I grew up in California. When I luckily escaped that nightmare 17 years ago, I moved to South Carolina. I used to take many road trips. Sevierville TN immediately became my favorite place on Earth!
I just got back from spending a few days in Sevierville. We booked a cabin nestled near the Great Smoky Mountains and I wanted to stay. The area is gorgeous and the weather was perfect. I would call this place "home."
My wife and I are considering moving to Sevierville. We live in Fort Lauderdale FL now. Will be researching all information that we can regarding home buying and all of the expense comparisons between Fort Laud & Sevierville. Any information and guidance is much appreciated
great video, thanks for the information. i live in Illinois and plan to retire in smokies, off the beaten path somewhere so i can hike when i want and visit Cades Cove regularly. i thought about renting initially until i can find that right spot.
Why don’t people in the northern states have their own place to live in the north?????? You don’t have any roots up there nor family ties and history??? Well we do and we don’t need more crowding in on top of us raising our cost of living so we can be your paradise or escape from your own state
Read those two responses, then read them again. *That’s* what “southern hospitality” is *really* like when the veneer drops behind anonymity. Even after 10 years of living in Sevierville, even with some distant family ties there, I was never accepted. If you open your mouth and something other than a southern accent comes out; if you don’t think, believe, and vote *exactly* as they do, you are unlikely to ever be treated with anything but suspicion, or worse. I was *so* happy to relocate elsewhere! Carefully consider if that’s how you want to live; there are other (even more beautiful) parts of the country not as closed-minded and xenophobic.
@@adrianricker I’ve always heard a lot of resentment from Sevier County locals concerning tourists, sometimes bordering on outright hatred. Please explain to me how you imagine that area would survive economically without the jobs created by, and the influx of tax dollars from, the tourist industry. Think about it. Manufacturing? No. A thriving tech industry? No. Higher education or cutting-edge healthcare? No. A high number of innovative start-ups? No. Perhaps some appreciation for the people who put money in your pockets and give you an opportunity to provide for your families is in order. The citizens and local officials there built a tourism-dependent economy and now you’re whining about the consequences. The choice was always *yours.*
@@altitudeiseverything3163 Not everyone wants to live in a "thriving" tourist hellhole. I'd welcome a weaker economy in lieu of the rampant littering, plumes of vehicle exhaust, bumper to bumper traffic, and gradual erosion of our quality of life. Another thing to think about is that the only locals who benefit from tourism here are ones with huge generational wealth. The average person is working some shitty job making minimum wage at some cabin resort or restaurant owned by some investor. Tl:dr - Take your opinion and shove it up your ass.

My wife and I are moving from Montgomery, AL to the Pigeon forge area. Do you know of any rent specialists that can help us with loans and locations that can fit our budget please?
O My goodness - Please don’t encourage more people to move here - It’s getting way to crowed and way to expensive - Before we know we will be just as over crowed and all the places these people come from - Losing our way of life southern roots and small town feel and southern Language
This! We live very close to Sevierville and pay almost as much for a 2 bedroom apt with no closets and almost no windows as my folks in Bham pay for a 5 bedroom house....it's insane. Only housing getting built seems to be for tourists and anything for locals has a waiting list almost a year long before it opens, too....
Not to mention the traffic and overrun places in Sevierville have us going to Knoxville and a town out east of here (that shall remain nameless) for more relaxing and successful retail experiences....
This is happening in Puerto Rico also. Wealthy Americans from up north or California are running there and buying real estate because the their local city leaders, are welcoming them with open arms. Helping them get nice houses and it’s running the poor people like us out. So now the Puerto Ricans are mad as %#^#. Because their towns are being over ran with white rich people and they won’t be able to afford their OWN land. It’s happening in Mexico too. Mexicans told the wealthy Americans that they’re a plague and to leave and go back to the US. Because the Americans are driving prices up in Mexico City that the poor are not used to and can’t keep up with
Make sure this is the lifestyle you want to live. Continue to watch our series as we will upload more videos. Also, email my team at info@oh865.com and we can get you access to inventory and trends and mortgage rates locally.
I'm a SoCal native who just purchased my retirement cabin on almost 7 acres in Sevierville. You, and anybody who thinks like you, had better understand that we have fifty states, but one country. My dad and husband served this country and I guess I'll live where I please. And you're lucky I'm bringing my Christian Conservative way of thinking with me.
I would strongly suggest to anyone who is moving here, or anywhere for that matter, to always talk to the local people who actually live in the area you are looking at. Videos like this are very biased. They only paint part of a picture. Do your own research and find out everything you can before making that major move.
Selling the Southern way of life to the Yankees. Now that’s a good redd add l estate company Bring wealthy northerners down south to make what’s left here unaffordable and change everything from what bit of nature is left, to condos and expensive homes for northerners. Good job

Same with us! Had a cabin just off 411. Seeing the Smokies in full foliage was an amazing experience.

It is Pronounced...
Sea ver ville.
Unfortunately not, there are definitely no locals I know that pronounce it that way.
It’s Sevier + ville or locals say SA-VERE-VILLE.
Hope this helps!
