As a diver the lumed bezel is not distracting, the bezel is actually the most important thing to be legible because that’s what let’s you know how long you’ve been at depth. Of course most of us wear dive computers so a mechanical dive watch is really a novelty.
Agree...being able to read the bezel is very important...but a novelty?? always have a dive watch on when I dive, as a back up incase the computer has a an issue. Essential IMHO
As much as I love my Pelagos I regret selling the Seamaster so much and it's the only watch I've set my mind on rebuying at some point. They're really different watches but both incredible in their own ways. Thankfully that means that they can easily coexist in a collection!!
@@JL-fh4qw before selling it, I had gotten a Marinemaster SLA021 and I absolutely LOVED it and it was my most worn watch of the year and the SM300 wasn't worn very much as a result (but I still loved it). So I had to take a hard look at my collection and I couldn't quite justify having a dive watch as expensive as the SM300 just sitting around considering I was wearing the roughly equivalent MM300 and the Pelagos much more. But over the last 1.5 years I've really been missing the SM300 bc of the dial/indices and the way it wears so I'm determined to rebuy it at some point!!
@@thewatchidiot I definitely agree that if funds allow there is room for the Pelagos and the SM 300M. The Great White would be my colour preference for the Seamaster.

It's always nice to save a good chunk of money😂
Just picked up the pelagos 2 days ago. It’s so understated I love it. And the bracelet is incredible. So much more comfortable. I love it because I can wear it in every setting and it’s not too flashy
Yea initially i had that thought and after owning and wearing it for just 1 month the flatness of the color, the thickness of the case and the sharp underside of the deployant clasp that digs in my wrist i had it sold off and get a SMP white and couldn;t be happier
@@Klose_11 what you have like 10cm thick arm or something? You describe the Pelagos like the most daunting thing ever. Maybe you never owned a Pelagos and you're just are full of s*it.
Tudor - Pure tool watch taken to the most functionally elegant extreme; Omega - Great value for the money, versatility in a wide range of wrist situations. Things I don't like that somewhat ruin the Omega for me - the "wart" at 10 and the non-tapering bracelet.
Literally made this choice on the day this video came out, before I saw it. Went Pelagos, I want something that I won't baby, and the Omega is too shiny not to baby.
The Tudor is a titanium tool watch. The omega gives me a sportier more “sport” casual feel. The omega would be at home on a golf course or ooto meeting. The Tudor is what you’d want on a job site
This is great video, thank you for making the comparison. I was weighing between these two watches for my next purchase. I currently own a Planet Ocean 2500, so I opted for the Blue Pelagos.
I picked Pelagos for overall simpler aesthetics, not into Omega's curves or polished elements. Movement wise I suspect Omega's masterchronometer is a superior movement, decorated and finished to another level. But with that said I do love how Pelagos's back is shut, there is a subtle material drama, and I love the overall "metalness" and "toolness"of Pelagos.
The Tudor Pelagos would be my choice, well I'll took the lefty version for the nice colour touch and the fact that I found the crown more comfortable in the other side, specially on big watches. The Pelagos is modern and timeless, the watch for one life.
style over substance! tudor for pros, seamaster for pose! I'm a tech diver and the fully lumed bezel is way way easier to read than just a small pip - - not that any of us use purely a watch for timing deco or bottom time....we all use computers. For diving tho..... i sold a seamaster as it "wasn't very good when diving dark British waters!" (scalloped bezel nightmare to turn, skeleton hands poor to read in low vis) - the Pelagos is a different class under water...... my conclusion - Pelagos for divers, Seamaster for sales meetings and spreadsheets!!!!
Do you really feel that the lume lasts long enough to be useful when diving? I get 20 minutes max when driving home in a dark car. Can’t imagine counting on it in dark waters.
