Pos5 is a role with a lot of CONTROL to it. Your cores can't afford to miss farm, so you're setting the pace of your lane. You need to decide when to harass, when to pull, when to pressure for a kill, when to roam, when to stack. As the game goes on your cores come online, but you're still a major pace-setter. You're most likely in charge of your team's vision, which will determine what order you take objectives in. If you've got saves, you decide who lives. If you've got disables, you decide who dies.
@@Ninjat126 only if your team allows it. They may just buy wards and plant them in selfish positions for themselves to farm and other teammates blame you for no vision. (I chose silencer) I noticed that we didnt had any support, so i said I'd go support which I did, however, the rest of our team didn't exactly take the role that they chose to be. We had a feeding TA whom I've given her a ton of early farm, but when the time came to fighting, would be either passive and watch or run away with FULL HP/MP alongside me (who was near death.) (Late game, ta would have nonsense items and kept buying and selling her blink dagger for no reason.) We had a NP who kept trying to push mid. Told him to push either off or safe, he would but 'only' when the enemy was there. (Also, he never once came to teamfight) We had a LC who kept starting fights without the group, never pinged, never said anything then after she solo fed, said "I pinged, team sux". I don't even know why he said that tbh. The only offlaner that consistently buys auras in this meta is Brood and she's only picked in 7k+ anyway. The most popular offlaners are Mars, Axe DK and SK. Neither buys any auras in any bracket.
@@oyuyuy Almost all of these heroes can buy itens that provides utility for his team, and that was what he's trying to say. U can build assault, halberd, atos, pipe, sheevas and so on. U don't do it "only for you", you see? Is always to counter or give some utility.
You, nice video, i were needed some time to learn this, back in the days when i played dota, "the guys" teached me it, and i later knew what hero do what to be able to play like this, thats awesome that you telling people how to play in such nice and easy to study way!
Jenkins: Why you are high skill but low mmr. Speed: You have low mmr because you don't have gameleap subscription. BSJ: You have low MMR because you belong there, you aren't as good as you think you are. 🤣
even in low 5k my games dont really tend to last very long, and im pretty sure the average 8k pub is like 30 minutes. this video seems to be catered to lower level players but you tried to universalize it in a way that doesnt really seem to be correct, im not sure why.
Agree, but what he means is in pub, in the end it would be better to prolong the games, for a good reasons: late game war tends to end in 3 to 5 man wipe, and thats when buyback starts coming in. Those buybacks creating a gold gaps, and in the end the team with high gold lead would win the war easier and push faster after that. The keyword here is "chaos", since most of the times we hv low to zero coordination starting from drafting phase. This would be different if u playing with ur frens or one team counter the others pretty hard.
Dark Willow is the ultimate pub support. Can control the enemy 3 different ways, solo kill with bedlam, immunity from right-clickers (+ targeted spells) and level 25 attack speed with aghs is damage you can't ignore. Also, she has FIVE spells!!
Not to be that guy, but that's the Shoto. And yes, Shoto characters are probably the most well rounded characters in the FGC, its an apt description for Mario heroes.
@@PANICWORKS Incorrect. Ryu is a shoto, but not all shotos are Ryu. Shoto is a subcategory of characters that wield a fireball, an uppercut, and a tatsu, but that doesn't make them all a "jack of all trades" which is what Ryu is designed to be. Akuma is a shoto, but he's far, far from jack of all trades; in fact he's a glass cannon whose weaknesses easily get taken advantage of by the competent opponent.

1- pick heroes that make up for game needs (e.g. pushing) 2- pick heroes that scale because pub games go late and there is a lot of space on the map 3- pick heroes that fulfil the duties of that role 4-do not pick heroes that are countered by the same heroes that counter your team's hovered or picked heroes / pick opposed to your team's weaknesses 5- pick "Mario heroes" if you have to pick first and might be countered, because they will always be generally effective (tip for offlane specially) Bonus tip from me: don't try to copy pro level strats because they might not work in you level (IM LOOKING AT YOU COLLAPSE MAGNUS SPAMMERS)
i remember before the immortal rank, Divine was the highest and i was ~3000 leaderboard with a 5.8k mmr (eu server) i quit at the time, and came back to the game recently, calibrated Archon 2, somewhere around 2.5k mmr. followed your instructive videos on how this game should actually be played, meta, etc. and now im 5.3k and climbing even further thanks to you (Y) Hope to see more videos like those ones in the next patch (which is soon to come before the next TI) Cheers!
