Join me as we open a 3 meal MRE from Australia. Items include Lamb Stew, Pumpkin Soup, Mashed Potatoes, Vegemite, Muesli, Coffee Protein Drink, & lots more!
Aussie here 👋 Watching with my wife. Saw you scoop the vegemite and we both started howling 😆 we knew what was coming! 😳🤣 Cream cracker, lots of the cheese (or butter if you have it) and a TINY bit of Vegemite is the only way to do it mate 👍 would love to see you try it again the way we eat it. Great review! We get these in the RFS when we fight fires for weeks on end too. Have about 10 saved up in my pantry for when SHTF.
Good to have on hand for when the SHTF, cause it will, sooner or later. Copy that on the Vegemite, mate. Next Aussie MRE review will keep that tip in mind. TFW!
The can opener is a FRED - ‘field ration eating device’. I had many from camps with Cadets. So useful. Vegemite is only a fairly thin layer with butter, or can be added to the meals for a savoury punch. We used to add it to our field rations when heating them up. Muesli is usually only made with hot water in the winter, cold water or milk in the other seasons
Haha I love it, thank you. Your version of FRED is a cadet version. In the adult version, it was F#cking Ridiculous Eating Device lmao. Best wishes Melissa, I wish you well. :)
As an Australian all I have to say about vegemite is to spread it very very thin, don’t eat it like Nutella, butter and thin vegemite on toast goes alright, or on crackers with cheese.
Try some cheese with a very small amount of Vegemite. Yum. It ALWAYS cracks me up to watch Americans trying Vegemite, the amount they load onto crackers and bread makes me cringe and I love Vegemite 😂😂😂
Pardon me for being a little long winded explaining why. But I swear by these MREs. I’m a retired Police Sergeant. In 1997 I was in the New South Wales, Australia - also a member of the regional swat team equivalent. Bordering rural and wilderness (rain forest, eucalyptus forest) areas used for growing cannabis crops with occasional armed guards or just crazy off grid people like at Ruby Ridge or doomsday religious cults. I had a bushcraft/field craft dive bag with all our own copywrited pattern digital camo gear. (The local defence force objected to us wearing their pattern camos). Long story short I took the Australian MRE at the time and took the biscuits, tin of cheese and tube of jam and shoved it in a day pack with some gatorades and a camelpak. Never when in the bush without them. Also took a gortex jacket, compass, map, (gps was a bit patchy at times in heavy rain or canopy back then) first aid, knife, lighters, radio batteries. The amazing think although rated for 5 years I still have the unopened packet of biscuits, processed cheese tin and strawberry jam tube on my mantle piece today almost 30 years later, I think they would still be fine to eat too.
You pricks are far too harsh on cannabis and you LOVE to brag about how you've taken half a gram off the street. Leave it alone. Go after the real drugs.
Thanks for dicing into the Aussie MRE:) Loved the review! Although i will say im fairly sure all us Aussies whept a little bit when you tried the vegemite 😂 even seasoned eaters youre looking at maybe thumbnail or two per slice of bread. Goes great with cheese and PLENTY of butter. Awesome in soups and stews 👌🤌 God bless
Hey mate great video, I've eaten my fair share of RAT Pack's (MRE's) and im stoked that you liked them. I would say that none of my mates including myself , ever drink the protien drink or even the sports drinks, and for the Vegemite the best way to eat them is with the cream crackers with the cheese and a little bit of the Vegemite. Being so hot down here, we just put the main meals on the roof of our PMV's (Bushmasters) and the sun will heat them up. Great video hope to see more Aussie content.
Hello there Me Ancient, it’s great to see you doing another video, I’ve missed your stories. That protein drink definitely looked a bit dodgy! The cream crackers are supposed to be eaten with the cheese. They’ve been around in the UK for at least 100 years and that isn’t an exaggeration! When I was a girl in the 70s, the cream crackers and cheese would appear on the table after your Sunday lunch. Vegemite is yeast extract, Aussies have Vegemite and we Brits have Marmite. The best way to eat it is on hot toast with butter and you only need a very thin layer! It’s said that you will either love it or hate it! I'm lookin forward to trying the Vegemite in a few other ways that folks have commented on this video. I hope I can remember all the ideas. TFW, as always, Gillian!