@@joes9545 yes. When night diving or deep diving we use strong torches anyway. A decent blast and the lune should last approx 15-20mins which is usually enough to check either bottom or deco times. Another quick blast if more needed. 👍
I’m lucky to own both (blue 2015 pelagos/black 2018 300m) and these watches are equally amazing. Personally I really dislike the 300m bracelet and love the Tudor so no comparison there. I removed the 300m bracelet immediately and put on the OEM rubber which really helps the fit. Outside the bracelet and bezel action the Omega wins all around for me. The Tudor feels like a beater (in a take me anywhere amazing way) where the 300m really doesn’t. One watch- Omega, but you’re not making any concessions if choosing one of the two.
Im a sports watch kind of guy and i've had Seiko's Tuna as my dailly beater until i can afford luxury. These 2 here are literally the only 2 watches you need in an active lifestyle at this price point right? Such great value for money. Pelagos just a beast as a do everything/everywhere watch and Omega has everything Pelagos has, but has that versatility.
The Tudor is amazing and simple, The Omega is more of a dressier piece to be honest, it has it's advantages, but a matte blue disk along with a matte bezel is hard to beat, the omega is also great, they are as equally great, so I'd either pick either one, but first comes to Tudor.
Am very much about to pull the trigger on the Sm300 - I have a 2 liner Pelagos it's about 1mm thinner than the in-house and has a cleaner dial - A real sweetspot in how it wears! The Tudor's clasp is the best in the business! Thanks for the review Rob
I had a Seamaster ... it was so shiny. I couldn't handle it. Almost every surface is highly reflective. On the black dial the polished hands got lost super easy. Sold it after a month. Something to be aware of if you're attracted to this model.
Tough choice. I would pick Pelagos because of its usability. I like Seamaster Professional too. The no tapering of the bracelet and also its shine don't make it suitable for everyday use. In addition, Tudor builds these watches for combats/field and its end users are people serving in army etc. But the Omega build their watches for average citizens. So, they don't have durability and useability in mind.
I love the Tudor on UA-cam and in pics. I tried one on a few months ago and didn’t like it all on the wrist. I tried on the Omega that same day and loved it. I don’t like the “wart” either but when I had it on my wrist it didn’t bother me at all. Long story short, you never know until you try it on.
Hello Rob, one of these two watches will be my grail diver. Off the wrist the Omega is o er the top but when on the wrist the Pelagos has so much presence.......
Pelagos 100%, wart free watches for me. Don't care for the Omega bezel and hands. And it's cheaper. I could care less about display casebacks, as I wear my watches.
Never have been a fan of Tudor but I love this Pelagos. If I didn’t have my Superocean II, I would get this Pelagos. The wart on this Omega, I could never get past. Plus I like a lot of lume on the hands which the Omega does not do. I have the same Aqua Terra you have and that bothers me there too, but not as critical to me as it a dressier watch.
I have both and like them both. The Blue Pelagos I really like for a no nonsense, understated tool watch. It doesn’t draw a lot of attention, is very comfortable, and it has been dead on timing wise in the last 71 days, which is utterly spectacular accuracy. The Seamaster dresses up much better, definitely gets more attention if you are looking for it, and the movement is great and on full display. Comfort goes to the Tudor all day. Since both watches are so different to me in all but price They certainly don’t feel redundant to me.
If you want the attention SMP is definitely the way to go. If you are fan of utilitarian, industrial and brutalist design - the machined look of the Pelagos will capture your heart. I chose the Pelagos and couldn't be happier after I was surprised by the overwhelming shine of the Omega. This thing is like a piece of jewel on your hand... I had a hard time taking it serious.
Love both of them. However as a diver I'd much prefer to have the Tudor lume, but to be honest the watch dive bezel in these days of dive computers are is very much a backup which you'll rarely use.

I have the blue Pelagos and black diver 300 in my collection and was shocked at how many responses were for selling the Pelagos. I love the Pelagos and consider it my 'luxury beater' along side my SKX009.
I am a scuba diver. Mechanical diver watches are pretty useless. If you really need a backup device, just wear a second dive computer. But I dove with some of my diver watches just because of the memory building. As for the lume, again they are not necessary, but Tudor's full lume looks really sexy!
Huge fan of both. Got a black wave SMP 300 and just waiting to pull trigger on a Pelagos once ibnarrow a color. Leaning towards blue, but LHD still creeping in when I see it.
