Nice, and inspiring, to see you enjoying time in the field so much Josh, living your "Have fun and happy shooting" tag line. Great shots, start to finish, but especially the last one at 10:34. Thanks as always.
What a gorgeous place!! I'll have to visit there sometime. The textures in those rocks were fantastic. That meandering stream in the foreground at 2:07 was perfect. Love that advice about the foreground.
Wonderful shots and you’re so right about bringing those rocks into the forefront of the images...I really did feel as though I was with you in that moment. Well done!
thanks heaps josh for providing such good content to us.very much appreciated in this video you pointed out an trap which many especially younger photographers fall into...getting THE shot at a certain location without looking to add a own personal touch to it.many spots here in switzerland get photographed over and over again from the same viewing point without even considering changing it since this or that famous guy got a gazillion likes since internet fame became a thing...hope this changes over the course of the next few years tho but thanks for making me feel less stupid staying away from this trap cheers from switzerland
Well this was both beautiful and tough to watch at the same time. So wish I could have made it happen to join you on this one. We will for sure make it happen next season!
Great video. Your images are excellent. Where did you focus to get complete front to back focus on the rock in the foreground and the mountain and reflection in the background? I wish I could do this better. I have trouble getting everything in focus front to back. It's frustrating.
Thanks very much! Yes, this is one of the most common problems in landscape photography. Typically I focus about 1/3 up from the bottom of the frame, but that varies depending on how close I am to the f/g. I usually try to shoot around f/8 or f/11 but may stop down to f/16 or even focus stack if I am really close to the f/g. One other thing that's very helpful is using live view to ensure everything is sharp.
Josh, great photos of a fantastic place. I'd love to see the lens and exposure details for your featured photos. Are you using your Nikon mirrorless mostly? With the 14-24mm lens or something else? Thanks!
The foreground rock tip - so true! HUGE difference!
Booyah!
Now you've infected my mind with a better way to compose on my next Sierras hike in July. Thank you!
Great captures...beautiful area. Than you Joshua.
Thank you too!
Even when I feel like I'm in a photography rut, you always inspire me to keep getting out there and explore this awesome land!! Thank You!!
My pleasure! Thanks for the encouragement to keep making videos like this.

Cheers, Lee. Really appreciate that.
Have you ever been fixated on shooting a certain photo? Were you able to break out of that trap?
What a beautiful location!!! These tips are great and I love your photos!
Thanks so much! 😊

Killer! Never thought about skiing there; that must be stunning.
Good stuff!!
Yeah, well. You did the best you could with what you had to work with.

Cheers, Michael. It's such an easy trap to fall into. And so satisfying when you find your own path, eh?

We have to do it, man! So bummed you couldn't make this one.
