I bought a Greenworks 60v mower this spring to go along with my new house. It's newer than this version, but has all the same features, plus housing for 2 batteries, which is nice, but I don't need to complete my yard. I got it along with GWs trimmer and leafblower, which came with an extra battery. They all perform admirably. Never going back to gasoline powered lawn tools.
We got the same kind where there is a spot for 2 batteries. What is the second spot for? It only came with one battery but is the second spot if you just want it to last longer?
I have an older 40v version of the Greenworks lawnmower 9and snowblower) that I've had in operation for over 5 years....What I've noticed about my Greenworks tools that is different from the other 'battery' brands that I have in my toolshed is that the Greenworks batteries are the strongest and longest lasting power cells of any I've used. Of course, I baby them- never leaving them in the cold and ensuring that they are warmed up before charging - but I'm still using the same batteries 5 years later (and they get heavy usage...) Given the cost of larger batteries (often as much as the 'bare' tool) I think buyers need to consider the strength and longevity of the battery systems that underpin the tool...
@@edstar83 It may perform but we are all trying to get away from gas and oil products as much as we can. Neccessity only until alternatives become available..
I have this mower and I’m not sure if mine has a defect or that the self propel takes a bit to kick in. When I pull the handle it takes a few seconds to start moving and is extremely slow. On the fastest setting I’m still just doing a regular walk and at the lowest I walk like I’m 90. Just figured electric has great torque and I’d be chasing this thing in high gear. I’ve the EGO jumps off the line and will have you at a light jog behind it on full speed.
I’m planning to buy one at Canadian Tire 🇨🇦. Thanks to your review and research of my own you’ve sold me on Yardworks Pro. I will retire my trusty SearsCraftsman gas lawn mower for now, but I’ll keep it around anyways haha.

Just wish I would have purchased the matching Greenworks weed eater (I have the Workx one) but oh well, at least NO gas or messy oil any more !!!
Umm. Takes about half an hour to charge fully also. I would like to mention that there are 4 bars on the battery that light up that show the battery life. My 1 acre yard takes about a battery and a half to mow fully.
The wife mows grass, etc.. I helped her buy a Kobalt 80v last year 2018, and she loves it vs. the gas/oil, yank the rope start that she use to operate.. It works just like this Green tool does.. Cuts the grass just fine. The only Green tool that I have is the pole saw, if I had seen that Kobalt had that as well, I would have got it instead, so all my tools would have been Kobalt with 80v batteries...
I have the snapper with 82v which is the twin to greenworks. I have the self propelled model . Self propulsion uses extra battery power when using and will cut battery in half. I have found that while using it does not cut through wet grass like a gas powered would but that is worst case scenario.
Just got this mower for $95 without battery at Lowes. I already had the battery since I own the greenworks 60V trimmer. Nothing wrong with it, not a return either, they’re just clearing up their inventory.

Nice ad for Greenworks. You should review the lawn mower and compare it with others. Looks like it takes a second for the self-propel to kick in which would be annoying.
This is steel and the EGO is a super strong plastic. If you are on the fence between these to manufacturers, I would look at the other tools too - once you get into a battery platform it most cost effective to stay within that line.

Thank you for this video! I bought the mower and couldn't figure out how to start it! The book is detailed but lots of fine print. To start it is pulling the bar and pushing the button at the same time, unlike a gas lawnmower.
so i went with ego cuz i have blower n trimmer from last year. Good mower but it left uncut pieces all over my lawn, i got st augstine grass. Does the greenworks give a cleaner cut from your time of use? Might just buy greensworks and try it out. Hopefully they dont harass me on returns on either.
I have heard complaints about the EGO mower. I never had a problem with the cut quality but I also don't have thicker grass like st augstine. I would give the greenworks a try - make sure you let me know how it works out.
Barbara - the mower is about 68# without the battery. I'm a 5'5" average female and can get it up and into the back of my Honda CRV by myself without too much issue. My arms being short only makes it awkward to handle, but not impossible.
