If you’re able to keep the wood stove there it can actually now become a nice sitting area in the fall. Imagine putting in slider doors there now. Great extension to your kitchen area. Turn this into a positive thing. Never give anyone the negative they want to see. It’s also going to let that side of your home dry out and not hold so much moisture from the addition being built against a retaining wall….

I don’t know if anyone mentioned this but those cinder blocks that are open on top and if the retaining wall has holes. They need to be covered before winter, the water will get in them freeze and expand which will break those blocks. I am sorry, I just don’t want you to have more problems later!
Aren’t there cement wall toppers that could be glued on to keep snow and water off the cement blocks??
Yes I think their is solid ones that stop that from happening.
Your saw needs a good sharpening
If there are holes in the block and reinforcement rods can go all the way to ground you can pound them in at least a ft then pour concrete in those they make terra-cotta topper.
Don't think they can make you tear down the wall it's a retainer wall to keep rain water from pouring into your hoome.

Issac, you should contact your local reg or volunteer fire dept & offer the tiny house structures for their training purpose. I have seen it done in my area, it's worth a call to find out as theirs no need to save them and have them safely burn it down.

On another super positive note, once you are done dealing with all the legal stuff, all the deconstruction, construction and touch ups and repairs on your home you will have gained so much knowledge. You bought burn barrels USE THEM. The more you burn the less you pay to dump. A mini bobcat could probably pull down your structures and help to move it down to the lower level. It would also be way less expensive than an excavator. You might also want to mix up some bags of cement and fill in those cinder blocks before to much water goes down there.Another thing is to go back and fill in all holes where joists were removed and you put gutters up with caulking so no water rots that facia board. Do that anywhere you have removed stuff and there are holes outside. Chainsaw blades can be sharpened either by you at night sitting watching tv or at a shop, YT will have videos on that.
Gutter is a big job. To be honest, It is almost worth having someone come out and put it up and put the covers over it to keep out the pine needles and such.
You are really getting this tackled and the end will be worth it. Glad you are getting a light at the end of the tunnel.
Put a sign in your front yard saying free wood. The price of wood is high. Someone will take the lumber away. I am sure. Best of luck. ❤👍👍👍👍

Also get your chainsaw chain sharpened. I get mine done at Ace Hardware. I pay $8/chain for sharpening vs. $24 for a new one. I keep 3 chains in rotation.
Maybe an extra chain as accidents and breaks happen.😊

Isaac not sure if the gutter is at a slight slant. If it isn't the water won't drain well and hold water in places. That could rot out and mold the board behind it. You guys rock ✌

May be helpful to add universal fit gutter grid mesh to keep out leaves and debris from building up inside the gutter. Keep gutters clear all year to avoid water damage to exterior walls, foundations and rooflines.
There’s a lot of good wood there. You might be able to reuse some of it. I wouldn’t throw it all away

I know that it would delay your demolition but I am just thinking how nice your home would look if you painted that wall and with the new gutter on it would look nice and finished.
The way you two work, you could have that wall painted in an hour or two. It’s a change of pace from the more strenuous house wrecking that you are doing.

It’s been such a learning experience to be with you on this house work and all of your builds. I wish that you both would take your friends along on your adventures. I am a good friend. I have back problems but when I see you both doing that work, it makes me wish that I could help you do it. I have the spirit just not my back to let me do it.
I think the demo is on a deadline. It all has to be knocked down and cleared up by a certain date or he will incur fines. He's also planning to put the property up for sale so once all the work is done he has to do, I'm sure he will pretty it up then.

It is a shame that the Turner clan will be clearing this humongous "crappola" up and

you should try and salvage some of the wood ....as wood is like gold these days . its expensive and can be reused for other projects .
Looks great but the water weight needs support on the down spout. Or it will fail in your down spout area. Maybe a 4x4 with a T 2x4 to support the load transfer.

Issac, before you rent an excavator, you may want to price it having an experienced excavator driver do it. Sometimes, there is such a learning curve on renting and DIY, that it may be cheaper than renting one and it taking you twice as long to learn than hiring it out. … just a thought.

If you do rent the excavator you can always lift those wood heaters out and put them on a trailer and sell for scrap to recoup a few bucks and remember all the Rome. Wiring is copper so there is a few bucks as well,keep pushing ahead there is light at the end of the tunnel
