I recently got to drive a new gen E class coupe, boy was I impressed! The last gen with the smaller C class body was just too small for my tastes. But this new E class Wow! Really nice car!

8:30 you don't need to get to your phone in this car bez it can read or send messages for you, they made this design so you dont get destructed by your phone i think it's smart interior design.

Nice review Sam. I went with a lease on the 2018 M550i. 80 grand with better performance and all the luxury. 90 grand for an underpowered v6 engine is a terrible value IMO.
Value equations are typically figured against comparable cars. The M550i is a sedan, not a convertible and therefore in an entirely different pricing structure. The closest comparable BMW convertible here is either a 4 or 6 series, the 4 smaller and less expensive, the 6 slightly upmarket and more. A 5-series sedan of any level isn't a competitor here.
TestDrivenTV True, but even the M4 convertible is cheaper with a 425 hp v6. Mercedes are ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Just look at the e300 sedan. A 70 grand plus car with a very underpowered 4-cylinder engine... embarrassing.
An M4 convertible you would compare to a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG convertible, not the E-Class of any level. There you might find closer comparative pricing. To correct you, NO BMW comes with a V6. They have an inline six.
TestDrivenTV I stand corrected about the v6, last I checked v or straight 6 cylinders is still 6 cylinders. You’re in my territory now, I’m a car guy. The 2018 m4 comes base with 425hp. The one with the competition package comes with 444, son. The convertible e400 is woefully overpriced for what you get. I wouldn’t pay 80 grand for a C anything. AMG means jack shit today. I would take the convertible 80 grand m4 over the 90 grand convertible e400 any day.
Everyone has their preferences. We are simply pointing out your comparisons are not apples to apples in terms of making a value assessment, by comparing models from different body styles, sizes and trim ranges from what we do when we score in our evaluations.

The interior screams "luxury". Love it. The exterior...meh. It looks too sporty. To me, if you want a sporty German luxury vehicle, you buy a BMW. If you want a classy, elegant German luxury car, you get a Mercedes. Mercedes is trying too hard to be sporty over the last few years and I do not like the aggressive faces and wheel designs on their cars now. Feels like Mercedes is trying to be more like BMW and I don't like that at all.
The lower front fascia is really off putting.