Great video...I love both watches, but partial to Omegas....The only negative to me on the Pelagos is the clasp with all the markings, and that exposed cut out....I prefer the hidden micro-adjust on the Omega.....The Seamaster No Time To Die version has a lume bezel.....perhaps it will make its way into other models at some point. My only knock on the new Seamaster is I wish it had a taper to the bracelet.
I went for the Pelagos LHD and the Aqua Terra greyish blue. The Pelagos bracelet/clasp is the best I've seen, by far. The SMP 300 is a very nice watch indeed. Great video.
Omega all day long, I love mine, decided to go with blue. I believe it’s a classic. Ideally I’d like to have both blue and white, that would be a bit of overkill though lol
Omega for me easily. It looks and feels like a high end watch. Pelagos is just a tool diver and if you really want a tool diver, there's tons of Seiko (incl the Tuna) that can fill that gap. And again, for real divers, mechanical watches are just a novelty. Your dive meter is 2nd to none. I'm in the middle of my PADI certification and while I wear my PO sometimes, it's far from a necessity.
Awesome video and review. In regards to the Illumination of both watches, the Tudor has it. However, as a diver for over 25 years, doing night dives on ship wrecks, dives in caves and caverns, in complete darkness, light is important. We run high power lights and redundant everything, especially lights. Scuba outside of the advanced open water and deep dives becomes more technical. So the bottom times set on my dive watch for no-decompression becomes a mute point anyway since they are typically exceeded outside of recreational limits. Lights will help us illuminate the watch anyway and the computers are typically what I go on. But yes, I still always dive with a dive watch. My two go to dive watches are my Citizen Promaster and the Omega Seamaster 300.
Interesting comment. Thank you for this. I often wondered if lume was a moot point for diving because it usually does not last very long. Curious why you even wear a mechanical dive watch. For back up or just for fun?
@@joes9545 I still like the dive watch as a redundant back up. I know, very few diver actually wear a dive watch underwater since computers are the mainstay. When I got certified in 1994, a dive watch was a necessity. Computers were not common place yet.
One watch is a modern icon that looks a million dollars on the wrist with a time date movement better than just about all others. The other is a Tudor pelagos...
I actually bought my Omega SeaMaster (great white) on bracelet a month ago and my boutique dealer tossed in the rubber strap at no additional cost because he knew I really wanted it.
Nice comparison Rob. I have the older SMP 2531.80. I have no desire to pick up either of these. My purchases now need to be limited to $500 or less. Even then, I think long and hard about it. Retirement changes spending patterns. I have some really cool watches i plan on keeping forever. I just don’t need more similar watches at this point.
Both are amazing but that Omega Seamaster is just so versatile as a dive/dress watch! I was in a dilemma between these watches as well. I ended up getting the Omega Seamaster 300m blue because I work in an office environment and needed a good looking watch! Gets plenty of compliments and a great conversation starter!
Omega has more personally and character. I also love it’s gorgeous ceramic dial and co-axial movement. And I don’t really like the christmas garland feel of Tudor’s lume. The Omega’s lume is more legible for me.
As an avid diver I prefer having only the lumed pip. I find a fully lumed bezel to be far to busy. That is definitely a personal preference however, as I have spoken with divers who prefer a lumed bezel.. more and more divers are wearing dive computers nowadays... I’m holding down the fort! There is just something about being at depths where it can be just you and your watch..
Not a knock on Omega I considered owning one many times. but the Tudor is masculine and the Omega is Feminine. For me the Omega kinda gets lost. Its got more bling but if I want sports watch bling on my wrist I wont be choosing a seamaster. As an everyday sports watch the Tudor gets my vote.
IMHO the Brand recognition and heritage of Omega is far superior. The Pelagos is an outstanding watch and the bracelet and clasp outshines Omega, but the Seamaster overall clinches it for me
Admittedly, this is vey shallow of me but I absolutely abhor the Tudor snowflake hands and square markers. Tudor could produce the undisputed best dive watch in the world but I could still never get over the look of the hands and markers. As mentioned, very shallow of me... but there you have it.