So essentially as support based on this video and Experience. Make sure you pick a hero that able to do multiple things, Essentially heroes like Shaman or Jakiro is a good example here. They can push, they can farm, they can scale really well on the late game by either pushing and dealing lots of damage in one fixed place. The problem with pubs is that support get too attached to supporting and sacrificing themselves. You'll need an item regardless the position you're in. Building safe item is essential for every support the followed by 1/2 more core item to counter enemies heroes. I played a lot of games in lower rank with my friends. The support always stuck making a core item straight away ignoring a way to safe their cores. Then they tend to pick hero that is technically rolling a dice such as pudge or Mirana. Or something that is ridiculously high skilled pos 4 rubick/pango or something that require a good communication such as AA/Grim. After checking my Ancient/Divine bracket stats, it is true that most of my win come from heroes that can actually do something in early to late game.
Dang you’re correct, weird that this don’t happened in LoL often. I haven’t played LoL in years but I remembered their pub game end quick they always likes to fight and group up.
even topson's favorite pub hero is sniper while comp primal; what i hate the most about low mmr picks is the 2 and 3 support picks because they don't know how to end the game fast and just get outscaled so badly and become useless. Last game i had mid kotl vs clinkz (became useless real fast vs oneshot our team real fast) and the one before mid silencer vs arc (game went long, he soloed the game)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I am so sick of some absurd pickers, going dazzle oracle in crusader... jesus dude we crusader, just pick warlock or shadow shaman
I win super hard games with qop pos5 or ember pos4 solo queue in legend-ancient bracket with this mindset building into an annoying crowd controller, instigating, joining all the fights and just farm while warding-dusting, gets blamed if i have neither (cause on cd). My cores will NEVER have buybacks in mid-late game. Dota is fun.
You're spot on. I'd also like to believe that if the game isn't going very well in the early game that the team of 5 randoms start to doubt each others abilities. ( This shotcall my teammat to smoke gank them in their triangle feels so bad cause my team dunno what to do in the fight blah blah. )
This also works on many MOBA. That also kind of works in reverse but sometimes a good hero for pub is only references for Pro and work in reverse too. Nice advice
if you want to win pubs, no matter the patch, you can just just pick nature prophet, antimage, or any other pusher+escape hero, rush travel boots, then linken's and go full on ratdota other examples are dark seer, hoodwink, invoker, monkey king, phantom lancer, slark, queen of pain, meepo, and underlord
I'm and Oracle player in 1.5k mmr bracket (high guardian, low crusader) and I lose a looooooooooooot. My mechanics and understanding of the hero is great but you can't do much with such a defensive hero. Carries generally wanna fight always in this bracket and don't farm. Better heroes are Shaman and warlock etc, just like Jenkins explains in this video. Excellent video!
So true sir, I've been playing lion and winter as pos 5 for more than 30 games and I really understand what u mean scaling heroes. Even my team going to feed i can "hold" the game for 10-15 min with lion finger's of death or keep my core alive with winter heal.
you are exactly right. we watch professional games pick the heroes and fail most of the times. And another thing I noticed is, as I am playing dota for like 8 years on and off, during 2014-2016 if you are good at a carry hero, you can pick that hero and win almost every game even if your teammates do crazy shit. But now it is not the same, no matter how good you are with your hero, you can't win a game without team. you will have to fnd a way to cordinate the team and do Rosh or gank or push. if not you are done. At least show some skills in the begining and make the others follow you. adding to this, I beleive ratting is not very famous now for the same reason. Believe me when I say, I used to wing game with a Heart Wind Ranger just by myself. It was a crazy build but it worked back in 20015.
