      My chute is off the bow and I also use a 9ft anchor pole along with the wizard if I want to lock myself in place.

    Kudos to both of you for knowing it’s a “winch” and not a “wench” like most of the videos I watch! 👏🏻 👏🏻

    RVR 119, 2 Anchor Wizards, Anchor W brand Anchor off the bow roller, Drag Chain (silenced by tire tube) off the rear. I can face up or down stream @ anytime on any River/Creek run. Higher gauge chain with fewer links helps with paddle speed water resistance. The more links in the water will slow the YAK.

    I use power coated steel chain for my anchor and it's worked really well so far with my anchor wizard

    Plasti dip works well on chain for drag anchors. Coats the chain " helps prevent rusting " but really just keeps it from banging into the kayak and damaging it

    Ok-Thankyou for doing this video! I am one of the people that requested this and this really helped me visualize how it works.
    Future idea. Would love to get your opinions and Ethan’s regarding that Zman Ned Rig rod-maybe you can fish it together. It looks like an ultralight-meets medium rod that maybe would be good on the river? The two reviews I saw preferred the shorter rod.

    I have a 5 lb Boat anchor Attach to 100ft paracord every 10 feet. I have a hitch not loop with a Caribbean so I can attach to set anchor depth.

    Think I'm gonna buy the wizard with a trolley system but put a drift sock on it instead of an anchor, then use a yakattack parknpole to fully anchor if needed.

    You actually do wanna cover them cause they make a lot of noise on the bottom dragging = spooked fish but I agree they are the best option.

    Just purchased at NuCanoe F10. Looking for an anchor system to fish the Susquehanna River 20-30 miles north of Harrisburg, Pa. How durable is this anchoring system? The Susquehanna has a very rocky bottom. A claw type of anchor can get caught underneath a rock and makes it hard to retrieve. What type of anchor would you suggest and how much weight for a river at 3.5-4.2 feet deep? Thank you for your time and expertise.

    You mentioned possibly putting a pulley on side of kayak; any concern about weight of anchor damaging kayak or pulling pulley out? You’d definitely want the reinforced pulley!

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  8 місяців тому

      A pulley with brass inserts will be totally fine. Used them for years. A lot of kayaks these days are set up for them.

    You say you rarely find yourself anchoring off the bow of the kayak, is that also the case when fishing lakes? I like the setup you have on the Shoalie and I'm thinking of going with a similar setup but I mainly fish inland lakes.

    Hey so I have fallen in love with kayak fishing, just using a regular old pelican mission 100 so I took that back and got a Pelican Sentinel 100X Angler Fishing Kayak from costco. I have an anchor wizard coming in and trying to decide if I want to mount it bow or stern. Ill mainly be fishing rivers, maybe take it out onto some smaller lakes (live in ontario). On the rivers I find myself usually liking to go up river so when I am ready to go I have the current to help me get back instead of fighting it when I am tired. I usually like to fish my ned rig so I pull up to a spot I like and sit for 5 mins working all around me and move up river. What would work best for me? Also do you recommend chains or I was thinking one of those cannonball weights used for down rigging. My local rivers can be rock, sand, weedy bottoms.

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  Місяць тому

      If you want to fish going up river, bowmount a chain anchor. Or if you want to sprint up river and just fish down, stern mount chains. Chains are the best river anchor in our opinion.

    • @aaanglers

    What chain gauge did you use for the 1lbs and 1/2lbs drag anchor?

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  6 місяців тому

      I always forget, but you really just need to know the weight of each length of chain. We usually use 1 lb and 1/2 lb lengths that we can combine.

  • @TWC6724
    @TWC6724 4 місяці тому

    What if the chain gets caught and you can’t reel it up? Do you just cut your line?

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  4 місяці тому

      You can cut the line, but we have never had it get stuck. Been running it in rivers for years

  • @joelelias2556
    @joelelias2556 8 місяців тому

    Won’t the chains add unwanted noise?

    • @aaanglers
      @aaanglers  8 місяців тому

      No more than rocks and debris tumbling in the current. It hasn't prevented us from catching fish. But by all means you could wrap your chains in rubber or dip them.
