The truth is that 'music videos' have been made for a very long time (Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison has a non-performance based video made in 1958), but the video for Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975 was considered pretty much the first to be used to commercially sell the record. As it was such a huge success (9 weeks at UK no.1 spot) it is remembered as 'the first' and made such an impact that other artists and bands began making videos and almost ten years after Bo Rhap, MTV was created.
@@grandtheftmanualv945 Pretty Woman is from 1964. But yes, there were a few, not many, music videos made before Bohemian Rhapsody. However this video took the art of music video making to a new level.
That is rock opera at it's finest. This was unconventional both musically and visually in 1975. It blew my 14 year old mind when I heard it the first time.
I remember the first time I heard this on the radio when I was a teenager. It filled my head in so many ways. All of my friends in school that day could not talk about anything else. They won our hearts from that day on. Please continue with your song voyage and always keep that open minded swagger young man. Be safe my friend. From Pennsylvania to you. God Bless.
You know what I'd love to see - a double reaction. First, "Somebody to Love" by Queen studio version and then the live version from Montreal 1971. Please say you will! And yes, there are harmonies.
After you get your head around what you just experienced, the first ever rock opera, think about this. All of that came from the mind of Freddy Mercury, the composer, singer-opera style and rock, harmony section, piano player, and costume designer. All of these guys finished their uni degrees and have serious jobs too, the lead guitarist, Brian May, made his guitar from scratch, with help from his dad.

On anyone's first hearing, this was not their genre, because this didn't exist until this song. Usually estimated as the No. 1 best song ever - for more than 40 years.
It always blows my mind when someone says they are hearing it for the first time. This song is nearly 50 years old. Yup, I'm an old lady. Bohemia is ' the westernmost and largest historical region of the Czech lands in the present-day Czech Republic'. (Thank you Wiki) Don't know if Freddie picked it for a personal reason, or just because he liked how it sounded. Still one of my top 5 of all time. ~ Mrs H
Bohemian has more then one meaning, a "Bohemian" is an artists, someone who does not follow the usual rules of society, like a hippy for example. A Rhapsody is an epic tale or story or poem about someone's life. Or is is movement in classical music. The title actually says that it is the life story or tale about an artist. But I think Freddie is referring more to an entertainer in this case.
This song is the most listened to of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love them as much as the greatest group of all time The Beatle next song to react to is s...you must watch this song live in Montreal 5 years later ...FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Queen is my fav band since I first discovered them about 35 years ago. Queen is it's own genre! ^^+gg I don't know what genre you prefer, but Queen will deliver it at its best. You are more into hip hop for example? Check out "Queen feat. Wycleaf Jean" or "Under Pressure" < that's where Vanilla Ice stole his "Ice, Ice Baby"-tune from! Yes, he got sued for that! But they did Blues, Pop, Rock, Disco, Hymns, Metal, Classic mostly combinend ... and Freddie Solo did even an opera! A lot to discover left! :-)

Fun Facts - Queen is one of the best selling artists of all time. Each member of Queen are in the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame & Rock n Roll Hall of Fame on their own merits. Each member have written top hits & no other band can make that claim. Bohemian Rhapsody was certified Platinum sales status by the RIAA for the most streamed song in the 20th Century. Also, the first pre1990s song to reach over a billion views. This masterpiece was written by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano) who is still considered the best vocalist in the world. Just Google it. Other band members are Brian May, Roger Taylor, & John Deacon. 👑
'What's wrong with you, I don't know' Brilliant !. I enjoyed your interpretation of the song, keep in mind that it's a Rhapsody, a musical piece without repeating parts. And I have heard that it's Freddy's coming out song
Bismillah= In the name of God (Arabic) Listen to the song a few times and maybe you will enjoy it a little more. All of them a extraordinary musicians! They all wrote hits for the band and they still perform (w/Adam Lambert standing in for the late Freddy Mercury). The guitarist is Brian May. He later completed his doctorate in astrophysics and is well respected in that field! Freddy (lead singer) unfortunately died young of AIDs. You need to watch them perform at the Live Aid concert in 1985... they stole the show! It really shows what an amazing presence Freddy was on stage!
Adorable reaction LOL. There was a movie back in (2018-2019?) that won OSCARS, including best actor for Remi Malek for. best actor, called BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY! Go watch it!!!!! You will love the story and the music is beyond amazing. It is timeless and they are brilliant. They still do shows, even though the lead singer died in 91, but Adam Lambert fills leads now and he rocks it.
If you’re in the car with someone and they don’t sing along to this or at the very least have their head going kick them out immediately you don’t need that type of negativity in your life! Queen is best! Freddie Mercury was just out of this world so loved ♥️
Good for you! I have been a Queen since I first heard them in the 70’s. Even so, I don’t expect everyone to love them. But I am baffled by your reaction cuz even tho you had a lot of facial expressions while you were listening to it, you didn’t have anything of substance to say about it, all in all, except that it wasn’t your genre of music. You had to have known that going in; otherwise you probably would have heard Bohemian Rhapsody before…. considering it’s been out for 45+ years now and literally billions of people have heard it. Not being overly impressed by either Freddie’s voice or the song itself puts you in in a comparatively small club, but respect to you for giving an honest reaction! It might be worth your time to listen to more Queen music. You’d find that you actually are familiar with some Queen songs (even tho you don’t realize it) and that there is a lot more to Queen than what you hear in Bohemian Rhapsody. I don’t know what your genre of music is, but whatever it is, if it’s one that became popular from 1980 forward, then Queen and other music performers of that high caliber and with that huge of an influence on the art world actually paved the way and made room for your music genre to exist.
Little fun fact I learned today. Y’all may know already. Meaning of couple words in Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Portion of song, We will not let you go: Opera portion, if you will. "Bismillah" is one of these and it literally means "In the name of Allah." The word "Scaramouch" means "A stock character that appears as a boastful coward." “Fandango, a popular dance. Almost clown dance. "Beelzebub" is one of the many names given to The Devil. Genius. Pure genius.
A Rhapsody is a collection of connected but different musical themes. Bohemian in this context indicated something a little unconventional. Sums up the song very well
Bissmilah is Arabic for In the name of God muslims translate it as in the name Of Allah Allah is arabic for God but Muslim say Allah as the name of their God