5:54 the irony in this is me as a main pos 4 player actually win more and easier on pos 5 because I have the bad habit at getting extremly pissed off by my pos 5 playing like a pos 4 (especially if its a game where a carry player plays pos 5 because of role Q games) and then I play worse because it pisses me off how bad this role is getting played and on pos 5 I am more chill and I am very good at dewarding/warding so I usually just out vision the enemy most of the time and win without having farm (or getting extremly farmed with techies pos 5 because I stop splitpush with mining one lane down and switching up lanes so the enemy dont know where I am (depends also on which tower you should protect) :D I sucks to say that but if I wanted to climb I guess I had to play pos 5 more..
The entry statement is sooo true, just seeing players in low ranks thinking they are the new topson or the new yapzor etc picking mk pos 4 going 0-7 in the first 5 mins or pos 4 wr and still going for mid items

I was literally thinking I can't win as five when he says "bullshit. That's bullshit." : (
"Offlane builds Aura items"
Me, Offlane player: "What the fuck is an Aura Item?"
Is always to counter or give some utility.
ayo jenkins video with some actual cinematography POG
A perfect video for me damn
You, nice video, i were needed some time to learn this, back in the days when i played dota, "the guys" teached me it, and i later knew what hero do what to be able to play like this, thats awesome that you telling people how to play in such nice and easy to study way!
First time hearing about mario heroes 🤣 Thanks for this
Hey Jenkins I've watched a lot of your videos and this one really impressed me, loved your energy man!
Jenkins: Why you are high skill but low mmr.
Speed: You have low mmr because you don't have gameleap subscription.
BSJ: You have low MMR because you belong there, you aren't as good as you think you are. 🤣
I am so Happy to see that you are making frequent videos in UA-cam love you Jenkins
even in low 5k my games dont really tend to last very long, and im pretty sure the average 8k pub is like 30 minutes. this video seems to be catered to lower level players but you tried to universalize it in a way that doesnt really seem to be correct, im not sure why.
Love the production quality on this one homie, keep at it
finally i understand everything in pubs, now lets play pudge! :D
Great video. Very well explained and I like the new professional looking editing style.
Dark Willow is the ultimate pub support. Can control the enemy 3 different ways, solo kill with bedlam, immunity from right-clickers (+ targeted spells) and level 25 attack speed with aghs is damage you can't ignore.
Also, she has FIVE spells!!
Those close up camera shots, never realized how beautiful Jenkins eyes are. So dreamy!
A better example for a “generic” character is the Ryu. That’s the archetype/lingo that everybody uses in FGC, and it predates Mario in Smash.
Florida Gateway College?
Not to be that guy, but that's the Shoto. And yes, Shoto characters are probably the most well rounded characters in the FGC, its an apt description for Mario heroes.
@@SecureLemons the Fighting Game Community
@@PANICWORKS Incorrect. Ryu is a shoto, but not all shotos are Ryu. Shoto is a subcategory of characters that wield a fireball, an uppercut, and a tatsu, but that doesn't make them all a "jack of all trades" which is what Ryu is designed to be. Akuma is a shoto, but he's far, far from jack of all trades; in fact he's a glass cannon whose weaknesses easily get taken advantage of by the competent opponent.
All players that play ranked need to see this, some of the best tips out there.
Love your vids bro! :)
Jenkins more like Chickens
I like the new quality editing :)
Will anyone read my Luki x Masao hentai fanfic?
Wait you're a facebook bassist
Very nice, made my work day so much better. Thanks for the content Jenkins
So it was pro player's fault all along?
Very important video.
A lot of people follow pro players picks/moves/builds without thinking WHY the pro player is doing such.
XD
Thank u sir.....my MMR is growing just because of u 🤗 n i m subscribed to ur channel !