Pelagos is looking really handsomely on your wrist. Personally I like it better. I would have bought one long time ago but the case thickness puts me off. If they make it thinner I would be the first to pick one up. In blue. Had the Seamaster and sold it. Just not a fan. Cheers.
Huge fan of James Bond. I saw Goldfinger when I was 12-13 years old and I've been a fan every since. The Seamaster is the king to me. Also, very few divers are ever going to dive to 300 meters.
The Omega is too shinny for me. I like the matte look of the Pelagos. I have the Tudor GMT and Seamaster 300 Heritage. Same issue with how shinny the bezel is, but the Heritage looks better for me than the 300 driver.
As a diver for many years, I only have ever used a wrist mounted dive computer. Love my dive watches but prefer the accuracy of my dive computer. My omega can’t tell me depth, water temp, and safe time left at depth over multiple dives like the computer can.
A lumed bezel seems to be of an imense value to anyone timing events in low light scenarios. (an Omega with a lumed bezel would be my pick.. maybe that's why I love CWard's Trident C60).
Great video!! I had an Oris Cenote with a lume bezel and it was fantastic at night visually. The fact that 1% if that of divers watch owners actually dive at all makes it irrelavent as to wether it's distracting or not, but I have heard that it is not. Both beautiful and high quality pieces, however funny how The orange seiko in the background shades both of them in presence. I have a $15 gran collection of nice Swiss divers and the irony is that my $300 Helm with the sapphire lumed bezel is right up in my favourites. It's colors, wrist presence and surprising quality make it tough to beat. Strange but true.
I went with the seamaster as it's much more visually interesting and does not feel like a generic diver. Nothing wrong with generic diver mind you - I've got a Bb58 as well
I know the HEV value is divisive on the SMP300, but I reckon they should omit it. The PO should keep the HEV and be the serious dive watch in the lineup, with the SMP moving more toward dress diver. Anyway, that's how I see it. For this reason I prefer the Pelagos, however the heritage model Seamaster 300 with no HEV is certainly nice
Just give in to your desires and own them both. Life is too short to be financially responsible. I own the blue Pelagos and its been fun. Its decieving wearing it because its probably my biggest watch and it weighs about the same or is lighter than my other watches on bracelet.
@@markymark3572 thanks. I knew the Seamaster does cause I have it, but it wasn't mentioned in the video and I have never handled the Pelagos so didnt know.

And a smaller / thinner clasp
I'd go for the Tudor because of the lume, power reserve, lumed bezel, titanium and price. But I like both of them a lot
I'm still debating whether to get a Speedmaster MOTM or a Seamaster 300. The panda dial on the Seamaster is just mesmerizing to look at.
Which one holds value better I’m choosing between these 2 with black bezels
It's so rare to watch a comparison watch videos while both watches are well synch !
Both are “grail” watches 😍
Thanks for sharing.
@@nathangoode3126 Good info. Thank you for sharing!
One watch is a modern icon that looks a million dollars on the wrist with a time date movement better than just about all others. The other is a Tudor pelagos...
I bought the black seamaster in 2019...I am lusting over the blue pelagos but I just couldn't let the seamaster leave...I would miss it too much
Tudor for me. But... really like the Omega too. Tudor is a 911. Omega an Audi R8. Wouldn't say no to either!
I’m going for the Tudor, but only because I already have the same Aqua Terra as you and a Speedmaster. I need to diversify a little 😂
I got my Tudor 2 years ago.Great watch, you forgot to say that the Tudor comes with free rubber strap .More watch for the buck.
I actually bought my Omega SeaMaster (great white) on bracelet a month ago and my boutique dealer tossed in the rubber strap at no additional cost because he knew I really wanted it.
The Tudor black color reminds me of the Sinn 556 in color....stunning
I´ve chosen the Seamaster, because it is a beauty of a watch.
Ordered mine with the black face and simply love it.
Greetings from Germany.
I have the Omega PO white ceramic dial orange bezel and looking to add the Tudor LHD Pelagos... amazing watches !
