    I always liked Pingu as a child, but for most people, it’s seemed to be least remembered by many people of my generation nowadays. I kinda agree with you on Pingu’s problems, because with having Autism myself, there are many things in my life, where sometimes I sometimes feel like the odd one out, because many people would sideline me or sometimes see myself lash out or just cry out and feel isolated and be alone and I don’t want to feel like I belong here. Anyway, this series was enjoyable and I never really realised the problems as a kid, but now watching it now, I feel that why they heck did I watch the show and haven’t realised how much sometimes Pingu was related to me in some ways, despite that I am a lot more calmer than I used to be, even though I feel like crying out my problems, rather than be angry or violent to people.

    Awwww. There’s my childhood :3
    One of my favorite episodes was the one where Pingo helps out a poor old man by fixing his house and gathering food for him. It’s really sweet :3

    I love this show as a kid. Bringing up Pingu having a disability makes sense and hey I like it when shows have a character that has autism when they are done right and not the butt of the joke. Funny enough this show really did well in Japan and had even games for the ps1 and game boy. Then again Japan loves cute looking characters so it make sense really. Funny thing is I swear when I was younger I saw a new version of that series in cgi but was still set in the south pole and such.

    I will say this, I love Pingu and I still enjoy the show, and I respect your opinion on the character.
    As someone who has autism I could relate to Pingu and his friends as I loved animals and I found Pingu to be very special. And I do wish Pingu was confirmed being autistic. Overall I still enjoy Pingu as I enjoy penguins and I wouldn't mind seeing this lil trouble maker for years to come! He's just so adorable!
    Say, do u plan on reviewing his movie, Pingu at the wedding party and new reboot, Pingu in the city?

    Just thought I’d share a lil’ memory when I watched bob the builders a Christmas to remember as a kid back in......2003 I think I remember feeling a little mystified and a little creeped out at the scene where Tom (bobs twin brother who lives in the arctic) gets side tracked by having to save a deer who was about to fall off a cliff and in the process ends of missing the boat that was suppose to take him home to bobs Christmas party. It’s just how it all played out where it’s late at night you can see the northern lights and the boat is depicted as this little square with a light on the back going off into the distance I dunno stuff to do with snow and ice sort of creeped me out lightly as a kid especially in video games where snowy levels would often have creepy sounding music. but yeah to this day I still have a lot of weird dreams and sometimes even nightmares about the programs I watched as a youngster XD like Thomas, pingu, the teletubbies, tugs and what not ^^

    @ToastedAlmond98 5 років тому +2

    With regards to the censorship, it was actually the other way round, as far as the British release was concerned. Let me explain:
    - When the BBC got the TV/video rights to Pingu in 1991, they saw fit to make small cuts to certain episodes, but leave just enough for audiences to still understand what was going on (i.e. the 'pissing on the floor' scene was still shown, albeit cut down). They also cut scenes where Pingu and others did things that they thought children might imitate (hiding in cupboards, lighting stoves, etc.). Where such cuts couldn't be made without adversely affecting the rest of the episode, the BBC simply didn't air those episodes (Pingu's Dream being the best known, although Pingu and the Mother Bird from the third season was also never shown, for unknown reasons).
    - In 1995, the Pygos Group remastered all episodes that'd been made prior to that year, with new music and partly redone dialogue (possibly for consistency with episodes made after that point). Obviously they had access to the original masters, which were uncut. It was these remastered episodes that were included in any overseas sales made after 1995. Those made before, like Britain and Japan, continued to broadcast the originals.
    - Therefore, when HIT Entertainment got the rights to Pingu in 2001, it was the remastered, uncut versions that they acquired, and therefore used when distributing the series. The remasters were not seen or heard of until the first DVD release in 2003, giving rise to the misconception that HIT themselves were responsible for the remastering.
    - Interestingly, even as HIT was releasing the remastered episodes, the BBC continued to broadcast the originals on CBeebies, alongside the HIT-produced episodes, as late as 2015!
