I made Mega man's AI that some people requested 8) All of the AI's judges are simple enough to be reproduced on the NES. and it doesn't make any advanced judges based on fine coordinates. sometimes it looks like that, but it's a coincidence caused by random values. the learning function is also simple based on the number of damage and successful attacks during a certain action. The purpose of the challenge series is to see if any AI can defeat the enemy on the same rules as the player. just like we don't keep track of how many the game over when the player to defeat the boss, I don't keep track of how many challenger's detailed wins or losses. please try to understand. I'm going to give you a little bit of detail. AI Mega has the characteristic of Mega man from various series. the Charge shot looks like a MM4, but the hitbox is a little smaller than MM5. also AI Mega is AI to control the playable Mega man, it may malfunction when certain commands overlap. of course input from the player is locked. AI Mega has some simple learning function. the learning is reset after each fight, so it doesn't carry over to the next fight. I haven't changed his AI by the enemy robot he's playing against. all the same AI. of course he is a bit smarter than the others, but designed to be simple. AI Mega version1 doesn't detect the coordinates of enemy robots' bullets. but like the other robots, he get enemy robot attack's notice. and It judges the position of enemy robots by 3types (too close, near, far)
@@zettovii1367maybe not detection (if this is gonna be NES-replicable) but knowing how many hitboxes are onscreen could help more than just knowing when attacks happen
It's insane to me that the AI learned to beat Blizzard Man by sliding under both the startup and the ending of his rolling attack but was completely helpless on how to beat Yamato Man
Apparently, Rock doesn't know about weapon-generated stage hazards. Also, he ran into Crash/Clash/Crush/Clush Man too many times for my liking. I'd think that a "Best of 5/10" (with A.I. reset per attempt) would've given a bit more nuanced result. Granted, most of the other losses (including Yamato) appeared legit.
I remember watching some older videos where Mega Man fought multiple bosses, thinking "HOLY CRAP! What a kickass AI this guy gave to Mega Man! He dodges and fires shots with near perfect accuracy!" ...I didn't realize Mega was being player controlled. :V
This video was a ride The Blizzard and Wind dodges were absolutely crazy, and he even managed to take down Quick Man, but then he struggled against a lot of the simpler Robot Masters like Bomb Man and Copy Bot
Battles seem go on too short to use that to his advantage unless there was a lucky break. Just like I'm thinking Rock got hosed on Crash/Clash/Crush/Clush Man due to running into him too much too early, Blizzard probably got Punked due to a few lucky dodges that Rock was able to replicate. Never thought of Rock as a Squishy Wizard until now.
The ai can only detect the enemy's position, not the bullets, so since most of blizzard man's attacks are about bumrushing megaman, the ai was able to dodge his attacks flawlessly.
I wish you the best for creating such creative Mega Man content in these years, i love your videos and i never miss one! Now, lets watch this amazing video ❤
I guess giving it the ability to dodge by reading where the bullets are would be a bit too good. I gotta wonder how he’ll stand against the robot masters though.
I love how AI Mega is both a genius sassy fucker who clowns on his enemies by jumping over them, and then sliding under them to avoid damage (literally no reason for him to do that, he just does) but also an idiot who just takes damage because he felt like it, I guess.
You made very good present by making AI of Mega Man, congratulations in day of my (with Bossedit7's) birthday. 🎉🎉🎉 You are keeping great and most valuable dude in Mega Man AI Battles.
I feel like Mega Man AI is a mix of Fire Man by attacking his ennemy at a certain distance and Bass first fight in Mega Man 7 where he alternatively he attacks by shooting multiple little shots and charged shots.
The AI description sounds a lot like DrillMan from MM4 (attacking differently based on how far away the enemy is) but with notifications on when the enemy attacks
I didn't see this coming. It also gave me good insight when it comes to facing Quick Man. I'll have to come back to this video in case I feel the need to face Quick Man with just Air Shooter
....Damn. Whatever A.I. you gave Mega Man seems to be pretty good, considering how it deals with Blizzard Man and his rolling attack. ---------------------------------------- "DMG Original" Elec and Ice Man: huehuehuehuehue
It did rather well. It knows its not a good idea to let the enemy jump on him so it dodges pretty well, and it did really well with shots fired horizontally but other strategies not so much 🤷🏻♂️
AI Mega mostly seems to lose against Robot Masters with very non-standard attack patterns (Crashman, Heatman, Flameman and the like), plus Iceman's and Eleceman's ridiculous damage output. Aside from that, Shield users in general break him, with the exception of Knightman because Knightman sucks. ...He's also quite weak against his own tendency to never stand still, as seen in the Bowser fight XD Everything else though, he's doing surprisingly well.
