I've been a dedicated fan since 2000 and I feel like the very few that still believes Fear Factory kicks ass regardless if on albums or onstage. They are amongst the very few who started the clean vocals mixed with harsh vocals. So many people claim to be fans yet they criticize Burton's vocals constantly. They've been at it for over 20 years eventually time catches up and I don't care how they sound I'm just grateful they are still going regardless of the lineup
Not to mention their styles were ripped off by future and current "core" bands. You can't say they didn't. Hell even date the demos before Soul Of A New Machine, it's fucking disgustingly good. If that came out today, they'd have an underground success to a big label in one to two years. They busted their asses for almost 3 fuckin decades man.
Saw these guys at Ozzfest 97 in Minneapolis. Put on a great show. Immediately went out & bought the Demanufacture CD on Sunday. Been a huge fan ever since.
Gene messed up in 2/3 of the song, unfortunately. Look how Byron on bass comes to him and shows him where they are in the song. Dino also looked at Gene, because he messed up. Fear Factory is difficult to play, despite hateres opinions.
Listen to the original track. The singer came in off beat on the bridge. Up to that point, the drums, guitar, and bass were super tight, then suddenly, the singer is off beat, and then gradually, the rest of the band slips out of time with each other. I think they all got ghrown off by the vocals. As far as difficulty, this is not an easy song, but, I mean, I can play it on all three instruments, and I can't think of much Gene does on drums that I could believably do. Not to rag on FF at all, I love them and they are all good musicians, but it's not like this is techdeath or something.
This goes off the rails completely at 3:08. What follows is This is a testament to a good drummer. He had to deal with the crud. Guitar came in late. they got it back together, then the vocals came in not only late (which would've been fine if it was on the "1"), but off time. when "those of you who dare destroy" came in late, the drummer should've just adjusted to the vocalist. He was a little stubborn when he could clearly hear where to come back when the vocalist sings "AWAY!', but he was a little stubborn and tried to skip a beat "coming back in" to re-align the song. He should have just "gave in" to the vocalist and brought it back together after "away". since he plowed through the pause, they had to get it back together one more time.... So here we go again, music is totally off the rails, again. After the first "SALVATION" he finally "gave in" and went with it. Then everything is back together at 3:50. My only thinking he didn't come back in was because he was trying to align a click track that may have been VITAL to electronic cues in the music// What do you guys think? trying to re-align the click track?

Аналогично чувак!Это самый космический дэз-индастриал в мире и самый психоделичный!Механизированный и атмосферный индастриал!
А Бил Бёртон вообще маньяк!
А Билл Бертон вобще маньяк
Adds a whole new perspective to "Smasher/Devourer!"
Heaviest band ever… figuratively and quiet literally. Love me some FF!!!
Saw these guys at Ozzfest 97 in Minneapolis. Put on a great show. Immediately went out & bought the Demanufacture CD on Sunday.
Been a huge fan ever since.
Gene Hoglan is way too fucking relaxed xD
i think it is because he think that he is the greatest drummer alive. and that makes him not even think.
He messed up during this song but brought it back lol. He's definitely a legend
I was there, and was and awesome experience, I love FF, since Soul of a new machine, in 90,s
God this is badass burton did awesome.
Gene did a good job of rebounding after fumbling the drum stick at 2:39, I don’t know happened later on.
Saaaaaaaaalvaaaaaaaaatiooooon
lmfao, 2:38 gene drops his drumstick
Good catch LMAO
Even the pros do it
Wow, didn't think he would do that. He got bored lol

Ron Tluav I agree with you FF is not easy and Gene is a phenomenal drummer.it's not easy playing someone else parts.

