  • Over the back belt grip
    Belt grip compared to head grip gives more ability to lift uki up and prevent him from dropping to avoid big throws.
    From this grip always pull in tightly
    - if head is in front with legs close O soto, legs far O goshi
    - if head is behind legs close O soto, legs far push head down with elbow and uki otoshi
    - if arms are extended pushing you away use inside grip at the wrist to take control of arm and throw uki to the same side as his head.
    - if the second arm escapes move into Overhook and control the head. Throw forward if head is down or O soto if head is upright.

    Damn. I wish you had been my coach. None of those throws were traditional judo throw from the gokyo no waza. (Or maybe I'm forgetting). But dam they all look effective at getting uki to the ground. I just wish I had more time to train so I could get some reps in on these techniques. 😢
