_Pingu In the City_ is pretty much of a decent revival of the original. But it's very impressive how the show stay faithful to the stop motion style despite being in a CGI format.
It's pretty much like the Lego Movie. Despite looking like it was made in stop motion, the film's actually made with incredibly realistic CGI. It's pretty stunning when you think about it.
At the end of the first pingu vhs, and the original airing of that episode, they played that song because the British ice skating team won gold at the 1988 Olympics which was when that episode aired. I first found this out on a 40 second UA-cam video clip of that scene so I'm just spreading the word.
Pingu was a show I underestimated as an adult. A couple of years ago, I needed to do a Pingu video, purely as filler to set up a Thomas and Friends review. In order to prepare for the review, I went back and rewatched the first season of Pingu, and it was the most fun I had had with a preschool show in decades. The review ended up being 4 minutes long, but it went from being nothing but filler to one of my favourite reviews I've ever made purely because of how much I enjoyed rewatching the series. I cannot praise it enough. Also, buddy, I hear your fanbase is a giant pain when they badger you with review requests. I'll just say this, unless you think they have a good idea, you just do you, and what feels right for you. They're your views, you have to put the work in, you know what fits best for your next video, in order to bring out the passion and creativity. They shouldn't be harassing you just because you said no to a particular review subject. You just do what you wish to do. If they complain, that's not your problem.
I have no idea why the original show was cancelled by HiT Entertainment and the BBC in 2006. This is the same thing I have with how the original Bob the Builder series ended. Both shows were cancelled without a reason or explanation as to why both were cancelled. And I am already disappointed that the revival series only lasted until 2019. Proving the high quality of Mattel's reboots was an actual one-off thing. Mattel was doing so great with Pingu in terms of the revival series. Maybe, I could be guessing it is how Mattel treats other properties. Showing no care about what they do or what they market and care more about immediate returns. What a sad life it is to be a Pingu fan.
I like the original versions way better from my younger childhood, and missing it on VHS, too. Rest in peace to Carlo Bonomi. (1937 - 2022) He will always be the best voice of Pingu there is. Nice thoughts, by the way, Mr. Williams, and a pleasure to meet you, too.
I really can't wait for this! I recently reviewed a pingu vhs on my channel and pingu is so much more funny than I remember. So I can't wait to hear your opinions on it.
I can totally relate to Pingu, I was just like him as a child. My parents told me off when I would do something bad and had to face some punishments, in the end, I’ve grown up to be a chill guy with a little bit of common sense. My dad was a little unsure about Pingu because of the Italian gibberish performed by Carlo Bonomi, it actually taught me a lot of good morals like how to deal with the doctors, how to use the bathroom correctly, and to be caring to others and not be an asshole.
As a fellow Pingu connoisseur, I gotta say; this is a great analysis of the series. I’ll admit, while I don’t do as much Pingu videos as I used to (since my Pingu Dubs series is over), I still have a strong passion for the entire series, including Pingu and the City and yes, even The Pingu Show. I still love doing videos on it, and this captures my love for the series to a T. Well played. Also, if you’re not too keen on Pingu in the City, just do what I do: consider it non-canon.

And I haven't seen much of Pingu in the City, but I thought it was nice. And I didn't mind The Pingu Show, but I can understand how you feel about it.
Pingu in the City was actually directed by Naomi Iwata, the man behind certain CGI anime like Pecola (which also stars an anthropomorphic penguin), Gregory Horror Show, and Midnight Horror School. They do have a bit of a Japanese flare to them, but I still recommend checking them out. Especially Gregory Horror Show for its surrealism and dark humor.

Hey, James? Have you heard of a Netflix show called Super Monsters? I think that, given your content for videos, that it would be interesting to see you do an examination of it. I personally think that the show is amazing, with vibrant and colourful visuals, fictional cartoonish things that would please the kids, strong life lessons and morals to follow, and an all star line-up of voice talent working on the show. If you wanna check it out sometime, I highly recommend it.
Honestly, when it came to punishments as a child... They were less of reasonable punishments, and what Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation would call "cock-up cascades"; That being unduly and continuously punished for making a mistake. And I can tell you... The amount of times my dad (or other like-minded types I was unfortunate enough to be in the care of) had either no patience with me when I slipped up in any way, or pretty much yelled at me pretty much came across more like he was constantly annoyed by me, rather than actually taking care of me like a parent would. Which is a good thing my mother knew how to getter take care of a child like me.
The reason why the animation changed was because the creator, Otmar Gutmann who animated most of season 2 died when the episode was being made, as a result his group had to animate the rest of the season. RIP Otmar 1937-1993
I remember watching pingu with my little brother and i remember enjoying it despite not knowing anything the characters say, but what makes it funny is the random things that pingu does that gets him in trouble 😂

And the fast paced episodes were amazing (especially Pingu and the Doorbell).

I always loved the way that Pingu's dad's snowmobile was basically the family car in one episode and Postman Pat's delivery van in the next. I suppose that technically means Pingu is the Julian Clifton of Antarctica...
I feel like the reason for why the first two seasons were redubbed was possibly to keep consistency with Seasons 3 and 4, but if that was the case, that'd be a super strange reason if i'm honest
Speaking of that, imagine if the first 2 seasons of Thomas & Friends were redubbed by Michael Angelis along with the music being reworked to be more consistent with Season 3... In fact, that will be interesting to see (even though I know it’ll never happen).

I honestly think that show is fucking worse than Mike the Knight!
6:25 cracks me up!
@@TheDeonProductionsChannel That's what they did with George Carlin now that I think about it.
12:44
Is it sad that I used to own that DVD?
You really like the original series, and have a soft spot for Seasons 5 and 6.
Fact: Pingu's original name was Hugo.
:OOO
That’s my dog’s name
Hugo: *exists*
Trick film studios: "Lets change that, and don't use it again.
Also trick film studios: "hmmmmmmmmmm, what should we call pingu's friend.
random person: "what about we combined Hugo and pingu and make 'pingo'."
Trick films studios: "no way!!!."
Also trick films studios: "i have an idea, what about we combined Hugo and pingo."
Random person: "😑 dude."
I used to watch pingu soo much when I was little and I still do lol 😂☺️
6:48 OH GOD! WHAT IS THAT?

Hey James A Williams what do you think your next video will be another video of you reading a Railway series story you reacting to commercials or you rewatching shows from your childhood
I totally get what you mean about them changing the sound effects, voices and music for no apparent reason! They removed that song: "hand in hand" in the "redubed" version!
They changed the music to avoid copyright strikes in some cases.
15:57 that reminds me of Pocoyo
Pocoyo was talking to an offscreen Stephen Fry, just like Charlie Bear was talking to an offscreen James Corden.
@@pervertedstoner69reborn70 And Pepee is talking to Shushuu
Don’t worry James hopefully the pingu review will be your last review on a children show then you can have a nice cup of tea and rest😇
17:09 that’s a funny voice
17:09 (in a deep angry voice) Baby Jake! 😂😂😂
What happened to your Equestria Girls adaptation series?
I want to ask you a question. Since you can’t use video pad any more what other video editor do you use with iMovie
Hey James you included my comment in the video you're awesome
May I ask you a question.. How come you didn't talk about the theme song?
