Which controversial SNL sketch do you think crossed the line?
None because it's called Comedy that's what it's supposed to be!!! 🙄
The sketch where Chevy Chase list offs words to Richard Prior.
None cause it's comedy
LOVE YOU WATCHMOJO
I still like your guys channel but I'll say it again you guys are drinking the Kool aid
Isn’t the whole point of SNL is to make parodies of everything and is literally meant to offend people. Or did people just forget that’s the point of the show?
That intro says it all. "Where do you draw the line". With comedy you don't its subjective just because you find it offensive or unfunny dosnt mean it isn't funny.
There something called common sense.
There are limits
@@barrackobama5470 dude there's things you can't make fun of. Show some respect.
There's limits.
And not ment to offend people. It to make people laugh. Smh
@@mannycampos6885 But just because you are offend by it, dosnt mean it isn't funny. I get where you are coming from. But comedy is a coping mechanism for some, they need to laugh to help them get over it, look at Pete davidson his dad died in 9/11, dude has a lot of jokes about it, people get offend by them but Pete dosnt I'm sure it helps him in some fucked up way.
“Failed to stick the landing” no, kiss me I’m Irish is one of the best snl sketches of all time, Hader was magnificent.
Absolutely agree.
100% agree. Im Irish and thats one of my favourite snl sketches, the aer lingus one isn't offensive its just shite.
Was shite 😂
Brilliant sketch
Darren Sheridan your parents irish??? And related?
“Mama can smoke that chunky white crunch anywhere” is honestly fkn hilarious 😂
Kate McKinnon is a national treasure.
"If the roles had been reversed" - That is part of the point in getting people to talk about the double standards that exist
That heroin commercial is hilarious and so is the meth one lol
Back in the 90s there was a meth PSA that was way better than the e-myth commercial from SNL. It had its own theme song and everything
I'm a recovering heroin and meth addict. And I thought they were hilarious commercials. They are JOKES people. Do I think the epidemic is funny. No. I was part of it and I really messed my life up. But now that I've gotten clean and built a good life for myself, I can laugh at a joke about that stuff. SNL is supposed to joke about uncomfortable things. 🤦🏻♀️
@@TA_Plus_Hemi I will have to check that out. I remember watching PSA as a kid and laughing so hard. I know they were being serious but I couldn't help myself.
11:41 The sketch wouldn’t even make sense with the genders reversed. The whole point is to criticize the way we treat sexual assault on males.
I wonder how many people understood that.
@@scottcharney1091 Apparently not most of them.
It was also a cheap rip off of one of south parks best episodes.
@@grog3514 not really, I mean the jokes started after Mary Kay Latourneau. I think everyone and their mother have made a similar joke.
Satire always runs the risk of just being the thing it’s trying to imitate if it is done poorly. I can’t really find a place in that sketch where the joke isn’t just “haha this is awesome for him,” so if the sketch is meant to criticize those tropes it falls quite short of the goal.
It’s really just a bad sketch, which is fine, SNL has plenty of them.
Garret Morris still cracks me up. These were some of my favorite skits. People are too sensitive and need to learn to laugh at themselves.
Even more so, they need to learn 1. To laugh at themselves and others. 2. Realize they don't need to create national frenzies over comedy sketches or stand up. 3. We don't care what everyone's opinion is.
I used to sing that to myself sometimes. I thought it was hilarious, and I'm white.
“Yeah, I joke a lot. Sometimes it’s the only way I can open my mouth without screaming.” - Hawkeye Pierce
The same people who get offended by parodies are the same people who yell at employees for something they cant control
Sounds like Karen's
Uh huh, yeah
I ain't even high
Yes.
Welcome to the United States of the Offended, where even saying 'what? can't you take a joke?' is offensive.
@@myozbubble And then cry when they make fun of you?
The "World's Most Evil Invention" was, by far, one of the funniest skits I've ever seen. I was surprised they went that far with it, but it also showcased that there's a big difference between "cartoonish super-villainy" and *actual* villainy.