Great video. Our soldiers certainly are lucky to hvae such high quality rations. Just on the cream crackers being plain, they are usually used with either the cheese or spread with plum jam as they are very bland and the toppings add much needed flavour to them. :)
for the dried biscuits, try vegemite and cheese with them. The jam or sweetened condensed milk can also go with the muesli to make it a little sweeter. Vegemite can also be used in the mains to change the flavour.
I really enjoy MRE reviews (WM from the '90s here). Grateful to have found your channel on a nice but sleepless Saturday night! Bless you and your family, and thank you for your service!
As an Australian I will say Vegemite is an acquired taste out side the country. Best description is the taste is similar to a bullion cube, very salty. Vegemite can be spread as a topping, added to a soup or stew or added to hot water for a drink and jokesters will say it works well as an axle grease or applied to ones head to keep your hair in place in a strong wind. A good video on Australian mre's.
Vegemite is pretty cool, i had some from a friend and i loved using it in soups & stews to add some depth to the dish when outdoors, i also higly advise trying "Vegeta", its basically salt that has been mixed with fine chopped vegetables and the salt took all the flavor & moisture out of them, goes really well with bread & butter and of course in soups & stews, if you wanna switch it up and have the saltyness without the yeast than give it a go👍
Here in South Africa we get both Vegemite and Marmite a yeast extract, Grew up on Marmite but don't like it all that much same as Vegemite, I will only thinly spread it on bread and only time when I loved either was with grated cheese in a sandwich. When I cook then I use a lot of either for bit more flavor in stews soups or even Minced meat (ground beef for the yankees lol).
@@DerDrecksack87does anyone know the story of the azzy drugs trafficker ..the book "the damage done" when a thai prison screw ate the prisoners food parcel in front of him as punishment and thought vegimite was chocolate 😅 he was really sick.
As an Australian, I only use like 2ml (0.068 fluid ounces) of Vegemite on a slice of toast with butter. Tastes a lot better than the amount you had on that saltine which was like 20 times what I put on a slice of bread.
I just turned 70 in September & I remember Gumby & Pokey lol. Thank you for the memories. I was thinking about them not too long but I couldn't remember the name of the show.
The biscuits with the heart shape that you enjoyed is a New Zealand Griffins Shrewsbury. The one with the chickpeas looks like a Watties Big Eat. A good mix of antipodian products in that MRE. Whoever created this MRE is a genius. Well done Australia
Speaking from experience 1. I have never come across someone adding creamer to the muesli, usually it's mixed with the protein powder. That is a unique take on them muesli. 2. You usually mix the soup and the mashed potato together. That produces a really nice filling and flavourful meal 3. Steak bars are GOLD. 4. Jam biscuits are often known as "fuck off" biscuits depending on the shape of the centre. If it's a heart you share it, if it is a circle you don't. 5. The cheese clogs you up. Loved the video, keep up the content
Your channel has to be my favorite after school lunch channel, I love the stories and just seeing MRE's from around the world, soon I'm done with school and I will join the Crotian Army, then I'll try to get my hands on some of our MRE's and send them your way. Thank you for your serivce and videos!
Is not is used in every meal time if want. melted cheese tomato and vegemite toasted sangas, sandwiches, used in soups and stews. used on crackers and biscuits. as snacks...
I think a little marmite with the mashed potatoes, without adding the salt, would have been good. I've tried vegimite, which is essentially the same thing. Whenever I want vegimite, I would apply mainly butter on a piece of toast with a hint of vegimite, and it's palatable.
I was proper belly laughing when you tried the vegemite, less is more when it comes to that stuff or marmite or bovril..usually have it in an very thin layer on bread and butter. On add a little to an plain cheese sandwich. Also those cookies 'jammy dodgers' are best dunked in tea 😊
Vegemite is a thick, dark brown Australian food spread made from leftover brewers' yeast extract first sold in stores on 25 October 1923, it was first sold as competition for Marmite and was call Pawill, i.e. Ma might but Pa will. The yeast is leftover from brewing Victoria Bitter Beer and only VB. Hot buttered toast with a little bit of Vegimite is yummy, or Vitawheat biscuits (read crackers) with butter and Vegimite. Also a source of vitamin B1.