3:00 best part of song
Pity they completely messed it up. Missed queues and out of sync for the whole sequence after
Fear fest. Fuking sounds awesome. Rip fear factory.
First time hearing this song. 😎😎
Is that Gene Hoglan (Testament/Death) playing drums ???
Yes!
Yes he was a member shortly recorded and album unfortunately Gene seems to wear out his welcome frequently

You're right. Gene had to continue on otherwise the backing track with the synths would have been out of time.
Yes, hes playing to a backing track/clip
Yep, burton and guitars should of went wherever the hell drummer was knowing that was the case. Kind of odd honestly
They hid it pretty good tho actually for how off it could of been
A great analysis of it. These issues were really obvious
3:09 FAIL DINO
TOTALLY! LMAO....god bless him
Lol yeah. Whole band was out of time for ages after
best lineup imo
La makina....de .....S.Y.L........
lmfao....poor guys totally fucked up the timing at one of thte best partz. LOVE YOU FF
Nusss que porradaria do garai!

Fear Factory is incredible, I wish to see them perform this track SMASHER/DEVOURER this year
gene hoglan
Great ! Didn't know they'd played in Hellfest !
Muito bom
Any more with this quality?
Sorry, just one from Fear Factory live at Hellfest 2010... more are coming, but others bands. Thanks for watching ;)
If sound don't like perfect for Dino never, why didn't use headsets in his ears? [Suggestions]
2:38
what the hell happened at 3:45?
dino fucked up bad
Actually Burt and Gene started the second part too early and then after a few bars the others got confused.
It turned up to be even heavier part with this particular fuck up
Is it me? or does gene kinda looks like raymond, if raymond let himself go....
Alguien sabe si grabaron todo de fear factory en hellfest, porque nada más está Smasher_Devourer
I know it's been a few years but does anyone know the name of that hoodie hes's rockin'?
Fear Fattery
I dont see how Gene uses a single chain pedal like he does.
2:39 fail gene holgan baqueta
Fuuuck, this sound of guitar! Better than on album.
It’s a baritone on stage. Dino recorded using a 25.5 semi standard on obsolete. 100% different tonality.
Прицепились какие то back to safaty если правильно написал.достали.нашел и fear factory
Mess,s up at 3.14 I think Dino comes in to early or late ...wouldn't of happened with the original line up
Dino comes in a little bit too late. Ah well , nobody 's perfect. Right?
Dino is the original lineup so what are you talking about?
Sounds so fuckin good, goddamn
Except how sloppy the song was played
I was there ! better show than fury fest , Le Mans 2004
Чё-то Джин не вытащил. Вот вам и "примитивный пулемёт Херреры"
Даже Хоглану не под силу иногда с таким примитивом справиться
Exatamente !
peekaboo salvatioooooon…
Who is the drummer in this video?
Gene hoglan
@@pablorodriguez7866 thanks!
It was a mess mid song !
Keine lust jajajajajaja!!
Jajajajaj bro
I'm sorry to say this cause these guys are my fave band, but Raymond is the only guy who can drum that song, Gene is good but FF just isn't his style.
mike heller is better then Raymond lol...
@@andrewbishop8791 just no fucking way is he. Mike is the most boring robotic player in history.
Fuck.. FF is to my early teen as IRL disappointment as such as the IRL goodness Gojira of the people in that band... Dunno if i make myself understandable here but basically what I'm saying I've always loved FF.. and Seeing Herrera that fat... no :*(
That is not Herrera on the drums.. That is Gene Hoglan (he's also no longer fat) he lost lots of weight. And he's no longer in FF.
Gene holgan Nickolas Barker the most talented fat drummer lol😜😜
Fat guitarist, fat drummer, fat bass player... it should be Fat Factory xD
PeRogiTra hahhhahhahahahh
PeRogiTra btw did they change the drummer? Or is still r herrera?
yes they changed the drummer.. now it is Mike Heller . After Herrera was Gene Hoglan and then came Mike
PeRogiTra what happened with mr herrera?!!!!! TT
Fear Factory at it's terminal heaviest. Both sonically and actually.
why is his guitar tone so muddy and flabby?. Did it get fat and lazy with the rest of the band lol?
