Back in the 70’s I spent Christmas in Dublin. I went with my room mate to a concert at he Tailor’s Guildhall. We missed the last bus.My friend left for her mother’s and I walk down home alone. It as snowing. At midnight the bells started tolling. I was never so homesick nor so glad to be n Dublin. I still miss her.

Am I right here? …. Oh well, anyway, as you are singing so cheerfully of silver bells… an experience pops up in my consciousness. My friends and I heard recently at Bellarmine about an Irish tradition. In the past the Irish would tie a string on the deceased’s hand, which then was led through the grave and was fastened to a bell above the grave. And every so often someone afar may listen for bell ringing from the graveyard. That was very thoughtful of the Irish -- don’t you think -- because what’s worse than to be buried alive, having all that unwanted stuff on-top and being boxed in. Also I find it interesting that many a wakes resulted into a wedding. Amen, hallelujah - these folks surely had a sense of humor, mon ami. Another reason to be saved by a fast bell!
im irish and i love this song!!! You guys deserve soo much more respect than you have on here! I dont know how much respect you have in real life though?

That's grand! If you do a little video of the children singing, send it to us and we may use it at Christmas time.