the fact that ai mega man managed to get behind air man, which is pretty much an instant win condition if you know what you're doing, and them _walked back in front of him_ and got instantly pulverized is so frustrating
If AI Mega only learned the secret technique Ora Ora Ora! (spamming lemons head on, while ignoring enemy attacks), then even the invincible AirMan would have been beaten. Alas, good run!
Watching this video, I _think_ I've figured AI Megaman out. It's a combination of Elecman / Copy Robot, Fireman, and some programming that makes him charge after three shots unless interrupted by jumping, and slide if a hurtbox is a certain distance above him. More or less, anyway.
Interesting. I hope we can see more Megaman on your next videos! Also, why does he have contact damage? (is it supposed to replicate/imitate his og counterpart from the official games?)
He beats some high tiers like Metal, and then gets destroyed by Ice. And regardless, he mostly always barely wins or barely loses. I don't even know how to rank him.
I was under the impression that AI Mega would lose nearly all of these completely. Mega Man’s mobility and firepower is puny compared to most of the bosses, who can often leap around the screen and fire a dozen bullets at once. In my mind the real difference maker was just that Mega Man is in the player’s control, it’s their own skill and adaptability that makes this anything close to a fair fight. That learning ability you put into this thing must be REALLY impressive to match that. Either that or I have to re-examine what makes a Mega Man boss different from a player…
I'd like to see Shadow Man face these guys. He's no joke when I'm fighting him in MM3, but with different collision rules, I suspect he may have some difficulty fighting other robot masters.
The wildest part here is how many of the perennial losers here handled Mega Man easily. Flame Man and Yamato Man in particular kinda tore him apart, which shows how much their AI really benefits from contact damage. On the same point, the Megaman AI seemed to dodge a lot of attacks that the other AIs just can't seem to handle, like Wind Man's Wind Blades

Who would've guessed AI Megaman's weakness would be his allergy to stop moving
also, enemies that just run into him. He lost on all of them.
That can be very well shown in his fight with Flame Man and the final showdown with Bowser
And a phenomenon that I can only describe as lingering hitboxes (see: AirMan, WoodMan, CrashMan, FireMan, PlantMan)
The way he jumps over then slides underneath Blizzard Man's roll attack. He learned very well
That was awesome
I literally got to that part as I read this comment
Mega man AI fight community is eating good this week
At least, that community is very cool and isn't toxic.
It's insane to me that the AI learned to beat Blizzard Man by sliding under both the startup and the ending of his rolling attack but was completely helpless on how to beat Yamato Man
And barely beat Bomb Man which should have been easy.
Bomb Man bombs radius explosion is dangerous when you don't know where to move or you are slow
It's fascinating to see him expertly dodge Blizzard Man's every attack while losing miserably to Yamato Man and others. It was definitely interesting.
I think Wind Man as well was a decent showing of how it was learning too, never got hit by the twin blades. Only hits Wind Man got were contact hits.
I remember watching some older videos where Mega Man fought multiple bosses, thinking "HOLY CRAP! What a kickass AI this guy gave to Mega Man! He dodges and fires shots with near perfect accuracy!"
...I didn't realize Mega was being player controlled. :V
Gotta give the AI Mega more credit that I thought I would. Watching him jump and slide dodge Wind Man and Blizzard Man's attacks was satisfying.
AI Mega did quite well on some of these fights. Imagine what he'd be capable of under TASBot's tutelage.
This video was a ride
The Blizzard and Wind dodges were absolutely crazy, and he even managed to take down Quick Man, but then he struggled against a lot of the simpler Robot Masters like Bomb Man and Copy Bot
Fitting that Mega Man's AI would be centered around learning!

Never thought of Rock as a Squishy Wizard until now.
It's weird seeing enemies doing proper contact damage now that the real Mega Man is back into the mix.
AI Mega Man managed to do some impressive dodges and then wasn’t able to avoid simpler attacks
Literally me playing lol