I have no idea how the rock kept a straight face throughout it
Agree 100%
That's one of the few recent sketches that was worth a damn. I love how they punched it out by throwing White Castle under the bus.
Definitely a top ten sketch, but there have been so many I’ve enjoyed the last few years: some edgy like Olive Garden or Wells Fargo or Elf on a Shelf or Frozen 2. Some gentle and sweet, like the Cha-Cha Slide at the black wedding reception. When people say SNL is no longer funny, they just haven’t looked hard enough. The original years had clunkers too. They are just forgotten.
I didn’t get it what happened? He brought out a robot and that’s all I understood.. and then they said it was controversial
Most evil invention : had me laughing my ass off so many times. Anyone who's offended misses the point that it's "evil". Yes I had those unfortunate experiences as a kid, and yes, this is a way to cope... humor has always been a way of coping for the crap we deal with in life.
I agree
The super villain convention is one of the funniest sketches in the shows history!
“Hey Epstein how ya doing?”
“I’m hanging!”
"to me the devil is a woman my own age" is funny as hell. Lmao
Adam Driver on SNL is can't miss TV. His sketch as the Oil Barron for career day is one of the best sketches ever
🤣🤣
It was hilarious
@@LudaChez he really is fucking hilarious. Awesome actor.
How easily people get offended... I laughed my ass off watching most of these sketches.
Yep, most of these aren't even that bad.
The Rape bot is fucking awesome. The Rock was the perfect choice for the part of mad scientist!
I remember watching that thai sketch it was funny
Ikr people gets offended so easily
Djesus uncrossed was friggin' awesome.
"Now I can chase the dragon so I can chase this little guy" 🤣🤣
"Most thought the show had gone too far" ... I doubt most.
More like a Handful of loud Twitter warriors .
Trey Parker and Matt Stone watching this - "Hold my beer..."
You mean "Hold Our Bears"
@@cgt3704 I iimagine each would say it in the usual sense "hold my beer". It would have to be choreographed for them to use "hold our beers" and that doesn't seem as natural and fluid.
@@debunkthejunk1 i honestly didnt get what was the joke. Sorry
@@cgt3704 lol, that's OK. I honestly did debate how to use the phrase in the plural sense. Albeit briefly.
South Park is still great after all these years.
By “most had thought the show went too far” you mean “a select few were very loud about it while everyone else liked it and didn’t care to bring it up to society”
YES!! THANK YOU!👏🏼🤣👏🏼
Or didn't mind/were not bothered and went on with their lives.
Perfecty articulated.
Exactly
YeS! A handful of really loud Twitter warriors
I love the word association skit, the ending is perfect and those who want an end to racism should love it as well; Chase’s character gets cornered by Pryor’s which leads Chase’s character to give Pryor’s the best job on the whole place.
And is that what happens in real life? Calling a black man the N word during a job interview will not end racism dummy.
90% of these weren’t even really controversial
Sketches that “cross the line” or “wouldn’t fly today” are exactly why they’re funny to begin with
Fr these are the funniest sketches
I don’t really think I buy it, either. It isn’t the topics these days that “would not fly” it’s only if the point of view is no longer looked at as correct, or the humor is no longer funny. I think the Chevy/ Garret sketch could still work for the same reasons it did then.
Adam driver is comedy gold. Glad to see him in SNL more
The Richard Pryor sketch was the most shocking for me. I watched it live in '75. Don't get me wrong, I was on the floor laughing, it was just shocking to see. It could never be done today.
I watched it live too
I love how most of these are from the current era because we can’t handle any type of comedy
The more controversial, the better. 😆
Exactly! These were funny as hell
Lmao people on my neck about me laughing at the tiger woods sketch 😂😂😂😂😂
No
Absolutely, comedy should always push the envelope
Agree! Unfortunately, people is getting so easily offended by just about anything; that is called lack of humor sense; how BORING their lives can be ? We are definitely goin backwards, by shrinking the comedy space and the area where we can laugh at just about FREAKING EVERYTHING !
To be honest, These were very tame compared to Mad TV and In Living Color.
