Voce impareggiabile, tecnica incredibile, interpretazione straordinaria. Naturalmente, quando morirà (speriamo il più tardi possibile), lo ricorderanno solo i melomani, non ci sarà nemmeno una riga sui giornali... (e da persona modesta e umile qual'è, il Maestro Giacomini forse preferisce così). Artista e uomo fuori catalogo.
Giacomini murió este año 2021, en Julio, a la edad de 80 años. Había nacido en Septiembre de 1940;;; por 2 meses no cumplió 81. La información no dice que haya fallecido por el covid. -- Yo soy un ADMIRADOR de Giacomini, me dió mucha tristeza cuando oí la noticia de su muerte el 28 de Julio de 2021 en Italia. Me apasiona su voz varonil, dramática, recia y heroica. Dios lo tiene en la GLORIA.
Condivido tutto caro Enrico. Ho 72 anni e da adolescente ascoltavo i 33 giri della Decca, quasi tutti incisi da Del Monaco con Renata Tebaldi. Credevo fosse solo lui " la Voce ". In effetti il suo Otello credo abbia tutt'ora pochi rivali, ma Giacomini mi ha fatto conoscere la totalità della voce, come timbrica, plasticità, recitazione vocale. Posso timidamente affermare che, un poco, ha "smontato" il mio idolo. Non è bene fare paragoni troppo cavillosi ( ho potuto sentire nella mia Parma una Tosca indimenticabile con Corelli) perché ogni grande cantante ha il proprio campo di elezione. Ma Giacomini sapeva esprimere in modo grandioso tutto il panorama lirico. Ce lo vede Del Monaco in Boheme ? O Pavarotti in Otello ? È stato unico in ogni opera.
E hai avuto ragione... Ma soprattutto per chi lo ha ascoltato anche dal vivo, e io sono fra i fortunati, rimarrà un ricordo incancellabile.
Questo signore quest'anno compie 70 anni e ha ancora una voce completissima e canta ancora DA TENORE cosa ke il caro Domingo, anke avendo 1 anno in meno di lui, non fa già un 6-7 anni... Questi ruoli li ha abbandonati dal repertorio 10 anni fa...E purtroppo viene anke osannato e visto cm un genio..... Ma io dico ke i veri tenori sono questi xkè cantano sempre allo stesso modo anke dopo 50 anni..... GRANDISSIMO GIACOMINI!!!!!!!!!!

70 años y sigue cantando así, creo que muy pocos con 10 años menos pueden presumir de eso, gigante maestro Giacomini, es obvío que esa voz siempre ha seguido acompañada de mucha constancia y disciplina, eso no es solo talento, que Dios lo bendiga maestro.

God, this man is amazing!!! I had a great compliment from a great master teacher that said Giacomini's voice and mine are very similar. I can never amount to what this man is though!

А я бы поучился у Маэстро. Мой случай поисков голоса чем-то его мучения напоминает. Слушал на днях запись Д. Д. где тому 32 года, лишний раз в этом убедился. У него сложная гормональная конституция, которая поздно оформилась окончательно. Это тоже влияет на голос, на пение. My first La fanciulla was in Dallas in the late 80's with Giacomini. The conductor was my boss Maestro Nicolo Rescigno and my teacher was Roberto Benaglio. No one can ever imagine what it was like to be in the same room with that voice. I am happy to see this clip because I moved to Europe and lost track. He was so sweet and seemed so aplogetic. I got to experience him in Il Trovatore but I wasn't playing the piano for that show. Stunning!
He told us that he was so nervous when he sang because the sound inside his head was so ugly. Act II curtain was delayed twice because he was vomiting from nerves. These artists are so rare and we must love them all we can while we are with them. Our treasures!

He is 70 here! in their primes they are evenly matched. Giacomini with a more covered sound, MDM with a shouty sound. Individual tastes are all that can define the better of the two!

Beeindruckend ist das schon, schön aber gewiss nicht.
It looks as if Philippe Bach knows how this aria is supposed to move forward. He’s trying, but watch the orchestra: they’re all playing a full second after his beat which is ruinous to huge, dramatic voices. They certainly ruin THIS performance, and should stick to orchestral repertoire. Their operatic playing is pathetic. Conductors to this day allow players to get away with “behind the beat” playing in opera and yet everyone wonders why there are no more Giacominis, Corellis, DelMonacos, or Martinellis. It’s because there are no more Toscaninis, Serafins, Eredes or Clevas.

certo è che questa è una coppia male assortita. Tonio pare un tenorino anzichè un baritono e Canio sembra un baritono con oramai non molto controllo della propria voce mentre, fino a pochi anni fa ,, Giacomini era una meraviglia.
mi domando perchè ci si riduca a volere ancora ostinatamente cantare quando si potrebbe invece solo stare a godere dei bei ricordi accumulati nel tempo in cui la voce era magnifica e quasi perfetta
. poi v'è da notare che i cantanti paiono microfonati e certo Giacomini non ha mai avuto bisogno di microfoni perchè la sua grande voce da tenore drammatico arrivasse nelle platee.
ma , purtroppo, oramai così si usa fare in tutti i teatri e nelle sale da concerto e noi si subisce......

I would say the opposite!
Giacomini is trying to sing in the way most other tenors do, for some reason both in volume and timing the orchestra failed and gave him a hard time.

I think some of the Musicians took to self-conducting as the conductor continued to signal them too early.
not a good job at all form the conductor. maybe his first time with vocalists?
Must say though, Conducting is a difficult job.
