There is no excuse for domestic violence anywhere to anyone. As a Russian kid growing up in a Russian family it hurts everyone and helps no one, when I got hit it scarred me for life and made my parents feel bad. My mother being hit by my father is making me scarred and her traumatized and hurt. It doesn't help anyone. Russian families are all like this, I can confirm that 100% every family has experienced violence. The father of the family is always the biggest and most powerful in the family and their wives are suffering from it. It's just not a way to live like that, with pain in silence. But it's hard to change that, nearly impossible, when a whole country works that way and even supports it.

@Ronald Nygma How about YOU stop defending abuse. Stabbing your husband with a knife is abuse no matter what and she could have killed him. Slapping is nothing, it's done to correct women if they're acting in a disgraceful manner and being disrespectful in the family. If a woman gets slapped, she'll be fine in around five minutes, so it's not even a brutal consequence.

Someone help this woman, please! At 0'44''. Abhorring! If a woman doesn't defend herself, then the whole thing, it's her fault! If a woman defends herself, then it is her fault too, and it is her who gets accused of violence! Abhorring!
It's not explained for sure if the man used to do that as a way of life, but most probably yes, and it was not an incident. If it was an incident of a couple having a fight, she would not have taken a knife.
Nothing more abhorring then a life of having been subject to real serious abuse, and be a decent person, and then oneself to be the persecuted one.

I don't say that the other women don't need help too.
(This comment is apart from commenting the change of that law. I still have to understand the reasons of that.)
Moreover, in the other countries with the current laws against abuse, unfortunately, thousands and millions of abused women and children - and sometimes man too - can't find support enough, neither measures to defend them, in the practice of things.
Just to give one example, when I needed to escape my home, I had no where to go! The only place I could go to was an expensive impossible to pay Hotel! Because I even discovered that there was a law - IMAGINE! - there is a law that one can't stay in a Hostel (a not as expensive Hotel) in the same city of residence! Bu in an expensive Hotel, yes, then you can stay in the own city. I guess that that law exists for some well intended reason, but the fact is that one doesn't even have where to go!!!
So let's not judge so easily and patronize, because it is a wonder how so much injustice and violence is still possible in all the countries.

It's ridiculous how everything gets called domestic violence nowadays. Imagine how your grandparents or great-grandparents generation would react to being told spanking a child or slapping an out of control wife is 'abuse'. They'd laugh at how ridiculous it sounded. You devalue real abuse by confusing it with nothing more than physical discipline.
It's important for a well-functioning home to have ground rules and a sense of male leadership. It's how it worked for thousands of years, and it's still the best way now.

When you spank your child because you are mad it is abuse. When you spank your child because you are responsible enough to discipline because you love them it's not abuse. I spanked my children's diapers which made it so I never had to spank their behinds.I have been blessed with wonderful children who have grown up to be polite and respectable young adults. This was not achieved by disabling this was achieved with lots of love and understanding. None of them have children yet so I have yet to see how they will do with there own children. Domestic abuse constitutes both hitting your child as well as a woman. It has been proven by psychologists much more qualified than whoever you are that abuse such as this doesn't work in disciplining anybody. Hitting anyone is just plain inhumane, cruel and torturous. It is highly insensitive to state what you have stated in the comment section of this video that deals with the clearly increased domestic abuse rate in Russia who has decriminalized it