He look...like a man....stewart! 😄😄😄
@@Creepynerdynarrations That's Ms Swan
To be fair to SNL, there's a few decades of material WatchMojo is clearly unfamiliar with.
Mad TV got away with soooo much. I'm surprised they did, honestly
@GBProductions84 oh boy those were the days...no more
That Richard Pryor sketch was priceless. I miss his humor
I used to love watching Pryor doing his skit. Man was hysterical.
This should just be called “20 Times People Forgot They Were Watching A Comedy Show”.
The Epstein one 😂 “the devil appears as a woman my own age...”
RIP Richard Pryor. Anyone unfamiliar with him needs to see clips of him. He makes that sketch massively funny.
My Dad showed me his stand up special. Pretty incredible comic.
Oh I agree!!
I've seen the rap battle between him and george carlin
That word association sketch is one of the funniest SNL ever did.
@@yougosquishnow oh I agree
i love how a guy having an affair and ruining his family is ranked higher than them literally saying the n word
well, this was in a time when people didn't go berserk at the mere uttering of the n word. Even blacks. Nowadays the speech police poke their noses into everywhere.
I love this list about snl's funniest sketches! good job MerJer!
Side effects include: it's heroin
XD dead
And considering that the painkillers that are causing all the misery are actually opiods, the sketch isn't even too far off of reality.
Lmao 🤣😂😂😂😂
It a rip off of AM Ale that I will not stand for.
Comedy is a dying art with all these softies so easily offended.
Comedy is not dying lol
@Brian Cahoon bullshit. People have always been like this.
@Brian Cahoon it sounds like you’re too young to remember things like the Hays Code. Believe me it was far more sanitized earlier. Also it wasn’t the supposed pc crowd who tried to get “Married with Children “ off the air or complained about “The Simpsons “.
@@wingedpenguin1364 my name is Anthony peter Coleman, former Private First Class, dishonorable discharge May 19, 1984
Comedy doesn't have to be offensive and rely on stereotypes. If that specific type of comedy is dying, that's a good thing and shows that our culture has evolved since the 1970's. You can still watch all the relics of that era in Adam Sandler movies.
we still say" oh canteen boy, would you like a mimosa?"
If you can illicit an emotional response, you've done your job. Keep it up SNL. Love all of us normal people. Haha
#7 "Gonna get me a shotgun" is my favorite SNL sketch, Garrett Morris was always under utilized as an actor on the show and with Peter Cook as the Director it makes great comedy.
Why does MOJO play the holier-than-thou card so often?
The Irish Dating Game sketch was fantastic.
"Failed to stick the landing" ...my arse.
I agree, literally every time they say a Sketch is to racey or failed to stick the landing, they’re so wrong
The Heroin one had me dying
It's sort of sad how many of these are my all time favorite SNL sketches
Not sad at all really
Mine too! 😂
Who watches these and gets offended? Lol
Snowflakes
I laughed on each one so far
Good point, if you don't like controversial shows then, who the heck is forcing you to watch them? For crying out loud.
People love to be recreationally outraged. It's a common hobby now. You get to be a complete bully AND feel like a hero when you are outraged.
45, for one...
These were some of the best sketches. In a world filled with so much pain and atrocities we need humor to help heal. These sketches exist because things have happened that good moral people find horrible so I think taking a bad thing and laughing at it only helps the soul. The people angry at these things just don't want to be happy.
SHOCKINGLY FUNNY. thats whats so good about. makes you think about things differently. still love it
These are now my new favorite SNL sketches of all time.
That Rosetta Stone sketch was amazing, how were people upset with that
Yeah, I thought it was less a dig at Thailand and more a dig at the pervy men.
Because they felt attacked lol, the Leslie Jones weekend update was true cringe
Thailand likes to pretend it gives a shit about the victims of the sex trade in its country, but doesn’t do anything about it. So they react badly when someone outside the country makes a joke about it/ mentions it.
The Stormy Daniels one was more cringy than controversial.
Wasn't controversial at all. Monica's three way... conversation with Saddam and Clinton was edgier.
