I know you're some kind of fitness professional or something. I think I heard you say that. You show your biceps often, and sometimes, even your... cleavage. But can you show your abs? Abs is really the only way to tell if someone is fit or not. I've seen far too many people whose abs are not fit, but claim that they are fit (they are not).

@@michaelsong5555 I don’t know where you got that idea from, but there are plenty of people who are fit and don’t have abs. To get abs it’s more about calorie restrictions vs muscle building and physical exercise, especially for women.

Hi, Michelle! I really love your videos and your personality :). They keep me on my weight loss track (from 100kg to 83kg, and still going) and also serve as a distraction when I just randomly want to binge.
I recently stumbled upon this video, which is a guy commenting on the body positivity trend in a really funny way, and most of his points align with yours! Though the doctor part is taken a bit out of context, I think you might enjoy this and have a good laugh (or maybe even react to it!). I once had to be discreetly removed from a ride at a theme park, because I couldn’t fit. In the U.K. it’s rarely done and to be fair to the staff they did a great job making it subtle and had no embarrassment leaving so I appreciated that. I did feel bad for my partner because I missed out on an experience with her on a brand new ride.
Since then I lost 5 stone (70lbs) and went back and not only did I fit in the ride again, but my partner and I were sitting comfortably on all of them. It was a great and confident time.
Honestly losing weight was the best decision just to improve my quality of life such as on occasions like these.

there's something to be said for the park staff handling that situation the way they did -- with someone less stable, if embarrassed too much they might dig their heels in and gain even more weight out of self-pity or anger. I'm so happy to see you did the work and can enjoy the fruits of your labor with your loved ones!!

      @LordTzeentch 5 місяців тому +55

@@peachy_lili honestly they did an amazing job, they were slightly pushing down the safety bars to see if it will close and when it didn’t she just said “you don’t want to go on the ride? Because you can get off if you want?” she made it as though I changed my mind and it was very clever and made me think that whatever the theme park was paying her it weren’t enough. She also kept saying “So sorry” and I just said “it’s not your fault, thank you”. It was the look on my partners face, that look of embarrassment for me and disappointment that we couldn’t do it together that made me think “I never want to see that look again because of my choices”.
I feel a lot better though, not just confidence. I rarely nap now, I can control my binge eating a lot more, I don’t have a chronic back injury anymore from weight loss and correct lifting techniques from the gym. It’s just not worth hating myself anymore when the world can do that for me 😆.

Honestly the park hoppers are just going around, enjoying themselves, and telling other people "So I didn't fit into this ride at this park" so that other people don't make the experience of standing in line only to have to walk of shame their way out of there. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Good for them.
And thank you for your advice where you said that you shouldn't cut out all the food you like (even though it might be a good idea to cut out certain food that triggers binges). seriously! I lost about 30 pounds (then regained back 10 when I had to stop biking to work, for a total net loss of 20 pounds but yanno what, it landed me in a healthy weight range, so I am trying to choose not to care), and it never worked for me to try to do every little thing all at once.
I started by putting a single tomato slice into my morning breakfast sandwich. This helped me begin to eat more vegetables (or savory fruit, if we are going to get technical.) Then, I realized the tomatoes were going bad since I wasn't eating enough, so I started adding them to my beans and rice mixtures as well. From there, my vegetable intake kinda snowballed.
Then I realized I lived close enough to work to bike, so I started biking the 3 miles to work every day.
I also started eating 1 less cookie a day while also keeping less cookies in the house, as they were a binge trigger food.
Small changes over time just kinda snowballed. My coworkers were amazed and wanted to know my secret. When I told them how I did it, I would watch the hopeful looks on their faces crumble. No one wanted to start eating one less cookie a day, or start adding vegetables to their food, or park in the parking spot as far from the door as possible to get more steps in.... they just wanted to like, go keto or something.

It can also cause other issues as well depending on how and how long you do it. Our bodies do react negatively to fasting and it can cause problems for your metabolism long term if you keep having fasting periods that are too long.
When I had Ana I fasted after I had a "bad" eating day for years and it destroyed my metabolism and caused serious hormone imbalances. My doctor warned that those issue can happen to anyone who does fasting incorrectly. And even now in recovery they highly discourage me doing Intermediate Fasting in any style that deeper than 16:8 because of the damage it can cause.

