    I own the black Pelagos. I get a lot of compliments on it. I think it comes across as a real watch enthusiasts watch, opposed to a watch where someone is trying to show off or flex

    As a regular scuba diver, it always annoys me a bit hearing this view on the clasp Rob! That clasp is exactly what makes this the best tool dive watch on a bracelet on Earth. I always prefer bracelets, but It's pretty impractical to be switching between the rubber strap in the water and the bracelet on land as you suggest, you have enough to get sorted before and after a dive. This clasp lets you n wear it to the dive site, in the water over many layers in a dry suit, and in the pub for dinner after, without thinking twice about what strap is on and whether it fits! The hidden springs also let the watch expand and contract over my dry suit as I decend/ascend. You're hating on its best feature as a dive watch!

    Agree on the clasp - get rid of the diver extension and springs (which are too stiff and causes it to wear too tight IMO) and just give us more on-the-fly positions.

    Got both the 2 line ETA black one and a blue 5 line with the in house. Prefer the eta, just cleaner. Have to disagree on the clasp. If any watch would make use of an extension, it's a Pelagos. The perfect tool watch. Also, the toolless adjusts are superb, and the springs may be useful, and are definately a show of quality engineering in practice. Excellent watches. Glad you came to the same conclusion.

    @RichKovars 3 роки тому +1

    Re the clasp. The clasp on the Pelagos is designed for divers. As you descend your wetsuit compresses. Regular dive extensions and NATOs become loose. The Pelagos clasp keeps the watch tight to your wrist. Like the rubber straps on Seiko divers with the accordion waves near the spring bars. Same idea. Those Seiko straps you put on tight so that when your suit compresses the material bunches back up keeping the strap from coming loose. It would be good if Tudor had an option for their regular clasp but that would add a lot of manufacturing cost. I agree with you about the diagram. I could live without that for sure. It is also not true that every diver uses a rubber strap. Many use and prefer bracelets.

    Excellent watch for scuba diving. I don’t agree with your statement that divers wouldn’t take this under water on the bracelet. The clasp is really designed to use it on top of a wet suit which makes it superior to any other bracelet I’ve seen so far. The rubber strap with its extension piece is more suited for diving in cold water with a dry suit for which the bracelet may be to short.

    So, unless the point is- those additional spring loaded (clasp) features are adding up towards overall cost- one does NOT have to use them (those features). I never understood why we take time to point out what we DON’T need in an item, when GET everything else we WANT in the item. So long as those “issues-problems” do not impact your experience. Just enjoy it for what you like about it. IMHO.

    The Pelagos is arguably the best looking and best performing diver's watch on the market. Dress it up or dress it down. The rubber strap looks sharp as well.

    I come to Rob for Seiko reviews but I have been waiting for this! I have always been a dive watch guy, for 40 yrs now and this may be the best executed diver I have ever put on my wrist. Its beautiful but so understated compared to a Sub or Seamaster yet to me nicer than both and without the pretension or crazy over inflated price. I've been seriously considering selling my vintage Seamaster Chrono that I thought I could never part with to get this Tudor....

      Definitely a must buy if u are big on divers ..i was debating between the LHD or the new seamaster chrono ..chose the LHD and i love it .. Just getting tired of hearing this is just a tool watch, is that and so much more .. it's classic style and size looks amazing on the wrist ..can't stop looking at it when wearing it ..😳😂

      Actually it is a well kept secret that the date aperture is slightly off compared to gen 1. Gen 1 has an hour marker at 3 o'clock which they weirdly sacrificed because of the inhouse movement.

    The problem with first gen in-house, especially if designed from the ground up is that anyone who buys one is a beta tester. Then next gen will be the one to own. I also believe in right to repair and tudors embargo on send out parts or third party repairs is unfortunate. Not a fan of denying my local trusted watch maker business in favor of some big watch company. the butterfly bridge for the balance is nice tho.