Oh the nostalgia! My dad was in the Army Reserve in the 80s to 2000s. Whenever he went away on a Camp he would bring home all his leftover rations for my brother and I. We would put the plum jam and sweetened condensed milk on the cream crackers. The only updates is the meals are in bags unstead of cans. The chewing gum used to be PK juicy fruit but everything else was pretty much the same.
Everything 'old army' was cool when I was growing up. Of course, back then it was all WW2 and Korean War stuff, but we loved having it all the same. We didn't get any food though.....just paraphernalia. TFW
Thank you for your service, Marine! My dad was stationed on the USS El Paso as a Naval Reservist. He served onboard the USS Ft. Mandan during the Korean War.
Everyone repent of your sins and turn to Jesus.for by grace are ye saved through faith that not that of yourselves it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Amen ❤ So uplifting seeing more and more people sharing the truth about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know we are near the end. The saints are weary but the battle is hot. We encourage one another with these words.
Thumbs up on the scouring pad. My old scoutmaster (who served in WWII on the USS South Dakota) was BIG on us scouts cleaning our cook kits throughly in boiling water. Later, as I got into microbiology and sanitation (wastewater treatment) as a career . . . I appreciated his teachings. PS - you need to spend two seconds with a ball-peen hammer on the rim of your canteen cup. ;-)
Colorado Here! Stationed in Fort Carson United States Army Infantry. I was in the Army surplus shop last week selling some of my belongings and I came across this huge shelf of MRE’s from all different countries. The first thing I thought was “Wow! I bet MeAncient would love to review this stuff! I am a huge subscriber of your son and a follower of you as well! Keep up the good work!”
I love Vegemite. I even pack it in my suitcase when travelling to US to visit family. Maybe Americans would like Vegemite if we tell them about the origin of Vegemite, that it was a by-product of the beer manufacturing industry 100 years ago.
@@MeAncient My family have that same brand MRE's. We live rural and are in a high risk bush fire area. We keep go-bags incase we get a text alerting us, and telling us to evacuate. Would you believe that the cat has a go bag too? He's even car, cage and harness trained too. We actually go through our go bags during autumn and spring to check food and medication dates, and to change clothing out for the upcoming season.
Vegimite is a copy of British Marmite which is a by product of brewers yeast. Spred it thinly on bread and butter and add cheese or tomato slices.A taste of heaven
I laughed out loud when you dipped that much Vegemite on that cracker. Even here in Australia we wouldn't put that much on a cracker, but we do eat a shit-load of Vegemite. As cheese goes, for some reason in the US, most bulk cheeses are made with milk powder, Here in Australia, NZ and the UK we use fresh milk, the difference is amazing. The only nice cheese I had in the US was Irish imported cheese. Finally, lamb dishes are coomon here. Most of what you ate is common to eat here. Thanks for the post and a few laughs, I loved it.
In my family we make babyfood by mixing Vegemite with soft cooked veggies! Pumpkin and Lamb are very traditional and widely eaten here in Australia. Great video, Thanks.
Those steak bars are awesome. The one you got sounds a bit harder than normal. It should be like the normal jerky, but denser and with more moisture. It should be easy and enjoyable to eat. The sweeten condensed is for eating with biscuits and putting in the muesli too
Haha. Vegemite. I just knew you were going to take a large scoop when you emptied it out. So funny. The thinnest smear over bread with butter or on the dry crackers with the cheese spread is heaven. It’s about balance. But your reactions were priceless.
Hello from down under. Loved your video. Had to smile when you tried the Vegemite. My toes curled when you put a lot of it neat into your mouth!! The way we eat it is to toast some bread, put plenty of butter on it and then spread a small amount of Vegemite. And when you said the protein drink had that weird coffee taste. That’s because you stirred your coffee and then used the coffee spoon to stir your protein drink! 🤣
Vegemite we smear it with butter on crackers or toast or even sandwich depending how Aussie we are depends on how much u have most often it’s just a smear, lamb stew is often served with potato’s as a winter warmer and cheese spread we have on toast or crackers aswell we buy it in jars rather then cans though
Vegemite is quite umami which is why it tastes so unique you guys also went a little heavy on it, you want to spread it pretty thin for your first go because it does kinda hit the pallet hard. South Africa also has it but it's called Marmite or Bovril and is slightly thinnner at room temprature. PACKS A LOT OF IRON.
