Folate is a nutrient that our body needs to stay healthy. It helps with many important processes in our body, like making new cells and protecting our eyes. But there are some things that can make our body not have enough folate, like certain medications and drinking too much alcohol.
When we don't have enough folate, it can increase the risk of heart disease and other health problems. So it's important to eat foods that have folate, like liver, spinach, and eggs.
Sometimes, people may need to take a folate supplement to make sure they have enough. Let's dive into the "when" and "how"!

My husband has MTHFR Factor V. I read in the Book Dirty Genes,he shouldn't take the synthetic form of folic acid. Most Drs are clueless about MTHFR.

I’m pretty sure folinic acid doesn’t interfere with the DHFR enzyme like folic acid does, as well it is more bioavailable. Can you explain why you recommend people don’t take folinic acid?
    Kind regards

If we try to get folate naturally from the diet, what are the chances we actually can absorb folate, or any other nutrients, since most of the humans on this planet seem to be suffering from one kind of gut issue or another? So technically, in a perfect world, we can get nutrients from our food, but realistically??
