One of the last recordings I have of my late wife was Christmas Eve 2019, this song was playing on tv and my wife’s voice called out to our daughter from our bedroom to tell her she had a present for her. Not just a Christmas song to me, it’s something I listen to almost every day and love it. Love to everyone that has an empty place in their hearts this Christmas.

This was on the radio the last time I saw my father alive. Christmas...It was night time, and snowing hard. A street lamp lit up his car warming up. Something told me to hug him twice before we headed home that night. He died three weeks later. I always have to pull over when driving late November .....when it comes into rotation on the airwaves- Can't see thru my tears to drive. This happened twenty years ago , but still hits me hard every year. Yet, I love this song. It is Beautiful. Strange how a song can mean one thing to one person, and something polar opposite for another.

My family and I lost our Dad 10 years ago October 11th. If that weren't enough, 1 year and 4 months later my younger brother passed away.
My Mom is still doing well at 81 years old.
Though it's going to be as an arrow piercing my heart when she goes home with the Lord. I'm so not looking forward to that

This was my wife's and my favorite carol. We saw the TSO's Christmas concert three years in a row. Well...she passed this year, but I still have our memories but can't make it through this without crying. I miss her.

My hope and prayer is that she knew, and you know, the God in Heaven, that created each of us, && His Son, Jesus Christ, who was & is, the promised Messiah and Savior of mankind. If you don’t, just ask him to reveal himself, and then find a good Bible believing church. Meanwhile, hang in there, find others who have lost their spouse ( empathetic friends ), and don’t ignore your grief. Crying is Gods gift to us, allowing us to process out our grief, pain, and loss. Please forgive me for this long reply! I just deeply understand your pain. Music is also a gift. Absorb the beauty of it deeply. And I will pray that you will still have a Merry Christmas!

My Father played Pachelbel's Cannon on his trumpet for my wedding march. He's been gone now for almost twenty years, but whenever I hear this song, I think of him smiling in his white tux, trumpet in hand. Love you and miss you Dad.
My mother would spend Christmas with me and whenever we would drive around I would have the radio on. She loved this Christmas version of Pachebel's Canon. She passed away in 2017. I cry every time I hear this. I miss her so much.

It's hard to move on, but, we must for they would not wan t us do that. Best we can do, is never forget them and try to love someone as much as we loved them. I know it's hard, I have done so myself. Yes, it's quite a beautiful song, but the point I was trying to make is despite the beauty, it's EXCRUCIATING for cello players. They get none of the fun in the song, just a pattern of quarter notes.

Mine, too. I first heard this song Christmas morning 1998 as I was celebrating the holiday with my family. My Mother had passed away earlier that year. She loved Christmas. It just has not been the same since without her or my Dad.
Christina Maria me too! My mom passed just before Christmas and was laid to rest on Christmas Eve. I think of her when I hear this and imagine the Angels were singing to her as she entered heaven. Such a peaceful feeling. It brings me tears every time.

Such a Beautiful Song. The inventor of the Trans Siberian orchestra just passed away recently. He was in his sixties. These are his angels singing to him in heaven.
Whenever I leave this world, these are the Angelic voices I imagine hearing as I cross over into the light of eternity.
I also believe when we walk through the gates of heaven we should hear Pachelbels canon , loved it since I was a little boy who at the time had no interest in classical music and still to this day can move me to tears .This arrangement is absolutely stunning.

Because the words mess it up. They ruined the original Canon. I don't even care if adults were singing it. It doesn't need words. That's why I consider this song one of my least favorite Christmas Songs (behind, "The Chipmunk Song").

For those who were wondering, who the two people in the audience were, let me explain:
The young girl ran away from her home just before Christmas when the older guy found her and showed her this TSO show. His intentions were to show her the meaning of Christmas. At the end of the concert, she realized the meaning, and went home on Christmas day. This story, and several TSO music videos (including this one,) were on a Christmas TV special called The Ghosts of Christmas Eve several years back. Me and my siblings watch it twice every year.
You can buy it on DVD. In addition to TSO, it has the likes of Jewel and Michael Crawford (who’s take on “O Holy Night” is amazing)