How much run time are you seeing from the 60v 5ah battery? I've mowed with mine 3 times and I haven't been able to mow for longer than 30 minutes. Not enough time to finish my .4 acre lot which is disappointing. Greenworks thinks it's a problem with the charger and they're sending me a new one. I hope that's the case because I want to buy additional tools but I'm hesitant if the battery won't last long enough to mow my yard.
The best that I can tell you is that I mowed my yard about 1/2 acre and my neighbor did his yard another 1/2 acre and still had a bit of juice left. In your case, I would think battery before charger. Curious to see how it works out.
Corey - I have this mower and a flat but kind of bumpy 1/3 acre yard in SW Missouri. This mower will do about half of my yard on the level 3 height (there are 7 levels) before it dies. That's ONLY IF I'm mowing in the morning when it's cooler outside. AND if I don't use self-propel OR bag. When it's hotter outside, the battery dies on level 7 setting in 20 minutes. It's pitiful. I just bought a second battery for $200 after spending $500 on the mower and have left an unhappy review on the Greenworks site. My opinion is that you realistically need 3 batteries to do 1/2 acre of grass in normal hot summer conditions IF you don't self-propel or bag. Otherwise, you're looking at mowing taking you 2 days unless you have no life and can sit around all day to wait for a recharge. I don't believe this video put it through "real world" condition testing very well.
The second generation version has space to hold two batteries. You can put in two batteries of 5Ah each, total 10Ah. But you have to spend extra for the second battery, since it only comes with one battery.
Hardest part of researching cordless or corded mowers is seeing how they perform. This video does not help with that. Just like most. Instead they show the obvious. Thanks!
Kite Army few and far between. I could do a features review without ever owning the product. Not knocking your review as much as voicing displeasure over not getting to witness performance. I have to believe that this is in at least the top 3 concerns about going electric cord or battery. Thanks for sharing your experience. Do appreciate that.
I personally don't like videos of people mowing - gets very boring fast and really hard to tell what kind of job the mowers really doing. But some like it too. Hopefully my video had some value for you.
Hi They - The mower will work with any of the 60V batteries. Just grab and go to the next 60V tool. We don't have a 7.5Ah battery but for the same price as the 7.5Ah battery you can pick up two 5Ah batteries. While you're working with one 5Ah battery the other is charging instead of having to wait for the bigger battery to recharge.
We need a review with long term use. How long till battery needs replacing ,not just charging? Sounds like your reading bullet points from a brochure. You didn’t really cut one shred of grass. Sorry but I don’t think the mower is worth the price and expense of battery replacement
I don't know how much experience you have with cordless mowers, but i have a ton. For smaller property's (say up to 1/4 acre) they are awesome. But for now they still sell gas models so you should be all set (for now)
I believe that the 60v are exclusive to Lowes and the 40v and 80v are public. I suppose they cut a deal with Lowes so that Lowes could charge whatever price the wanted without competition.
that's a good looking mower, but I must admit I hate the way it folds up compared to Ego. Also, the steel deck doesn't seem to be a plus in my opinion. My old mower chipping and rusting is something I don't miss. Overall, it looks very comparable to Ego 21" self propelled
@@Kitearmy Maybe you "could" do it, if you want to mow five days a week. Just like you "could" mow an acre with a Scotts manual reel mower... Seriously anyone with an acre sized lawn needs at a very minimum something like a Toro Timemaster.

Very poor reviews from Amazon. Their support is really bad according to reviews. I wouldn't chance buying it. Especially if it takes over an hour to be connected to a support technician.
Sadly this was not very helpful for me. They sell them with the 2.0 batteries in Canada. Doing the math you give . They should last 24 minutes each and they last 15. Now you are also cutting grass that doesn't need to be cut. So I guess you would get an hour from a battery if it didn't have to work hard. THat is shorter than our grass after we cut it !! LOL We are supposed to cut the lawn to 3 inches and no shorter in order to retain the correct moisture in the soil. I don't want to return my mower but I would need 6 batteries just to do my front lawn.