Wow, Jenkins actually is not a bunch of pixels. I love new quality.
my boy jencums doing a good job editing his videos nicely done, now i have some ransom let me describe it for you, its bsj playing the hero pudge and losing in 9 mins and abandoning before being throned, you want it boy send me that dragon claw hook, ill send out that sweet sweet match id baby
Hell yea, the quality of 100k++ subs production video
Was an eye opener jenkins.. Thanks alot. I'm gonna start doing it from today
1- pick heroes that make up for game needs (e.g. pushing)
2- pick heroes that scale because pub games go late and there is a lot of space on the map
3- pick heroes that fulfil the duties of that role
4-do not pick heroes that are countered by the same heroes that counter your team's hovered or picked heroes / pick opposed to your team's weaknesses
5- pick "Mario heroes" if you have to pick first and might be countered, because they will always be generally effective (tip for offlane specially)
Bonus tip from me: don't try to copy pro level strats because they might not work in you level (IM LOOKING AT YOU COLLAPSE MAGNUS SPAMMERS)
Instant like for the smirking at the screen creativity
Cinematic shots of jenkins is just on another level.
i dont think i deserve this production quality jenkins
i remember before the immortal rank, Divine was the highest and i was ~3000 leaderboard with a 5.8k mmr (eu server)
i quit at the time, and came back to the game recently, calibrated Archon 2, somewhere around 2.5k mmr.
followed your instructive videos on how this game should actually be played, meta, etc. and now im 5.3k and climbing even further thanks to you (Y)
Hope to see more videos like those ones in the next patch (which is soon to come before the next TI)
Cheers!
U lost 3.3k mmr after u came back?
I was waiting on some kind of elaborated prank or plot twist due to all those creative camera angles. Mr Jenkins sir, you're a devilish teaser.
One of your best videos so far.
So essentially as support based on this video and Experience.
Make sure you pick a hero that able to do multiple things,
Essentially heroes like Shaman or Jakiro is a good example here.
"no one excited about mario in smash bros"
>mario casually chillaxing in many top tiers in tier lists
Great content, great production quality. You make Brian Slam Jamma look bad
A really great one!
Thanks for the video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I am so sick of some absurd pickers, going dazzle oracle in crusader... jesus dude we crusader, just pick warlock or shadow shaman
That production value. More B-roll closeups of your face please
Great video, would you share your thoughts on what you consider to be those types of heroes for each role outside of SS?
I needed to hear this because I tend to play like those sacrificial pros who are called by the casters/analysts as Pos 6s
I don't know why, but this video quality superb. Love your videos!
I like how everyone's so focusing on Jenkins' face rather the content he's talking abt LOL Good stuff btw!
Love the new editing!
Good tips Jenkins, thanks!
Nice advice
if you want to win pubs, no matter the patch, you can just just pick nature prophet, antimage, or any other pusher+escape hero, rush travel boots, then linken's and go full on ratdota
other examples are dark seer, hoodwink, invoker, monkey king, phantom lancer, slark, queen of pain, meepo, and underlord
What the hell is this? Jenkins is evolving and is investing in more cinematic video shots for a dota2 video?
PogCrazy
Thanks. This is exactly what I have been thinking lately.
This video is better because I can see more of Jen.
So true sir, I've been playing lion and winter as pos 5 for more than 30 games and I really understand what u mean scaling heroes. Even my team going to feed i can "hold" the game for 10-15 min with lion finger's of death or keep my core alive with winter heal.
Niiiice intro!!!
you are exactly right. we watch professional games pick the heroes and fail most of the times.
5:54 the irony in this is me as a main pos 4 player actually win more and easier on pos 5 because I have the bad habit at getting extremly pissed off by my pos 5 playing like a pos 4 (especially if its a game where a carry player plays pos 5 because of role Q games) and then I play worse because it pisses me off how bad this role is getting played and on pos 5 I am more chill and I am very good at dewarding/warding so I usually just out vision the enemy most of the time and win without having farm (or getting extremly farmed with techies pos 5 because I stop splitpush with mining one lane down and switching up lanes so the enemy dont know where I am (depends also on which tower you should protect)
:D I sucks to say that but if I wanted to climb I guess I had to play pos 5 more..
The entry statement is sooo true, just seeing players in low ranks thinking they are the new topson or the new yapzor etc picking mk pos 4 going 0-7 in the first 5 mins or pos 4 wr and still going for mid items
