Did you ever find anything better?
I have the same question on its stability.
See comment below. I hope I addressed all of your concerns.
I have a question about this light-stand. I see that you’re using a fairly large studio-strobe for your test, is the stand sturdy enough to use it often with such a large modifier? I read one review that claimed it was wobbly. If it’s just flexible, but holds, I’d be happy with it. It looks amazing.
The stand is quite sturdy. With the extendable legs, you can get a really wide base, which improves stability. I wanted to show a heavy strobe, so anything lighter will be much more acceptable. I also like how the legs adjust for differing grades or to place one leg on a set of stairs. This keeps my unit vertical and eliminates lean, which would make the entire assembly (stand, strobe and modifier) more unstable.
I use the Interfit S1 and a large softbox regularly. As with any setup, in high winds, you will create a sail. I sandbag,, just to be extra sure my equipment doesn't fall down. I want a stand that is easily transportable with my equipment and sturdy. This has been the best mix of sturdy and lightweight. Carrying a heavy ass stand would defeat the purpose of being mobile.
David Hakamaki actually I ended up buying one and am so impressed with it. Your video helped me make my decision. Thanks.
