our temples... it is only a gurudwara because it has copy of the guru granth sahib in it..... ( gurudwara means a doorway to guru)
ABOUT GOD (*here is the explanation*)
we believe that there is one God but people give God different names and ...people worship God in from of statues like Hindu worship statue they have give God a face a gender and the in Islam they have given God a name(even though Allah just means god in Arabic language but they say saying things like allah is the only god) and saying God lives in heaven but we believe God is everywhere it is creater of reality and is reality itself
*Are all Gods same?*
yes it is the same God but people interpretation of God is different and through guru teaching we will connect with God (side note guru is same as prophet) there are two kinds of sikhs one are sikh the one that cut hair and don't follow the guru teaching but still believe in god....and the gurusikhs (every Sikh end goal is to become a gurusikh) the one who follow the guru teaching.. a.k.a the khalsa the people who carry the little knife and wear the 5ks
1 kirpan (a small curved sword of any size, shape or metal to protect themselves and anyone in need)
2 kesh (unshorn hair and beard)
3 kangha (a comb usually wooden to symbol clearness)
4 kara (a bracelet, usually made of iron or steel to symbol the infinite of God)
5 kachera (an undergarment)
Khalsa means pure and only the khalsa are allowed to carry the little knife
WHAT HELL AND HEAVEN IN SIKHISM
well to simplify we don't believe in hell ...as the world we live in is hell we just reincarnation over and over again until we get ego free and until bad karma get cleaned and then go to heaven ....like if you have like lots of bad krama you just reincarnation into animals over and over as animals have souls like we do everything is equally in God eyes the first guru nanak ji said that there are 84 lakh animals form the worst of the worst will reincarnation into before they are reincarnation into a human being again if you don't have a lot of bad karma but you didn't connect with God then you reincarnation into human beings again and this time you will reincarnation into a religious family

side note the name waheguru is what sir guru nanak jev ji called god but guru nanak ji did say that people give him different names as when God is described in guru granth sahib it is written in number like it is written Ek Onkar meaning one God or the number 1 but people need a name to chant and pray to that why guru nanak ji give a name to God the name waheguru meaning wonders Lord... that why name waheguru was given.... thought I should explain it clearly

When they ask for your hotel he was telling other guy ask him how far is your hotel if its near they will take u there so u can change the pants they saw your location it was far then they decided to took u to a random clothing shop
The shopkeeprr said 600 700 rs then they said do cheaper he just want to wear one time and for golden trmple only he said 450 they dropped it down to 300

I visited it as adult after 84 along with my mantle father to attend last rites of my granny as pandit told my presence was needed,we had grand welcome with every eye staring at us,i vowed never to visit it again.

Very confusing episode. I assumed that the Siks were peaceful, but their attitude is absolutely dishonest that they take him to buy at a place chosen for it. They are authoritarian.
I don’t think you understand what’s going on here. This is highest & most pious of sikh temple where certain rules are applied just like Catholic Church. You are not allowed to go in there with shorts no matter how hot the weather is. They are helping guy to find cheapest summery trousers so he can cover his legs as not to break Sikh traditions. They are being very kind and genuine helpfulful people especially to foreigners. I think it’s fair to ask any foreigner to respect their host countries traditions.
