Freddie Mercury is a legend. He was classically trained. He never fixed his teeth, for fear, it would change his voice. His voice could do anything. It was crystal clear, he could run laps around the chords. Iconic. The guitarist, Brian May, is not only one of the world’s greatest guitarists but he’s also an astrophysicist. Smart and talented.

I’m glad you watched this. I was one of the people recommending it. This song is legendary for good reason. In 1975 when this song was released, I was 16 years old and it blew me away. Now that you’ve taken the plunge you should delve into some more Queen. You can’t pigeonhole them, their music crosses all genres from metal, punk rock, funk, pop, gospel, rhythm and blues, jazz, even opera, (like Bo Rhap) ragtime and music hall. I highly recommend you watch Somebody to Love live at Montreal 1981. Freddie Mercury the lead singer is a legend and you’ll see why if you watch it.

It's called a Rhapsody because "A rhapsody in music is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonality. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation make it freer in form than a set of variations." - wikipedia

I wish these people who do these reactions cared enough about this music to do some reading up on it or even watching the fairly accurate movie. Heck one woman wants 150 to give you a reaction. She will even call you if you send more.I have lost respect for them except one genuinely real couple. By the time it's said and done these people have made more than the artists recording the songs. We are not going to change people's minds about music. Just remember, the more tax free money you worked hard for that you send in, the funnier and more animated your reaction in return is.

I get it that other people like to do covers of their favorite artists as a form of homage but... there are some songs, movies, etc. that you just don't touch, reboot, or revamp with your own spin on it. This rock opera masterpiece is one of those where nothing can compare or even come close to the original... It is in a class of its own & rightly dubbed as one of the greatest compositions of modern music. Every member of this band is a contributing songwriter & a master of their craft. There will never be another Freddie Mercury or another band like QUEEN. Their library of music is incredible & definitely needs more exploring - you won't be disappointed, I promise! :-)

Queen is my favorite Band of All time, the 4 together just bring a Chemistry that is absolutely amazing, and then you have the Lead singer Freddie who was literally a Musical Genius, who also had one of the best if not the best Vocal Range and stage presence of All time. I can throw 20 Queen songs at you and not ONE will sound alike. I'd bet my left nut you have heard at least 5 Queen songs and had no idea it was them. Fucking Legends

If you’ve never listened to Queen, you owe it to yourself to do so. I recommend “Somebody to Love” next. They were absolute hit machines in their day. I’d be shocked if you didn’t recognize a few of their songs immediately even if you didn’t actually know who it was you were hearing at the time.

I was 20 in 1975 and working with my mate on his MGB in the London sunshine when Kenny Everett played this record for the first time ever - anywhere in the world. At almost 6 minutes it was double the length of most singles at the time. He loved it so much that he immediately replayed it. We were shocked as it was like a thunderbolt through conventional pop and rock. Unbelievable. We all talked about it all day. Freddy and Queen had arrived. God bless them. RIP Freddy you blinking loveable genius and thank you.

Everybody that has tried covering any of their songs are just wasting their time, because there is NOBODY that can top the originals. Check out their full 25 minute set from Live Aid in 1985. The Red Special is still his number one guitar to this day. It was built from things they had around the house because he couldn't afford to buy a guitar as a teenager. Many copies have been made of it over the years because he did things with the pickups that had never been done before. Another cool tidbit is that he uses a sixpence as a pick.
