Actually how cool would it be if Sir David Jason voiced Greenback in the reboot series? No offence to the actual voice actor, he did pretty good, but i think it would've been cool to see Sir David Jason do something in the Danger Mouse reboot.
This was actually really in-depth and detailed! One question, though: Which would you say is the better Danger Mouse between the original and the reboot, or are you making a separate video about that later?
It's hard to say which I prefer, since I feel that the original has the better voice acting and is the more ambitious, but the new series has the better writing and animation
Why didn't you mention that Duckula is basically Doctor Who with vampire ducks ? I mean the title character coms back via regeneration, so he is, as the show puts it, his own father, and the Castle can randomly teleport.
When I was a pre-teen/young teen, Nickelodeon ran You Can't Do That On Television and Danger Mouse back-to-back--in the late afternoon and again in the early evening. These probably laid the groundwork for my later love of Monty Python--YCDTOTV for its anarchic sketch comedy and DM for its British humor.
One thing I’m upset about is that Jeopardy Mouse COULD have DM’s Girlfriend. I don’t like DM and the Professor as a couple. It just doesn’t work for me. I would prefer Jeopardy Mouse over the Professor any day. I just don’t like the relationship of DM and the professor. The reason for this is because the professor is just too hard on him. Fair he keeps breaking her stuff but that’s the main reason why I don’t like it. That relationship does not go well with me at all for a romantic relationship.
I completely agree with this. I also couldn’t get on with Danger Mouse and Professor Squawkencluck being a couple, they were more like siblings who annoyed each other. That’s one of the things that I dislike about the rebooted series, which is otherwise quite good.
For all the pontification over dodgy Italian accents, they do send up British ones and a whole host of others. You can't apply the modern lens to everything. I am so lucky I grew up in the 80s.
The whole deal with DM's left eye was very inconsistent and it seems like they couldn't make their mind up to whether he's actually lost an eye or not in the classic series. Episodes like World Of Machines and 4 Tasks Of Danger Mouse made it seem he has lost an eye as the former shows him getting x ray electrocuted and it shows his skull only eye socket, the latter has a blink and you'll miss it moment where he's yanked off screen and his eye patch comes off you can see he's just got a single black dot instead of a proper yellow eye underneath. But then there's episodes like Custard and Crumhorn Strikes Back which goes with his eye is fine as where once again he gets electrocuted in both episodes and shows he has two eyes, I think there was also another episode which I don't remember which one exactly where he briefly wore the eye patch on the wrong eye and his eye is completely fine. The reboot on the other hand seems to actually go with there is something up with his eye but its never made clear as to what is wrong with it. Also there was a Professor Squawkencluck in the classic series but that character was a male German mole. Though I believe it was confirmed the reboot Squawkencluck is the niece of the classic one (how that works when one's a chicken and the other is a mole is anyone's guess)
I like the reboot too! I see it as more of a follow up than just a reboot, like how I see the controversial Powerpuff Girls reboot as more like a follow up. One thing I can say that is flawed about it though is that they made Danger Mouse cockier and more egotistical for some reason.
I never really watched Powerpuff Girls myself, I didn't have Cartoon Network growing up, so I never got a chance to watch it, I've only seen bits here and there
This show is similar to mine just for younger people and with animals since mine is a parody of James Bond (other than Star Wars Star Trek He man and Ghostbusters)
To be fair Mario and Luigi are heroes while Stiletto is evil. I guess when a character is stereotyped in a heroic/positive way its less likely to cause offence then a character who is stereotyped in a negative/villainous way.
Also, my favourite moment in Danger Mouse is when the DangerNav tells them to drive forward, then reverse, then loop the loop, then admit the map is wrong and blows up.
well this review did not age well 7 years later. barbones windows movie maker editing and its cringe inducingly obvious you are trying to put on an overly enthusiastic chauvinistic act for the camera that just comes off as really forced and corny in its delivery. compared to the more well polished video review channels with snappier pacing and more down to earth and earnest hosts, this will forever remain a relic of a bygone age were everyone was trying to ride off the coattails of the nostalgia critic. but what do i know, im an overzealous buzzkill American. :3
