This reminds me of when I set up my tent in the living room and "camped out with my wife and two daughters" it was pretty good way to test everything out before really using it
Very smart to test your gear close to home instead of being in the middle of nowhere. The biggest issue with a car top tent is not having a liner to keep you extra warm. Love the fact that the company makes a insulation for the car top thermal liner is fantastic.
Just got an insulator for my Tepui Ayer 2 for Christmas. We did the same thing as you did, set up in the garage to test it. A little more condensation with it all buttoned up than I was hoping for but still a great addition to the gear bag.
@@KDad514 I just ordered the insulator and anti condensation mat today, hoping it’ll allow me to use the tent more this winter. The little buddy was sketchy/creating too much condensation in the tent. Thanks
@@thetrackside Yeah propane is the worst for tent camping. On average it adds 1.6 lbs. of moisture per lb. of propane burned.. When the temps drop we use a few stainless Hydro Flask bottles filled with hot water and it does the trick, especially with the insulator. Happy trails to you.
😂😂😂😂😎 Fantastic review on the tent cover I’m sorry bro but Ashley most definitely adds a hilarious view to your videos 😝 most excellent right now I have a -20° field sport sleeping bag I love it I am picking up a -32° extra bag for my camping gear. Keep the great videos coming ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
Talon, Nice lantern. You mentioned you would like a black version. A community of flashlight enthusiasts made the BLF LT1. Its smaller than your lantern, runs off 4x18650s, has a month long runtime of the lowest mode, can charge your Ipad, phone etc, usb-c charging, and variable color temperature for sunset, moonlight, etc. I have one in black and like it a lot.
5:11 are there holes in the roof of the tent? I’d seen someone suggest the hardware on the ladder itself will damage the tent if you don’t cover it with a cloth or something.
Alway a fun funny video when Ashley there. Looks like you will be warmer camping now. 👍😂😂💙. PS: My knife came yesterday love it. 🔥🔥💙💙. Where is the pup?
Sorry to be that guy, but for the crazy price the Ikamper charges for their tents the insulation should be included. I plan on upgrading my tent in the future to one that does have insulation cause mine is not good at all for cold weather. I also want that lantern so much.
haha! (1:08) MOIST! There, I said it for you. Being moist while camping = no bueno! Warm is good tho. Thanks for this. It'd make a cool fort in the living room too. XD I'm cracking myself up here hahahaha! And dark. I bet it blocks out a TON of light too... Winter camping is awesome, especially down here in FL. I'm going this weekend, to Ocala. This would be good for us too, since below 50, I turn into a popsicle.
Great video! Can you leave the insulation installed and store away the tent? And which generation ikamper mini is that? I think the newer version is thicker when stored? Thanks.
I'm no expert on winter camping but something that helps me is grip tape on my latter so I don't fall off my truck haha and a electric heated mat powered by my portable power bank keeps me warm in -10. Have fun ☺️
Hey I was just wondering when will your fixed blade knives be available for purchase Will they be available before June I would like to buy one and be able to take it on a vacation trip that I’m going on
Hey Talon, I have been watching your videos for a while and I love your content. However, just keep in mind you might want to store the sleeping bags in a larger laundry bag style bag and only use the stuff sacks when actually traveling so the insulation stays in good shape.
Thanks for the content man! Always enjoy your stuff. If you ever wanna review the Redtail Overland unit, I’d watch the shit outta that one too, hahaha 😉.
@@TalonSei Oh I know right. Im not saying it's not worth the price, it looks like the quality and craftsman ship is there, but oooooffff. I just thought it really went well with your style of camping, and your reviews are always solid. Maybe one day, ill send them an email, with the zero pull I have lol, and see if they have one for review. Expectations = 0. Keep up all youre doing man, always appreciate your content.
and yup she was right your bad looks like a carrot, when her glass was all fog up i was think of scooby doo for some reason idk why. it always good to check out your gear before you need it or go to use it
I bought an Ozark trail sleeping bag that claims 0 degree. I was hesitant since it was so cheap but man I woke up sweating from being overheated. Needless to say it works in 28 degree weather.
You guys made me laugh talking about the cold. Test is a little distorted you’re also sheltered from the garage . I live an Alberta Canada and have a Skycamp mimi. Me and the girlfriend have camped out in weather of -41°Celsius . I to have the quilted cover for the tent although I hate setting it up it is a pain in the ass especially when you’re in the cold and you’re trying to do it quickly. I wish they made the hard shell with an extra 2 or 3 inches of height so it would fit in much easier and you could leave your bedding in there it is my biggest complaint about ikamper. A couple of little tips which can make a real difference. We have four sleeping bags 2 Summer and 2 winter. Our sleeping bags are able to connect together and form a double sleeping bag being together will help you stay warmer . If you are still a little chilly Strip down naked skin to skin contact will increase your warmth believe it or not. It also creates a much stronger bonding experience for couples lol. Some of the cold will come up from the floor I went down to Home Depot and got some carpet tiles with adhesive on the back. Cut them all to size allowing for around the joints and fold and then stick them all down. This will give a little insulation will help deal with condensation and give a little more grip stopping things from sliding around. If it’s going to be a really cold night and you’re concerned don’t drink alcohol as this will make you feel the cold even more. And my number one tip it’s better than a buddy heater and anything else it is not very expensive and your lady friend partner will love it get a quilted hot water bottle. It sounds silly and old-fashioned I know but it doesn’t require any power to keep it going all night there’s no chance of it causing a fire you just boil up a pot of water fill it up and it’s good for 6 to 7 hours.
The banter between Ashlee and you is so great.
Is it just me or is Ashlee always just as happy as a clam rotfl. Great content Talon!
This reminds me of when I set up my tent in the living room and "camped out with my wife and two daughters" it was pretty good way to test everything out before really using it
Great video, I really like the look of the iKamper Mini, hopefully I can get one soon, weather doesn't get that cold here in Ireland too often either.