How was it cringy? Some chick made some one liners. They do that all the time.
bbsy1 for real? Do you not understand how the word cringy is used?
I thought it was neither
I thought that was hilarious.
Djesus uncrossed is a masterpiece
Amusingly this is essentially a list of my favourite sketches.
The Heroin AM skit was so funny. Some people just can not take a joke.
Would a Male Cast Member be fired for saying the F-word?
Well, ask Charles Rocket.
You'll need a Ouija Board, of course.
Yep, it's weird that they over looked that.
Your comment is way underrated. I doff my cap to you .
I don't think it's a matter of gender, if you say the F word in open TV you'll get banned.
@@oliverf.68 that's the point they're making. Charles Rocket was fired from SNL for accidentally saying the F word. Several years later he killed himself, so yes gender wasn't an issue.
They fired a whole shitload of people then.
The Gov Paterson skits always leave me in tears!
The teacher trials are funny as hell lmao.
The child molesting robot is my favourite sketch of all time bad end but over all joke is soo funny
I remember when it first came out I showed it to EVERYBODY. You're right about the ending though, SNL for the most part, doesn't know how to end a sketch.
I love how he's so straight faced. "I win then right?"
It’s amazing how non Chalant he is about it
I thought it was funny. The point was molestation is really bad...
@@ajarfullofjoy and how “super villains” are a joke.
Djesus Uncrossed is one of my favorite skits. It might be my absolute favorite. None of these were offensive to me.
If you're groaning while you're laughing, the comedy is epic
I loved every single one of these
Gotta be honest, these are among my favorite sketches
The ISIS and SafeGlass sketches were f*cking hilarious.
Your big freaky 👏👏
Did you seriously censor yourself? Smh.
Frank Tranks you’ll get more flies with honey 🍯 than spit
Heroin PM/ Cocaine PM, was known as the most controversial SNL sketch!!
i'm just dying laughing the whole video
I swear, yall did this already, but with only 10.
They've updated and expanded Lists before.
It is that or do Another *INSERT LIST HERE* and they have to go 'See the other List.'
I feel like they're going to continue this trend, since they've expanded the list with this subject and the "Normal Pictures with Horrifying Backstories" one.
Great comment y’all lol
Living in Utah where there has been a serious issue with prescription drug abuse, I think the Heroin AM sketch is on point. I interpret it as saying “yeah this is what you look like mom in the minivan popping pills on your way to church. You’re still an addict even if it comes from the doctor.” Yeah it’s a parody but to me it’s using humor to make the connection that a lot of people refuse to see until it’s too late.
The most controversial stuff must be the funniest. Because I've seen most of these skits on UA-cam and most are some of my all time favorite skits.
#11 is one of my favorite SNL moments 😂😂
You're supposed to make fun of serious matters. Funny stuff is already fun by itself.
Ppl just can't take a joke
People are SO damn touchy these days. Easily offended. It's SNL it's a COMEDY show. Relax people and laugh a little..or a lot.
That was some of the best clips of the show ever
I saw the Canteen Boy sketch while tripping on shrooms, my friend and I still laughing about it today, and it was 30 yr ago
Republicans “democrats can’t take a joke”
Democrats “republicans can’t take a joke”
This list “neither of you can take a joke”
I’m not saying that none of them went to far I’m just saying the subjective ones land on both sides
of course none of them went too far. freedom of speech means just tat, freedom. you may not like whats said but that doesn't matter. they have a right to say what they want even if its said seriously. they run a comedy show. its not meant to be taken serious. being offended by a comedy show means theres an issue with the person offended not the show. you don't always hear things you like. its on you to overcome those issues and recognize they don't mean whats said. people can't blame the world for their being an overly sensitive bitch.
Toxxik don’t quote amendments when you don’t understand what they mean. People love doing that and it’s really annoying.
SNL does cross the line, but it is usually very rarely and when they do it was in a crap episode anyways.
