Paroma Neotia is a 20 year old student of Film Studies at New York University. She is an old-school romantic, at heart, which has inspired her to write stories and create films that are Bollywood but with her own creative twist. 'Aatish' is her debut short film as a writer and director.
The film revolves around the life of a 22 year old boy called Aatish who is short tempered, irritable and suffers from depression. A constant occurence of setbacks and heartbreaks while trying to unsuccessfully pick himself up have made him completely lose hope in life. At one point, right when he is about to give up, hope finds a way back into his life on the occasion of Diwali.

A perfect definition of inspiring.. Vikram sir was amazing...and the whole cast was wonderful...
i think people commenting dont know the word ''depression''. Thats why people are so insensitive towards those people who are actually suffering from it. You dont need a car to overcome depression, if your self respect is hurt at such a young age, you sometimes cant come out of it.
We need such amazing actors with huge potential 👌

Firstly, being a therapist; I would like to suggest that this is not how therapists function. They don't preach or advise....secondly, when such transference of emotions happen, the therapists don't ask the CLIENT ( and not patient: the person is not sick) to leave. they rather work on the emotions and make them approach life realistically ...
while I don't think I am the right person to comment on the acting, cameo and so on...I blv I loved the way words have been used in the script, but I blv a better research into the topic would have made it more concrete.
and being a therapist, I also approve the there could be a lot of things that might work for a person...whatever works for a person. ..I appreciate the fresh concept of making a game of cards as a way that helped the person...
moreover, I really liked the acting of the actor. :)
Since everyone is gushing about it, I thought I should share a few points.
1. Cinematography: 10/10
2. Script: 6/10
3. Acting: the lead: 8/10, the two girls, not so much 4/10 each.
4. Costumes and make up: Too much make up on girls --quite strange for the therapist to be soooo made up, not professional.
Now how the treatment of the film was.
5: How real could this be, situations, culture---3/10.
Drinking of Diwali is a no-no for most decent families. Where is his family? is he cut off from them? why is he alone on Diwali and why in the world is there a gathering like it is any party. IT IS DIWALI, to be celebrated with friends. We welcome lakshmi on this day, not drown ourselves in booze and then gamble away money.
Culturally many things shown are wrong. And there were many many flaws in the script.
What was the best was cinematography and colors. But I would say this is a lost opportunity, (PS: the lead was a weak person and he certainly did not look happy in the last scene, did not look hopeful)
So basically if the person is not sick. And therapists do not advise - why the fuck do people waste money on you quacks?