Please react to Pentatonix cover of this masterpiece, I promise you’ll appreciate what they did with no instruments (of course). There are two brilliant versions if Bohemian Rhapsody: Queen & Pentatonix
Got to read between the lines. Freddie didn't literally kill a man, he killed his own prior heterosexual persona, and decided to branch out into bisexual. He himself said the song is about relationships; yes, his own relationships, and the operatic section deals with his fears of being judged for this. Also, Bohemian Rhapsody is not so much a song as it is a miniature vocal suite. Read the Wikipedia article for the references in the operatic section (sounds closer to Gilbert and Sullivan than it does to grand opera); Bismillah: first word of the Quran, "as Allah wills;" that is, "in the name of God." Scaramouche; stock clown character of the 16th-century Commedia dell'arte. Fandango? A dance. Beelzebub is an old name for the Satan, the devil. It means "lord of the flies." Galileo, Figaro? Look them up. Freddie Mercury was obviously well-read. Bohemian means a person, usually an artist of some sort; poet, composer, writer, painter, who lives unconventionally. Eccentric...A Rhapsody is a classical music composition in free form.
And he give this a pass, really, this song revolutionised music back in those days, the way the group articulated their voices has was not equaled at that point in time, but hey, I would rather listen to Freddie than some of the shit they are playing today, but to each his own
Has anyone recommended Jinjer's Pisces to you yet? It's a bit of a reaction channel rite of passage - nothing like Queen, but an amazing trio of instrumentalists and Tatiana is an incredible lead vocalist. If you want to give it a try ua-cam.com/video/SQNtGoM3FVU/v-deo.html -- This is the best version to react to - the band had just got a new drummer and he added a new twist to the song so they recorded this as a live session (added a few minor overdubs afterwards, but the core of the song is one take)
They also did Another One Bites the Dust. Just FYI Bismillah means In the name of God. It is one of the most important phrases in Islam and is used by Muslims in various contexts mostly before starting "good deeds" as well as most daily actions. Wikipedia Scaramouche is like a joker or court jester. Wikipedia provided me this information.

Great reaction but you should give this song the rule of 3 listens: You've already listened to it cold, now listen to it 2 more times with the lyrics and see how it hits you. Also you should learn a bit about the song; it helps. Come on over to my place and watch the show about this band. PS You got yourself a new subscriber.

Nice reaction. Queen is a British rock band, they are the 4th best selling artist of all time. You have heard some Queen songs, such as We Will Rock You or We Are The Champions. Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the best selling songs of all time, it has 5 different sections and 49 different cords (most song today have 1 - 4 cords). This is also the first real music video. A "Bohemian" is a unique artist, a Rhapsody is an epic tale or life story. Lead singer Freddie Mercury is most often chosen as the best vocalist of all time. Bohemian Rhapsody is a rock opera it falls under the genre of Progressive Rock. It is a more complex genre of rock where artists add jazz and classical music to rock, it does have a lot of experimentation. The song goes through the 5 stages of grieve. The middle or operatic section is a trial for his soul between heaven and hell. The song is a journey it is like a tragic opera. Queen did any genre of music, that was available at the time. You should check out Another One Bites The Dust from Queen it is a very funky song, it is a song that is often sampled in hiphop.
