  • Hello and welcome to the painting wrap up walk around episode of Missle industries crusty XC 351 Cleveland wagon project. This episode we tie up some loose ends and step back and admire the work completed so far. Though I must confess choosing to paint did come about because I had attempted to start the exhaust system part of this project thinking it would be something easy to knock out.
It turns out that it wasn't and now dear viewer I'm asking for those of you that have installed your own tri y headers into your air and steer column change auto car to tell me your secrets so that I may find a way to get my own set of no name second hand headers into my Crusty Wagon without barking all the skin off my knuckle, tossing my toys out of the cot or tipping the car on top of me in a fit of frustrated rage.

I put extractors on my Cleveland in my FD, you need to jack the front end up pretty high high enough to manoeuvre the extractors into position so the ends dont foul on the ground. I did this with the drivers side i dont remember having any issues with the passenger side though.
    Good luck👍

Hi.Have only done Xy Falcons. With those I’ve put the drivers side in before the engine, then passenger side in from underneath. You may be able to get the drivers side in from underneath if you lift the engine slightly.I had to modify the column auto linkages to go around the extractors.Good luck.

I feel yes bro. My first extractors, Genie brand, I bought second hand with the dual exhaust in the XB Hardtop.. well I decided to get any exhaust place to fit them and about 4 or 5 hours later, they were on and they had a very hard time doing it, they had to raise the engine I think on the drivers side. I have power steering and had aircon at the time. The other times they have been disconnected, was when the engine was out. My new set was installed when I was overseas by a place that does these all the time.
Rear view mirror in my Hardtop fell off and it was only sitting in the shed. Stayed on for maybe a year. I think I used the permatex, so that needs doing again but this time I'll make sure it cures in the sun on a high UV day.
Check your upper arm bushes while you have the front end apart.

I had a ford falcon XC. Year 1978 wagon. With a 302 V8. Best car that ever had.
