Just to be clear- if you want to find your natural sounding voice you need to really master both steps, and the 2nd one is possibly even more important.
1:26 - Step 1. Focus on how you sing consonants & vowels
6:54 - Step 2. Reduce the vocal tension of the vowels you are trying to sing

Yeah I mean the fact that they are from Wales and sing in an American accent just shows how do-able it really is to change your accent when singing and still sound good

So I’m from northern England, I have a broad Yorkshire accent. I’ve been working on a couple of covers from the southern English singer, Passenger. Although I’m well aware the southern accent is definitely more of a correct way of speaking, I’ve been purposely trying not to imitate his accent, and making it sound more Yorkshire (early Arctic Monkeys, before he too opted for a more American accent) but it just sounds wrong and throws resonance placements etc way off. I think I’m going to take your advice on board and aim for a more natural accent while singing

Hey, dude. Thanks a lot. Do you give private lessons? I have so many issues: bass voice with awefull highs,russian accent and mediocre ear for pitches. But it happened so that songwrting in English is my passion. Would love to find a teacher who can deal w my specific issues. Most of all wanna get rid of the singing accent.
