Phenomenal pics Josh! My fave is actually the Alabama Hills shot. Mountain and man -- perspective. Gorgeous light and great composition. And congrats on the Nat Geo tag!
Great photos! Wow! Congratulations on Nat Geo.... also loved all back stories.... we enjoyed a visit to Kings Canyon, it’s a hidden gem....would love to go back. Happy 2021 🎉🎉
Incredible images. The first image was only 1 of the 3 by him that made it to the Nat Geo article (so 3 of 5 images in the article were by him). My favorite was his favorite, but that is a really special image that required a real vision of what he wanted to accomplish with very specific criteria plus remarkable technical knowledge and a bit of luck to have the weather cooperate.
Its very inspiring to see your enthusiasm when you tell us the challenges you've got to struggle with to, finally, have your designed/desired shot done. Keep up with this in the next year to offer us such great work. Happy 2021!!!
Man is that Bristlecone photo epic! I also took a serendipitous trip in my "backyard" in September, backpacking in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and oh boy are the Sierras a magical place!
CONGRATULATIONS on Nature Photographer of the Year Runner Up for your image of Stirling (?sp) Falls, New Zealand. Great images from this year. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing such a great list, the stories behind them all, and the excitment! Happy New Year and look forward to your positive and informative videos next year.
All great shots, Josh! The Bristlecone pine and moonrise was amazing, and I liked how the setting sun warmed up the tufa on the right side of the image at Mono Lake to balance with the warm clouds on the left side of the lake. I just wish I had a backyard like yours and the physical ability/confidence to get to some of the places you've been to. All the best in 2021!
Really great images, Josh!! I also love the way you communicate the joy, excitement and emotion you experienced when actually taking those photos!! It's a great inspiration! ;)
What I really love about this is how photographers think differently. Average people: perfect blue sky! Score! Photographers: weather was boring yesterday. Average people: oh no! Thunderstorms are building! Photographers: uuhhj!! Electric potential for super interesting clouds! Also average People: give me 5 mins tops so I can shoot some snaps. Photographers: walked around for another couple of hours before our hike so I could get some random shots in. Congratulations on your national geographic credit :) how did you come by this? Do you send the photos in? Or do you Upload them to a stock photo service and national geographic used them from there? Would be very interested in hearing more about that particular experience if you don’t mind sharing please :) Hope that 2021 will be that successful for you again.
Joshua two days ago my son experienced for the first time seeing the moon go through the Belt of Venus. He called all excited to make sure that I would capture the show.
“Squanchin around”. What a perfect way to describe it. Now I kinda know what it was like for you! Awesome images Joshua! Stunners! May I ask, did you focus on the bristlecone and then use a super small aperture like f/16-f/22 to get the details of the moon? I often wonder about these kinds of shots with a foreground and the moon!
I’m new to photography and I loved this! Though for the next time can you put like the settings of the photos? For example the ISO, the exposure (sorry I’m new) ❤️
Amazing photos! You should consider a trip to the Northern Areas of Pakistan as well. Check out the page travelbeautifulpakistan on Instagram to check what kind of landscapes can you get and see if it would be of interest.

I'll second that request about how the National Geo entry came about.
You have covered so much. I think I would like to learn more about finding compositions.

Joshua Happy New Year 2021
Happy New Year!
Your work reminds me so much of Galen Rowell, and he was such an important mentor for me and so many photographers. Great work-keep it up!
Wow, thank you!

Oh yeah, 2020 was your return to UA-cam. That feels like three years ago. Glad we don’t have to wonder what ever happened to that Cripps guy any more.
Haha totally. I'm back and here to stay. Thanks for watching Jordan!
I liked your description of planning the Bristlecone shot. Thanks, Joshua! By the way, what focal length was that taken at?
Where have you been, mate?