@@Kitearmy Well I haven't heard of ego. Canadian Tire sells Greenworks. I am trying to find a 4.0 or 5.0 battery but I can't find one. I am a single mom. I borrowed the money for this mower. I haven't even paid for it yet. I don't think we can get a 5.0 in Canada. That would make a huge difference.

My died after 1 day of mowing . The mower kept dying while I was mowing. My grass was too tall but still this seem week. After I recharge the battery I was mowing and it completely died. I just returned it to store. I need another mower
I have heard others with the same complaint - I would give the EGO mower a try
@100,000 Subscribers With Daily Videos Challenge ❶ Yeah - if you maintain your grass this should not be a problem
I've used my greenworks for two years and it hasn't died
Nice ad for Greenworks. You should review the lawn mower and compare it with others. Looks like it takes a second for the self-propel to kick in which would be annoying.
I have heard lots of complaints about this mower
How long does a battery last
about 1/4 acre
I have the same one and these are great.
Good mower for sure
what is the exact model number for this one???
How does this mower compare to the 56V EGO 21" self propelled mower?
This is steel and the EGO is a super strong plastic. If you are on the fence between these to manufacturers, I would look at the other tools too - once you get into a battery platform it most cost effective to stay within that line.
Kite Army , great advice. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!
Lowes says they no longer carry this item. Seems like it was only available from them. Got any idea what is going on? I'm interested!
Does this work: www.lowes.com/pd/Greenworks-Pro-60-volt-Self-propelled-Brushless-Lithium-Ion-21-in-Cordless-Electric-Lawn-Mower-Battery-Included/1000410713
Wow, I think I'm in love! And the mower looks pretty cool too :)
She's all yours
It works great and overall. After about a year of using it it pays off the price compared to gas. It costs much less.
Thank you for this video! I bought the mower and couldn't figure out how to start it! The book is detailed but lots of fine print. To start it is pulling the bar and pushing the button at the same time, unlike a gas lawnmower.
Cordless mowers have odd quirks like that - it's meant to protect kids from accidentally starting
Thnx for the video - learned how to get the blade going - the manual is weak in that department.
Right on - glad to have helped
Does it also cut grass?? How about on an incline??
Don't be crazy - make sure your check out the EGO mower. Better battery system
how is this compare to the ego as far as cut quality when mulching. I'm debating on going with ego but this one looks interesting
Unfortunately my grass pile was not thick enough to declare a champion yet. Later this summer the head to head will help determine the king.
Kite Army thanks for the reply, this a hard choice cuz they both around same price and both have pros that trumps the cons.
That is true...I would choose the mower not based on the mower but rather which tool line you prefer.
so i went with ego cuz i have blower n trimmer from last year.
Are these driven from the rear or front wheels ??
rear
Loved quick, efficient height adjustment. How heavy is it? It looked light when you took it out of the car.
The mower's pretty substantial in weight....I'm just stronger than I look. Must be good genes :)
Barbara - the mower is about 68# without the battery. I'm a 5'5" average female and can get it up and into the back of my Honda CRV by myself without too much issue. My arms being short only makes it awkward to handle, but not impossible.
This is not one of the lightest mowers - it has a steel deck but it will last forever!
Did Greenworks explain why the charger could be the problem if the battery reads fully charged but dies quickly? That doesn't seem very logical?
Thanks Stephanie. I know that my subs appreciate your comment.
I agree with you on the charger - not sure that makes much sense.
I love green works
Good stuff
How does it compare to the EGO Mower?!?!?
It's a fine mower - I sprung for the Cadillac and have the EGO
@@Kitearmy The EGO's at Home Depot are last years models except the 2 blade one. 🙄
@@JasonCarmichael The 2 blade is called the select cut - that is the model I would spring for
Enjoying your videos but my mowers are always one pull. If not it's tune up time. And yes, I do wash and wax it.
I appreciate a man who takes great care of his outdoor power equipment
have you had issues with this mower not being able to start?
Nope - check your battery
@@Kitearmy I did. I think it is the lockout switch, but I am not much on the electronic wiring
Is your battery charged and pushed in all the way Victoria?