Omg I really enjoy watching you and your sons vids but as an Australian I was yelling at my tv about all the different ways you could have eaten the Vegemite and enjoyed it. We would never have it straight up glob on a cracker like you did we would have had on the cheese cracker or a little mixed into any of your savoury meals for a little bit more salt and umami
Hey. As an Australian you kind of need to have a guide to take you on the Vegemite journey. I always see videos of people overseas trying it and they always eat too much in one mouthful. The best way to eat it is to make generously buttered toast and spread trace amounts of the Vegemite on it. I mean trace amounts. Like half a teaspoon worth spread as evenly as you can. It will taste completely different to putting a teaspoon worth in your mouth all at once with nothing else. It may be an acquired taste but it doesn't take long to go from trace amounts to having large amounts. The other main option that is similar to Vegemite over here is called promite. I personally prefer promite. Promote vs Vegemite is a huge thing over here. Ward have been fought, friendships broken and families ripped apart over this. Love your videos by the way. I love that you rated the Australian mre so highly. It has some iconic foods in it, like the sweetened condensed milk.
For first time users, Vegemite should be "sprinkled" like salt and pepper on cheese and crackers. It is an intense flavour that needs your palate to be trained, sort of like when you start out eating chilli.
Man that stew at the end had my mouth watering. Always wandered about vegemite but will say if MeAncient says it’s to salty it must be horrible cause your little bit of salt has always been gracious. 😂. Love the channel man and hope y’all have an amazing Christmas.
I do like salt. I actually have 'salty days.' I think it's part of my 'change of life' thing.......TFW and Merry Christmas if we don't get to 'talk' until then, Rooster.
Vegemite is actually good but you really need to be careful with it. Only use a little bit. If you think you need more, you have enough. If you get it right it's pretty nice. Especially if you pair it with butter.
Vegemite is vary salty you need to put it on toast with butter put a vary thin spread of it on on then it’s good taking a big scoop like you did was a bit to much. 🍻
As an Aussie who doesn’t like Vegemite, even I’ll say that if you get the chance to try some might as well go for it, just remember it’s the absolute tiniest scraping of it with butter on a cracker or toast. Vegemite is almost identical to British Marmite which has the reputation that either you love it or you hate it, no one has a lukewarm opinion on it (there’s even people who dissolve a similar product in hot water and drink it, which is just strange)
Vegemite is dehydrated beer sediment, flavoured with onion powder, celery seed and alot of salt. The bitterness you are picking up is probably the celery, as not a lot of the hops finds its way into the sediment.
I just found out about your videos and these are amazing! I love mres and I’ve tried a few myself, the Russian one was especially unique lol Keep up the amazing content and God bless!
Vegamite is a sandwich spread, (remember the song by Men at Work). As for pickles, if they're trying Vlasic pickles off the shelf it's no wonder. They need to try a fresh pickle like Clausen. Thanks for another interesting videa.
the jack links is usually still imported and used from the us, prolly why it was so stiff cause its been in transit and spent some time on a shelf before being packaged, ate the same ones on break today super tender and oily but good as usual.
Can confirm those bars when they’re the regular civilian store bought ones of that brand are usually moist and chewy, more so than the usual jerky and biltong packets in the thinner strips
As an Aussie I really enjoyed watching this review and so glad you enjoyed our MRE offerings, I have to admit, our main dishes are really very good.. the biggest mistake people make with Vegemite is they use too much and it's very overwhelming.. personally, I love my Vegemite sparingly on cold multigrain toast with butter.. 👍 that being said, it's very versatile and can be added to gravies and stews.. watching you 'scoop' up the Vegemite with your saltines I couldn't help but cringe because I knew what the resulting verdict would be with amount you used.. 😂😂
What a awesome video. I have to say I always watch UA-cam late at night. And I was kind of skeptical about watching a almost hour-long video before bed but the time passes by so quickly while watching your videos I did not even notice the time and enjoyed it very very much. You make the videos so interesting and always give me a Giggle . Thank you so very much. And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
As an Australian I can say that the amount of Vegemite you used was way way way to much for a little cracker. We generally eat Vegemite spread very thinly on hot buttered toast not on a cracker like that. Thanks for another great video
I am American and tried vegemite for the first time a few years back and had the same exact reaction. I also thought, 'this has to be a big aussie joke'. Thanks for the great laugh lol.
