Just friendly advice, I would go back and add marine goop to all the holes for leak prevention from the screws and then use bolt with washer and nuts on the inside. If the anchor ever gets stuck and you have to use kayak as leverage or even just a strong current, you potentially could strip the screws.
What I'm wanting is an Anchor Wizard setup off the front of my SS127 and power pole in the rear. I'm curious how to mount the chute on the front to work properly and not hinder when using my tow handle. Any suggestions or video links ???? Awesome video. I am actually looking at buying the ss127 but have heard it doesn’t track all that great.... I have no problem putting a rudder or bonafides rubber attachments on but do you find either one of those necessary?
It doesn't track great that's for sure. The fins and the ridder were suppose to have remedied the issue. I got a set of the fins but never put them on my SS127. I mainly use this kayak for skinny river stuff now.
Just a tbought from doin a decent amount of river fishing in a kayak. I always run the anchor in the front because the fish tend to orient face first into the current. If im sitting still i want to be casting up river. This gives me the most amount of time with my bait in front of the fish.
If you run out the back you can then fish against the current helps you to fish an area more effectively. When you cast into the current it will grab your bait and it will down river before you can catch up to it.
I'm buying a nucanoe frontier kayak tomorrow.... they let me demo one. Has a swivel seat, very stable... fat boy friendly... that anchor system looks like it would work great.... thx
Was it tough to slide the anchor wizard on that gear track. I'm getting ready to do the same to mine and have been testing. The wizard t bolts are really tough sliding in and out of the track.
I hear what you're saying but I like the anchor trolley better. I like being able to position the boat in current or wind with it. I use it with an anchor or drift shute. Hope the wizard works well for you. Keep on keep'n on🤙🏻and tight lines

Then again I don't know if I would be just pissing in the wind and get it all tangled up. Have you guys ever tried anything like this or do you all have any thoughts or suggestions. If you are fishing more open water run it off the front. You also have to remember you can try it one way for a while if you don't like just switch around. So like when I get my power pole I am going to switch my anchor to the front but leave the sleeve in the back for when I fishing somewhere I can't bring my PP.

so when using a anchor wizard, you ketch a fish you can't release anchor to fight fish also if you get hung up it could cause a problem. I like the set up but ... think it could be dangerous. [just my opinion]
No you can release the anchor. That's why you place it on the side of the yak that is your non rod holding hand. Hanging up could be a issue. There's not been a situation I've found yet though that back paddling didn't fix it.
So my understanding is if your going to fish a lot of current you want your anchor to go out the back. That way it just stops you and your able to fish against the current and more efficiently fish a area. Then out the front is more for deep water (lake) fishing situation where you just want to be held in place and don't care about boat orientation. So like when I get a PP I'll run it out the front and the PP in the back.

I dont know if Gene has videos of the set up but I know Hoover does. It's really the perfect scenario for any conditions.
Me yesterday: nah, I don’t need an anchor wizard. I’ve been anchoring fine without one for years. Removed from online cart. Today: oh look a new video. Me today: well crap. I really do want one.
I’ve used the AW for over 4 yrs and I would never recommend it to anyone. I’ve had to rebuild it 6X, the spool exploded, paid for the upgraded aluminum spool and never received it or got a refund.
That's all I need it to do. I'm going to run my anchor our the front of my kayak once I have my PP. Then in situation where I can't get a PP I'll just run my anchor out the back again.

Any thoughts on running the anchor off front? I typically anchor facing up current.
I like it off the back so I can slow myself down when I’m floating down the river.
What type of screws did you use and how did you seal them?
A power pole may not replace an anchor trolly system, because a power pole will not work in deep water.