Thanks for the review...it was awesome!
thanks mate
Thanks for the review. Love the Volt as well!
Glad you liked it....Your right about the volt - it has been my favorite car that I have ever owned.
I want to see it after 5 years.
still looking good
Wasted review, never seen it cut any grass!
I hated this review...I thumbs down it and every video on this channel...
Kite Army
Actually how it reacts to cutting grass is pretty crucial
compare with stihl and ego?
can you make a video on its height adjustment system
Yes - stay tuned
Kite Army I am waiting
A whole video for the height adjustment system? It takes two seconds to change the mowing height on this mower.
Where do you purchase the 60 volt 21" self propelled?
Lowe's
Lowes
I feel like with all the weight they saved from not having an engine they could have put a monster battery pack on that thing. I’m talking 10Ah.
The second generation version has space to hold two batteries. You can put in two batteries of 5Ah each, total 10Ah. But you have to spend extra for the second battery, since it only comes with one battery.
This guy is the "Scotty Kilmer" of outdoor consumer products. Great review 👍🏼
Thanks mate
Is there a big difference between the 60 to the 80 my yard is not that big
even with the 60v you should be able to mow for about 1/2 hour
Hardest part of researching cordless or corded mowers is seeing how they perform. This video does not help with that. Just like most. Instead they show the obvious. Thanks!
Those videos are out there - others want to see all the featuers - hard to make everyone happy
Kite Army
It was a very good review👍just missed one crucial interest point
11"999apopqa
It looks nicer than the ego self propelled but no 7.5 ah battery?
True. This mower can only work with one size battery. The ego has more flexibility in that sense.
Great comment...
I have the snapper version of this! Love it!
Very cool.. One of these days I have to check out the snapper mowers
They are the same as the Greenworks. Different wheels and color otherwise same parts.
I think they make for Kobolt too - oddly similar parts.
I love my snapper
I saw a display of snapper lawn equipment at Walmart - stuff looked good
Love your reviews keep up the good work.
Much appreciated!
But for now they still sell gas models so you should be all set (for now)
Saw one in Walmart this morning, how's it holding up?
It's OK - I have moved back to my EGO mower
How heavy is it.
I would call it about 50lbs
That doesn't make sense, Greenworks already had an 80volt mower. Why would they switch to 60volts?
I think they are revamping their 80v line?
I believe that the 60v are exclusive to Lowes and the 40v and 80v are public. I suppose they cut a deal with Lowes so that Lowes could charge whatever price the wanted without competition.
sort of a Lowes exclusive - makes it harder to comparison shop
They already had a 60v volt mower also
I got a 40v works good.
Cool - they seem to be pushing the 40v gear
would have like to see I mow some actual grass.
I can appreciate that. I did this video in early spring and thick grass was limited
hope you do not have any trouble with it ,the customer service is not good.
I could see that problem
Why didn't you do this review and video when you actually had grass length to mow?
Just how it worked out
How come none of the electric mower reviews show them cutting tall grass? What gives?
I cut too much grass in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Za0yFuhiWQw/v-deo.html
that's a good looking mower, but I must admit I hate the way it folds up compared to Ego. Also, the steel deck doesn't seem to be a plus in my opinion. My old mower chipping and rusting is something I don't miss. Overall, it looks very comparable to Ego 21" self propelled
The Ego has a few more creature comforts but in terms of mowabilty they are very comparable
I like the car 🚗 lol
I wish the road was full of these - they are so much fun
@@Kitearmy can this car pull a small trailer?
Do mean the car - yes
@4:54 Lol, this is not the mower for someone with a 43,560 square foot (one acre) lawn. :)
It could do it but maybe you would not want to
@@Kitearmy Maybe you "could" do it, if you want to mow five days a week. Just like you "could" mow an acre with a Scotts manual reel mower... Seriously anyone with an acre sized lawn needs at a very minimum something like a Toro Timemaster.