This is fairly standard muesli. There are many types with more fruits and seeds and nuts than that in Europe. This one reminds me most of a standard Orifo fruit muesli. (A Danish company which provides ration food and equipment for militaries across Europe.)
Glad you like the Bega Cheese (and they have a much greater range than just the type you tried). Bega is one of the few companies in Australia that never sold out and is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) purely Australian manufacturers left. Oh and here's a tip. Combine the cheese and the Vegemite and see how you go!
Adding a thin to medium spread of Vegemite (depending on your likeness for Vegemite) to the Cream Crackers is the way to go...& it adds that saltinessthat you were chasing. Another alternative for the Cream Crackers is to add Jam to them. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Grew up with MRE's as Dad was a Victualler (stores) in the Australian Navy. We would get a long green tins of them (expired of course) but still great.
Don't you remember in the 50's we had in America a product similar to Vegemite. It was called " Vita-Meata-Vegamin ". Lucile Ball made a TV commercial promoting it.
I had an aunt from Grand Rapids visit us in Australia in the 80's , and I remember her saying it was an alcoholic elixir, either way great name and thanks for reminding me of a great memory 😊
Great Video Lynn! I had my cup of coffee here with me and went thru the whole meal with you!! You had my mouth watering at a few points I will admit!! Thank you for the video! Take care and God Bless from the NC coast. vr, Shannon

Is not is used in every meal time if want. melted cheese tomato and vegemite toasted sangas, sandwiches, used in soups and stews. used on crackers and biscuits. as snacks...
Lol I was waiting for the vegemite reaction, that’s exactly what I expected :)
Wait until the second Aussie MRE review. I'll do it proper on that one. TFW!
@@MeAncient remember - less is more :)
lol Waaaay too much Vegemite on that cranker for a first taste. A slight scraping on some toast with butter is the best way to eat it.
I think a little marmite with the mashed potatoes, without adding the salt, would have been good. I've tried vegimite, which is essentially the same thing. Whenever I want vegimite, I would apply mainly butter on a piece of toast with a hint of vegimite, and it's palatable.
Great idea. TFW and thanks for the tip.
I'll have to remember the tips on the next Aussie review. TFW!
Plus I need to use way less Vegemite........I'll do better on my next Aussie MRE review. TFW
TFW
Nice to see another video
Clifford, TFW!
@@MeAncient Thank you for the amazing videos
Thank you for your service, Marine!
My dad was stationed on the USS El Paso as a Naval Reservist. He served onboard the USS Ft. Mandan during the Korean War.
That's some crazy coincidence there, for sure. Welcome aboard and TFW! I have another Aussie MRE to review.....hopefully this summer. TFW
Love MRE vids, just stumbled across your video. Subscribed when I saw the blessing before the meal!
Welcome aboard! I hope you get to go back and enjoy some of my other videos. We have quite a list. TFW, Ben!
Yeah, spread the Vegemite very very thin. Good on toast. Never tried it on sweet bread but that sounds delicious.
Everyone repent of your sins and turn to Jesus.for by grace are ye saved through faith that not that of yourselves it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Amen! TFW
Amen.
Love this. Jesus is King
Amen I love Jesus 🙏
Amen ❤ So uplifting seeing more and more people sharing the truth about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know we are near the end. The saints are weary but the battle is hot. We encourage one another with these words.
I'm Aussie but wow, such a great and interesting review. Really enjoyed watching this, Thank You.
Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome aboard. BTW, next time I'll do a better job on the Vegemite. :-). TFW
PS - you need to spend two seconds with a ball-peen hammer on the rim of your canteen cup. ;-)
Tip - For the muesli (or anything else) you can add a little sweetened condensed milk and get the same effect of adding creamer and sugar
I like it! Wait until the second Aussie MRE review. I'll do it proper on that one. TFW!
Oh man! I'd so love to get my hands on those rations. What is the name of the store, Jesse? TFW!
