I bought an little egg cooker that uses steam to cook the eggs automatically to perfection. After cooling them in cold water, they peel effortlessly. A very neat little appliance!
@@scrambledeggs5323 yeah, an "egg genie". Along with an electronic pressure cooker it's one of the most convenient appliances ever. I wonder if an air fryer is as good as people say it is.
It works great. I've been doing eggs like this way before I saw this video. Don't have to steam though. After about 10 minutes in cold water just tap on the side of the pot or counter and they peel easily! Hope this helps.
For an easy peeling egg: Difficult peeling eggs are due to the egg not getting hard enough under the shell and/or not being cooled fast enough when done. The ice plunge solves the later. Simply use the first version here but leave the eggs boiling 20-30 seconds before cutting heat and covering. Reduce the overall cooking time by the extra time sustained in boiling water.
Great vid. Straight to the point! BTW I'd like to add, you don't have to place the eggs in ice cold water for 10 mins. A min is good enough. I normally place it under running cold (room temp) water for less then a minute then I'd start peel it and run it under more water if it got a little too hot.
An ice bath stops the cooking process so it’s important to cool the eggs completely as quickly as possible if you don’t plan on peeling and eating them right away.
I love how you word everything. Plunge the eggs into the ice bath. Very articulate. I love your look too (your awesome grey stripe). Anyways, thanks for doing such simple instructions. I never realized all the in-betweens on boiling eggs as we rarely eat eggs (egg allergen).
Thank you. It took way longer than expected to find a video for boiling eggs that was both simple and clear. I just want to know how to adult, not be a home chef. This video was even better than expected too. Saved from executive dysfunction, I have been. Will be giving this many views in the future, because I will forget again.

Prior to boiling the eggs, put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of fine Himalayan sea salt into the water. This will help with peeling and boil over control. After the egg is boiled and cooled, put it in a jar with a little water, and bounce the egg around with the lid on about 30 times (these are eggs that have boiled about 12 minutes). The shell should come right off, if not use a regular spoon to slip under the skin ( the side of the spoon that conforms with the shape of the egg) you will find a close to perfectly peeled egg. I do agree that eggs that are at least two weeks old peel better.
Great video! Straight to the point. Simple. Great editing. Beautiful voice and excellent presentation. Please keep up the great work and make more great videos just like this one! The shorter the better LOL :-)
I’m upset and out 8 eggs now. Didn’t work for me. Tried for 10 min eggs and they looked like the 6 min eggs. Also they didn’t peel well at all. I ended up with pretty much just the yolk by time peeling was done. Followed this video to a T but didn’t get the same results.
I have a question. Can I boil the eggs tonight keep them in the fridge and then prep them tomorrow for deviled eggs and they would still taste the same or will they lose texture flavor anything like that because if they will I'd rather do it now and if I do that would they stay better in the fridge overnight fully prepared OR ... should I just bite the bullet take the extra time make them fresh tomorrow??? I honestly don't know so I'm asking all of those deviled egg experts out there and cooking experts and how it taste texture everything what's best I really need to know. It's important so thank you please let me know ASAP. :)
The easiest way to peel an egg is to use a spoon. Crack the bottom of the egg and put the spoon inside the shell and turn it once, it gets peeled at once.

Steaming is a separate method (no boiling) that makes the peels come off easier.
@@Thestayathomechef steaming has no affect on the egg peeling process...

how long do we leave the eggs in the ice?
Do i have to put the eggs in before the start boiling or after?
You place them in the cold water and then bring the water to a boil. It's all demonstrated step by step in the video.
I did it omg
when my boiled eggs are done and cooled off I can peel my egg shell completely off in 2 pieces and it’s by basic boiling. God bless
How long do you leave them in the ice bath ?
Thanks
about 10 minutes
Anyone here sent by Dr Chris Adams?
Thanks for the tips

How do I know when the egg finishes boiling?
I think you just have to start peeling it
Literally been using my steamer basket to strain everything thinking it was just another spaghetti strainer 😂🤦🏻♀️
I took your advice and all 4 of my eggs were raw. “Boil to a simmer”
Did you put the lid on and let them sit for the appropriate amount of time? That’s a pretty important part of the recipe.
You say crank it up enough to boil but how high medium or low witch one its not specified
The first pan looks like a Carote pan. I can only find the dark colored. Where did you find your white ones?

The timings are wrong. Did 6 minutes, the yolk was completely solid.
These are hard boiled eggs, not soft boiled, so the yolk should be cooked through with every option, just various stages.
I don’t like the yolk, I hate it when it’s green and sticks though, thanks for the help.

Also a good way is to crack the egg by the bottom to peal it the easiest. For any method.

Instructions unclear made a thermonuclear bomb
Can I make a request?
The problem with this technique is that different pots (aluminum, steel, enamelled) heat up at different rates.
Luckily that part doesn’t impact the result.

I'm cooked guys 💀 (i had to search "how to boil an egg")
Where are you from ????
She said THOSE were easy to peel. 🤣
Other people on youtube say to put then in boiled water
Well that’s not how I do it 🤗

Please be wary of the first method. It makes the shell stick to the eggs and it makes it harder to come off. You also lose chunks of your egg too.
That's not what causes a shell to stick. Watch the video again for more tips and an explanation.
@@Thestayathomechef I did watch it again and I tried the first method and the shells were sticking to the egg. I could try the steaming trick next.

The ice bath always makes me laugh. Tap water is fine guys.
Tap water can work, but an ice bath works faster. It’s a matter of science and numbers. Water from the tap doesn’t even run cold in warm climates.
