- Part of an unsuccessful quarter peal of Grandsire Triples at Norton, on Wednesday 20th March 2024.
This quarter peal attempt was the last time the bells were rung before being removed for restoration by Whites of Appleton.
The bells will be retuned and hung with new fittings in the existing frame.
Norton, 8 Bells. Tenor: 10-3-14, in F#. dove.cccbr.org...
For some of it so couldn’t tell if it was the treble or the 2nd ringing!
Their partials are very close together 😂
Finally the bells are getting retuned
In fairness, they come out worse over video than I remembered in person - although they weren't that loud inside! I've certainly rung on worse - although there's no doubt they are in dire need of tuning properly! I look forward to ringing on the 'new' bells once they're back.
PS - sorry you didn't get the quarter James, but the ringing I heard (here, and on the Norton Bells' Facebook page) sounded very tidy.
@@simonbellringer I think that it is important not all rings of bells are tuned, because that would lose a lot of the great variety between rings of bells which make each ring special. These really do sound in dire need of tuning to me.
@francescogreenslade7793 don't get me wrong, I absolutely 100% agree! Bells are an instrument, they're just not a particularly good one right now 🙃🤣 Just imagine if G&J had been contracted to cast the trebles, rather than leaving it to Bond.....
They sound...ahem. colourful?
Haha, tell me about it! They don’t sound too bad outside surprisingly, but yeah I’m glad they’re finally being retuned
@@JamesJoynson not very tuneful
The tenor is not a bad bell. I quite like them, but they definitely need retuning.
Tenor’s a gorgeous bell. Perfectly harmonically tuned by Gillett & Johnston