I love Vegemite. I even pack it in my suitcase when travelling to US to visit family.
Maybe Americans would like Vegemite if we tell them about the origin of Vegemite, that it was a by-product of the beer manufacturing industry 100 years ago.
Next time (I have one more Aussie MRE) I'll do it up right. TFW! I like your 'handle.'
@@vegemitegirl1971 That's a great idea and one we could (seriously) all learn from. For sure.
Yes, Vegemite and mashed potatoes are a gem
Sounds delicious. TFW
Vegimite is a copy of British Marmite which is a by product of brewers yeast. Spred it thinly on bread and butter and add cheese or tomato slices.A taste of heaven
I'll try it a bit thinner next time. I have one more Aussie MRE to try. TFW,, Tony.
Thanks for the post and a few laughs, I loved it.
little bit of vegimite with buttered toast, crumpets or muffins is good, but never put to much on, great video.
Next time, my friend. Next time. TFW!
I really enjoy Praying with you over your meals. Respect.
Watching people eat globs of Vegemite on a biscuit is always entertaining.
Next time (I have one more Aussie MRE) I'll do it up right. TFW!
In my family we make babyfood by mixing Vegemite with soft cooked veggies! Pumpkin and Lamb are very traditional and widely eaten here in Australia. Great video, Thanks.
That's the way to get the kids used to Vegemite, for sure. TFW, Megan.
Those steak bars are awesome.
The one you got sounds a bit harder than normal. It should be like the normal jerky, but denser and with more moisture. It should be easy and enjoyable to eat.
The sweeten condensed is for eating with biscuits and putting in the muesli too
I'll do my next Aussie MRE review much better, mate. TFW!
Haha. Vegemite. I just knew you were going to take a large scoop when you emptied it out. So funny. The thinnest smear over bread with butter or on the dry crackers with the cheese spread is heaven. It’s about balance. But your reactions were priceless.
I'll do better on my next Aussie MRE review. I've had lots of help from Aussie viewers on how to properly use Vegemite next time. TFW
Vegemite is a yeast extract from what I was told from an old girlfriend that was an Australian
Vegimite spread on beautiful toast with butter very thin …it’s magnificent
I'll keep it thinner next time. TFW, John
Louise, my next Aussie MRE review will be a better informed review. I have one more to try. TFW and welcome aboard!
I never had a father in my life but if I did i would of loved him to be like Me Ancient! So kind and selfless and just an all around family man!
Remember, if you become a father, you do it the way it should be done. YOU can change your family tree. TFW!
I personally like to have vegemite fairly thick but that's not how it's usually applied. Some things have not changed in decades! Love this review.
as an aussie (australian) you only need a little bit of vegemite on toast with butter and a runny egg on toast so good! 🤤👌
I'll be sure to use the proper amount on my next Aussie MRE review. I have one more. TFW
Lol as an Australian, you should have used a tiny spread of vegemite on well buttered bread. Amazing like that.
Next time (I have one more Aussie MRE) I'll do it up right. TFW!
Amazing and interesting video! I love those 24 hours from other countries, really shows the difference in taste from culture to culture!
Totally agree! Wait till you see the one coming up. Should have it cut and edited sometime in mid May, 2024. TFW, Kris!
Whenever I watch Americans try Vegemite it makes me need some. So delicious.
Carloline, Wait until the second Aussie MRE review. I'll do it proper on that one. TFW!
You spread it too thick for a newbie. You need a teeny tiny bit with butter.
I remember as a kid in the 80s dad coming home with leftover ration packs and fighting my brother's for the chocolate.
Rebecca, I can see fighting over some of those items. TFW!
Spread the cheese first it cuts the salt , then thin , really thin spread of vegemite , or butter on toast with thin vegemite , you will love it 🙂
For first time users, Vegemite should be "sprinkled" like salt and pepper on cheese and crackers. It is an intense flavour that needs your palate to be trained, sort of like when you start out eating chilli.
Wait until the second Aussie MRE review. I'll do it proper on that one. TFW!
He put too much like the majority of people who arent Aussies always do , less is more , got it !