Timemaster would be a good option. My parents made me mow a 2 acre property with a push mower - now drive assitance
Are the blades made out of plastic? I didn’t see any grass being cut
Nice job mowing non existent grass genious
Richard - I just don't have it in me to hurt grass
Kite Army lol you make yourself look stupid saying that
I wonder why this company does not use aluminum for its body? It's rust resistant and is strong and lighter than steel.
cost maybe. I don't know of any decks made of aluminum?
I am totally disappointed in my greenworks mower. Battery last 20 minutes tops. When I called the company they told me the mower battery life is only 20 minutes ! Tha is not what this guys is saying. Customer service was rude and could care less that I am unhappy with my mower. They actually told me that I was the 1st person EVER to complain. I could not be more disappointed with my greenworks!
That sucks - return and buy an EGO
20 minutes tops? Mine only did that one time when we let the grass get too long
Very poor reviews from Amazon. Their support is really bad according to reviews. I wouldn't chance buying it. Especially if it takes over an hour to be connected to a support technician.
Go and check out the EGO mower - I prefer that model over this 1. I have a reveiw on this channel
No EGO head 2 head?
Looks like a head to head is in order
With how light cordless mowers are, why do people need a self-propelled mower? To me, that's just wasted battery energy.
Depends on yard size - many of these units have enough power to be self propelled
1:37 brave man
or dumb
Sadly this was not very helpful for me. They sell them with the 2.0 batteries in Canada. Doing the math you give . They should last 24 minutes each and they last 15. Now you are also cutting grass that doesn't need to be cut. So I guess you would get an hour from a battery if it didn't have to work hard. THat is shorter than our grass after we cut it !! LOL We are supposed to cut the lawn to 3 inches and no shorter in order to retain the correct moisture in the soil. I don't want to return my mower but I would need 6 batteries just to do my front lawn.
Have you tried an EGO mower - I prefer that over the greenworks
@@Kitearmy Well I haven't heard of ego. Canadian Tire sells Greenworks. I am trying to find a 4.0 or 5.0 battery but I can't find one. I am a single mom. I borrowed the money for this mower. I haven't even paid for it yet. I don't think we can get a 5.0 in Canada. That would make a huge difference.
@@mompluspaynes Do you have home depot? - Ego is probably cheaper and more reliable than the greenworks
Yes I do and they come with a 5 amp battery but I can't get a refund for my mower. Only a store credit :( Are the batteries interchangeable??
@@mompluspaynes No - generally not between brands. What store did you buy from - tell them you are not satisfied.
Sorry no tall grass to cut
Me either :(
One hour..hmm got 2.5 acres..be a while
can you say...lawn mowing service
Can you say, trees and wildflowers? It is outrageous to have that much area in lawn.
Please NO BACK GROUND MUSIC; totally unneeded!
I fixed the problem. Just turn your volume knob counter-clockwise.
Excellent solution... works great to shut your pie hole spewing bullshit!
junk, the grass u mowed was less then 1 inch. Try that on a regular over grown lawn , that mower probaly won’t even budge
Yeah - made this video in the spring and the grass was very short
yes it does mow grass I have one.
I thought you like the ego morer. Traitor. Ego kicks butt
I like peanut butter and chocolate - No traitor just a lover
Review for fools, with no cut grassing.
Don’t buy this. It’ll beep twice at you and never start.
2 beeps is so mocking
I have a GreenWorks 40v cordless mower that is 3 years old. They do NOT stock a replacement blade, there is no replacement.. DO NOT BUY GREENWORKS
Can you use a non oem blade?
No. The blade has chevron shaped positioning lugs that fit into matching holes on the blade.
I saw some on amazon
None of those fit
@@doonsdad7650 That sucks - I have settled on the EGO mower and just bought a high lift blade 3 weeks ago

first minute and a half wasted from my life. Second, good info at the end, but you cut grass that didn't need cutting. SERIOUSLY? HOW ABOUT A REAL test, and how about with leaves, dog crap and damp grass. Good try but no cigar.
Not sure that I'm interested in testing this on dog crap