More Ashlee … absolute class … love the lighthearted mood when she is in the vids …

@@thetrackside Yes but not the Thule I'm still using my Elite mat from Tuff Stuff Overland I got awhile ago.

I’m watching this in my tent in my room :)
Love your content bro.
This van life and camping life looks super fun. Kinda bring the kid back outta ya.
Keep it up Talon … next trip Grand Canyon 👍🏾
Good thing about garage camping, no bears!! Looks like a winner to me!
How cute!❤
6:37 Yeah Mountain Hardwear has some good gear
You should look into an all in one diesel heater. I am DIYing one myself soon. Best option for heating RTTs

Ozark for the win!
I thought it was hotboxed🤣 seems perfect for that kind of thing 💨 🌲
I really want to know what type of shoes you were wearing when you guys went out to the garage
Can you still pack stuff up with this insulation layer inside?
Hi, I read that the Skycamp Mini's mattress isn't very good. What are your thoughts?
Hey Talon, how big's your garage? Want to keep this in mind when I'm hunting for a house shortly
Not big enough lol. 2 car plus with 12ft ceilings
Thanks for the video. Do you think you can fit a baby in addition to you and your partner in Skycamp Mini?
Great video! Can you leave the insulation installed and store away the tent? And which generation ikamper mini is that? I think the newer version is thicker when stored? Thanks.
2.0 and you can store it inside but it’s not easy. I take it out.
Do you like this more than the Freespirit tri-layer?
Not even close. FSR all the way

Jessie, What heated mat do you use? I bought a 12v heated blanket, but have not been able to find a good suitable heating pad.
Thanks in advance.
@deanpayne1172 I use a heated quilt from home depo works great.

Soon! Like mentioned right here -

not to be weird but you literally almost live next to my buddy that's stationed there! Dope ass video tho
First was camping in the bed of the Taco then in the garage, what's next in the Weirdest Places We've Slept Series?
We will see! 😂
It looks like the most Gucci blanket fort!
What tent set up is that, and do they make they versions for larger trucks? Thanks man!
The Skycamp mini. This is the smallest and they make other much larger versions.
@@TalonSei thanks brother!
Is this the gray or white liner?
Light gray
@@TalonSei Thank you
I just installed my a couple days ago, did you have any trouble closing up with it in?
It was NOT easy haha but we made it work
Yall having to much fun
That’s amazing. But what’s wrong with room service. I keep calling and no one picks up! Give me a hood hotel
I do the exact same thing! I have the 12.9 inch ipad and we download movies for the tent nights! Lol thanks for that lantern idea!

That’s what the “laundry bag” I mentioned that comes with my bag is for 👍🏻
Thanks for the content man! Always enjoy your stuff. If you ever wanna review the Redtail Overland unit, I’d watch the shit outta that one too, hahaha 😉.
If I could get one for review I would. Not about to drop half the truck price for a tent tho lol

Talon, what shoes did you kick off before climbing in the camper for the night?
Crocs 😎
Nice! I love my crocs. Those look way different than the ones I have.
They look like TacCrocs!
Ozark is a great show
Hey Talon what are you using to hold that iPad up ?
Cheap amazon mount
Very cool

Please don't take this wrong way but you two look and act like an old married couple. Cute. LOL.
Should have parked the truck in the driveway for a real world test? I guess you didn’t want to be those weird neighbors that camp in their driveway.