Though since it’s always brought up, the difference with male and female sexual harassment is females are already seen as less dominant so it is basically bullying, but even worse. With male students it is generally felt they can get out of the situation and males supposedly like sex more, so that is why they joke about it, even though sexual harassment of either gender is just as wrong. The joke is about social standing, of course it would be frowned upon.
Democrats intolerance to jokes: a basketball
Republicans intolerance to jokes; Jupiter.
@@toxxik4933 You should go call your boss every name in the book, then when he fires you tell him "but I have freedom of speech". It doesnt mean what you think it means.
@@bbsy1 he didn't quote any amendment. But if he were thats exactly what freedom of speech means. And even slander isn't a problem when it's a parody. And you can't go too far with a joke. It's a joke. Its not serious so it shouldn't be taken seriously.
Take away from this clip: most people think most funny stuff takes it too far. Awesome!
This is basically a list of my favorite sketches
09:30 the writer of baby shark.
first laugh out loud watching this video.
I feel like ANYONE who can’t learn to laugh at a show that’s sole purpose is for COMEDY, shouldn’t even attempt to watch it.
dang, some of those were my favs!
I hope SNL keeps spitting fire! I love it. The harder my jaw hits the ground, the better.
Herion AM is one of my favorites but so is Worlds Most Evil Invention, Rock nails it.
I loved the Tiger Woods skit, as the whole point is to say that his wife deserved some payback after all his sleeping around; the teachers sleeping with their student sketch is mostly about the student and his mother’s reaction, the mother all claiming he is traumatized but he continues to point he is not.
The only controversy is that there are people who still watch this show. In Living Color, Mad TV, Key and Peele, Dave Chappelle, and countless other comedy shows that were actually funny are cancelled.
3:41 Considering that Charles Rocket got his entire cast (discounting a few exceptions) fired when he dropped the F-Bomb I'm gonna say YES.
Charlie Rocket killed himself a couple weeks before an SNL retrospective aired on NBC but his death was never mentioned.
Every one of these sketches are great. the “if the roles were reversed” argument is insanely stupid, and the mark is making me laugh so none of these sketches “missed the mark.”
Exactly! In some ways it's the fact that the roles are what they are that allows it to be funny.
The Irish Dating Game and The Rosetta Stone were hilarious.
World's Most Evil Invention is absolutely brilliant. That was a great episode. It also had the "Xantrex" sketch. "When I wear grey sweatpants people have to cross the street, which is fine"
Its called satire.
This video should just be called “SNL Skits That Offended Us”.
Didn't know that Mojo was so pearl clutching uptight.
@@61Slughi tighter than a ducks ass
That’s mother jones for you...the chick was audibly pissed about Verquonica which, I’ll be honest, was pretty dead on for some places
Why do I laugh at all of these sketches?xD hahahah
Governor Patterson was hilarious!😂
What do you expect when you have Samuel L Jackson as a guest, the man is a badass and has a signature line.
Garret Morris is absolutely hilarious!
I literally peed my pants laughing when I watched canteen boy.
I normally find very little funny SNL skits for at least a decade now, but that Rosetta Thai one was pretty fricking good.
These are almost all hilarious to me
Damn y’all didn’t even explain what the rocks evil invention was lol was it THAT BAD?!?!
I was gonna say the same thing! I started reading the comments in the hope that someone would explain what it was.
NavelAviator same I guess I’ll have to find the skit lol
I'm guessing it was some kind of "Rape-Bot", since they mentioned sexual assault. Irony is, if a truly evil person was to design something for evil purposes, well...that would do it!
Just watch it. Fucking awesome.
If I recall right it's a child molesting robot
Gonna Get Me a Shotgun is my all time favorite!
Im searching for all this sketchs right now, all seems hillarious
Heroin AM is one of my all time favorites lol
*Remember when they did a Top 10 list for this very subject! Well, they've done it again....but with TEN MORE!!!!!*
My favorite ads from snl: heroin am, e meth, verismo, xanax for gay summer weddings, and flowers for mom
Don't forget Rectix!
I've been clean for over 7 years but I still find the heroin am commercial hilarious 😂
All these are hilarious