I love your content and variety. Please consider adding calorie content and cost, even is estimated. Cheers
Hi I just saw your Aussie MRE pack vid, I'm an Aussie we use Vegemite watered down sometimes to add flavouring to soup, stews and gravy powder
Simone, next time I'll get that right, for sure. TFW. (I have one more Aussie MRE to review.)
So Zach, what you're telling me is that you have had Jack Links in Australia? That is interesting. TFW!
Thanks for the info! I'll try 'moderation' in the next Aussie MRE review....coming in the next few months. TFW!
Glad you enjoyed it! Melody, you are very kind to say those things. TFW!
@@MeAncient Melony... LOL and you are very welcome
Sweet a new video. You make my day every time you post. God bless you, Ace, Micah and everyone in your family.❤
I appreciate those kind words. TFW!
In the field, you'd probably holding back the candies, crackers, cookies, etc for snacking between meals.
The biscuits you're having are Jammie Dodgers.. a treat from my days as a kid in England. 😊
I'll have to see if the next Aussie MRE has them in it as well. Stay tuned this summer for that review....TFW
As an Australian I can say that the amount of Vegemite you used was way way way to much for a little cracker. We generally eat Vegemite spread very thinly on hot buttered toast not on a cracker like that. Thanks for another great video
That's what I understand, NOW.....next Aussie MRE review, I'll make that adjustment, for sure. TFW, Mark.
Tobasco, cheese and vegemite go well in a sandwiches, especially grilled with pepperoni - cures any hangover.
Those dinner cookies are Linzar Tarts. My favorite cookie as a kid. Plus those blank and white cookies.
That meal was lots of fun. TFW. I have another Aussie one coming this summer.
So pleased to see you return thanks before each meal. Your testimony is much appreciated. Great channel.
I am American and tried vegemite for the first time a few years back and had the same exact reaction. I also thought, 'this has to be a big aussie joke'. Thanks for the great laugh lol.
You made us wait until the bloody 43rd minute before you finally braved up and tasted the Vegemite, its for breakfast. lol
Vegemite, is made from leftover brewers yeast. Salty, full of B vitamins
I should have used way less, for sure. TFW
In England it's called Marmite and it's made from yeast, and the old saying is "you either love it or you hate it.
I know (now) that I used way too much. Next Aussie MRE review, I'll get it right. TFW, Nick.
Vegemite is a by-product from a beer vat, it is the residue left after fermentation.
I'll do a better job using it next time. I have received several tips. TFW

@MeAncient you always make my day even when your with ace and mika thank you for being amazing
This is fairly standard muesli. There are many types with more fruits and seeds and nuts than that in Europe.
This one reminds me most of a standard Orifo fruit muesli. (A Danish company which provides ration food and equipment for militaries across Europe.)
It was good muesli.
Great idea! I have one more Aussie MRE to review. TFW and stay tuned, Wade.
Vegemite on the biscuit, sparingly!
Very Sparingly, my friend. TFW
Adding a thin to medium spread of Vegemite (depending on your likeness for Vegemite) to the Cream Crackers is the way to go...& it adds that saltinessthat you were chasing. Another alternative for the Cream Crackers is to add Jam to them. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Great tip. I'll be more judicious in my next Aussie MRE review, for sure. TFW
Grew up with MRE's as Dad was a Victualler (stores) in the Australian Navy.
We would get a long green tins of them (expired of course) but still great.
They tend to last much longer than the packaging says. At least if they are stored properly. TFW
As an Australian(Ex 3RAR and had a lot CRP). Love Lamb and Vegemite. Cool show.
Next Aussie MRE review, I'll implement some tips y'all have given me in the comments. TFW, David.
I remember an episode where she promoted something, but I had it in my memory as a machine she was promoting......maybe that was a different episode.
Great Video Lynn! I had my cup of coffee here with me and went thru the whole meal with you!! You had my mouth watering at a few points I will admit!! Thank you for the video! Take care and God Bless from the NC coast. vr, Shannon
God bless, Shannon. NC coast, eh! Anywhere near Le Jeune? I was stationed there 3 years. TFW!
@MeAncient yes Sir, I'm from Wilmington. So just up the street! S
As an aussie I would say you did a bit much Vegemite on that crakcer. A light smear is the best way. Also worth a try is Vegemite and cheese on bread!