Agreed. I got the same one for a job I’m
Most likely taking soon
Interesting that you didn’t compare clasps. Still a great video. Omega for me in this case. I wonder why they don’t taper the bracelet.
I own both so i'm definitely of the opinion that they can coexist in one collection. Good video! 👍
I have the blue pelagos and the white omega in my collection also.!!!!
They both have a place
I'm actually standing between those two. Thanks for great video! Just what I was looking for.
Both of I can have both, but if I had to choose one, then Tudor.
I am really struggling to pick. May come down to availability here in Melbourne Australia
IMHO the Brand recognition and heritage of Omega is far superior. The Pelagos is an outstanding watch and the bracelet and clasp outshines Omega, but the Seamaster overall clinches it for me
I think you are the james bond of watches ... Rob 😀
Admittedly, this is vey shallow of me but I absolutely abhor the Tudor snowflake hands and square markers. Tudor could produce the undisputed best dive watch in the world but I could still never get over the look of the hands and markers. As mentioned, very shallow of me... but there you have it.
I love the Omega. Just wish I could afford one (and had the wrists for one) 🤣
The bezel on that Tudor is killing me. Only off-center a little bit but still an eye magnet.
Never sell that Omega. Absolutely beautiful watch.
I think it’s cool that you’re not so aggressive about owning everything lately.
Pelagos is looking really handsomely on your wrist. Personally I like it better. I would have bought one long time ago but the case thickness puts me off. If they make it thinner I would be the first to pick one up. In blue. Had the Seamaster and sold it. Just not a fan. Cheers.
Might want to look at the Fanos Osimiri
@@slothpatronus2704 Cool watch. And will be thinner with that ETA movement.
When you go into a watch store to buy one of these. Do they give you the one in the display case or can you get a new unopened box?.
Always wondered.
I considered both if these but eventually bought a Planet Ocean.
I’m interested in 2 watches the 2022 breitling super ocean or the omega Seamaster what the best option
I had a SM300 and couldn't tell the time at night due to lack of fully lumed solid hands. Sold it. The Tudor looks great.
I will pick Tudor. I can afford it but some day I will.
Huge fan of James Bond. I saw Goldfinger when I was 12-13 years old and I've been a fan every since. The Seamaster is the king to me.
Also, very few divers are ever going to dive to 300 meters.
i still think Omega is a tier above tudor. love both, would proudly wear either.
I choose the pelagos! Availability, features, looks, comfort, bracelet, price, in house movement, just to name a few. Tudor exceeded my expectations!
Wear both. Analog and digital. Both wrist. As a backup.
@@rollncalguy I just have a second dive comp with me lol
Both beautiful watches I hav the slightly older black dial sea master 41 mm and luv it so I will say omega for me
A lumed bezel seems to be of an imense value to anyone timing events in low light scenarios. (an Omega with a lumed bezel would be my pick.. maybe that's why I love CWard's Trident C60).
What would you choose between the pelagos and the new black bay chronograph ?
Just two great watches!
Tudor Pelagos. ✨✨✨
I can't decide b/w these two. It's either the white dial Seamaster for me or the smurf blue Pelagos.
Great watchs would like the seanaaster in white but getting Tudor panda white ? black or white blue seamaster cannot have two white ones help lol
Just give in to your desires and own them both. Life is too short to be financially responsible. I own the blue Pelagos and its been fun. Its decieving wearing it because its probably my biggest watch and it weighs about the same or is lighter than my other watches on bracelet.
Does the exterior anti reflective coating scratch easily on the seamaster?
The pelagos is a very nice watch but I have buy the seamaster in black and also have the north flag in my collection, both are great for me 👍
Does the Pelagos have a toolless microadjust bracelet like the Seamaster?
It does
Yes it has an adjuster which is also spring loaded.
It does, but the Seamasters is much neater, as in a button with push on it, then you just pull the bracelet to however much you need
@@markymark3572 thanks. I knew the Seamaster does cause I have it, but it wasn't mentioned in the video and I have never handled the Pelagos so didnt know.
Personally i went with the Pelagos However a new old stock 2017 ETA MK1 .its running within cocsc and the little details i prefer and the ETA