Then a couple of table spoons of broth, then a bite of chicken, and now I'm on about half a chicken breast 2-3 times a week. My joints and skin were really bad, and if I go lower carb for the thyroid and ovaries, it just won't be enough food, especially because as much as I like dairy, it goes not like me. Making small changes is the way to go. Slow and steady wins the race. I lost over 20lbs very slowly in about a year and have kept it all off for 2 years now. My small changes have morphed into lifestyle changes and that’s the only way you won’t feel like you are depriving yourself. I saw someone mention “eat what you want and add what you need” and that’s really been key for me. Say I really want some pizza but don’t want to go crazy and eat the 6 slices I would normally consume… instead I’ll take 2 and add a salad and a side of veggies. These people telling this woman to just cut out everything and laughing at her for eating Panda Express are just awful. She stayed in a calorie deficit and I’m assuming isn’t feeling deprived. She’s much more likely to lose weight and keep it off by doing it this way. Good for her! And good for you Michelle for always being so realistic and uplifting in your videos!

Nothing pleases me more than seeing roly-poly dumpling men who are “tough” and “edgy” immediately tuck their tail to run when called out so thoroughly. Well done ladies

Thank you for addressing the comments about how she wasn’t doing every single step when she started to change her diet. When I first decided I needed to change my diet because of my PCOS, all of the different changes were overwhelming and it made me put it off. Until I realized I could change little by little, so when I tried again, I started choosing just one thing to change about my diet from the list and stick with that for a while until it became normal and I went and chose another option. I still haven’t changed everything, but I’m better now than if I would’ve tried to change every single thing and follow every single rule all at the same time.

Union! Union! Mini Michelle needs to get paid and also have a spa day and vacation day at Disney!! Also, I like the Disney vlogs, please add more because I've never been there yet and someday when I finally get to go I want to be able to make a conscientious decision, especially on what tastes good and what isn't worth the money. Your vlogs are really helpful for that.

The crazy thing is that if they just did portion control, they would lose mad weight. As a guy who also goes to theme parks quite often, the calorie burn is crazy. The 5 to 10 mile walks, climbing stairs, dragging your belongings everywhere.
If they went that route, yeah, they might lose the fat acceptance group, But the fitness groups in park sponsorships would flock to them.

Oh wow interesting point. Even if some did that in the group and not all they could show how they support the friend. It woukd be an interesting progression. Michelle's thoughts?

As someone who has lost 40lbs, small steps are the way to go. I once tried to lose weight by eating a bowl of couscous a day and failed miserably and blamed my lack of willpower. Then I made small changes to my diet and have managed to maintain keeping the weight off - even if I have a "bad week", my body goes back to my current weight because those small changes have become habits.

I think it’s really nice to see vlogs where people aren’t just filling their day with food, it makes it seem like a very normal/achievable thing, especially for bingers (like myself), like when I’d go on holiday before my maintenance would go on holiday too but this year I managed to have very normal meals and could still have a few treats 😊

The park hoppers are genuinely very nice content creators who are definitely making a helpful service for overweight people. I do have a slight issue with their series called "if I fits, I sits" - which is them not checking if they fit in rides, but if they fit in Disney's restaurant chairs! They then proceed to always order huge amounts of food, no doubt contributing to their weight. If they skipped these sit down calorie fests and just did the rides, they would likely lose a lot of weight from the step counts at Disney (they're no joke!)

Right. I keep equating an exercise/wellness journey like riding a bike. If you pull that bike out from storage, whether it's been a few months or years, you aren't going to jump right on it and go on the Tour de France. You're going to do maintenance, maybe get some new parts, and take a test ride down the block.

I have somewhat of a food addiction and tend to binge on certain foods and I've managed to lose almost 30 pounds walking and being more mindful of my intake, avoiding cutting anything out to avoid feeling deprived. I cut everything out the first time I lost weight (ended up with ana) and it reversed to binging because my body was deprived. I think the woman's WIE was fine for starting out.

I love what you said about making tiny steps, bartering w/ yourself to make those small steps, and it really getting you to a big change in the end. I'm currently in that process, not w/ food but another bad habit, and I realized (and so have my family members) that the change in me over the past two years is night & day. Anyone who's struggling: small steps are a great way to go, rather than those crazy 'just don't eat, complement water w/ a cigarette' approach that the commenter had.

I’m really glad you responded to those comments about cutting out food and eating at restaurants and seasoning on food. Let’s bffr. It’s easier to get fast food when working full time and it’s about making one decision at a time. I am currently at one take out a week but sometimes I fall off after a stressful day. Sometimes successful diets start with just moderation.

I think when you post what you eat for people who do frequent Disney more than once a year, it is very refreshing for them. It shows that you don't have to only eat food from the park, you don't have to spend SO MUCH money, and you can make healthier choices while enjoying a fun filled day / vacation.
