From being a nurse in Call The Midwife to being season 2 showrunner and executive producer of Killing Eve to being Camilla Bowles in The Crown Season 3 and 4 to getting a directorial debut in Promising Young Woman that earned her an Oscar win for the script to playing Midge in the recent Barbie movie to making Saltburn, Emerald Fennell is a fascinating artist 🙌
Who would ever guess that this totally personable, charming English woman is actually one of the most wonderfully deranged auteurs out there?! I equally loved and was deeply disturbed by Saltburn. I can't wait to see what she gets up to next. And a perfect interview as always! Fun, but also insightful and a real glimpse of who she is.
I feel like Emerald, deep down, has a pessimistic way of perceiving that the nature of humans is flawed rather than believing goodness in people, which ultimately translates into the tragic ending of the movie Saltburn
She is very talented. I love her character in “Call the Midwife”. I do find it sad that she feels she doesn’t know anyone that is a morally good person. While many people in this life seem to be narcissists with little to no empathy or respect for others, I feel blessed that I do have at least a couple of long-terms friends that are truly loving, compassionate, & supportive of all God’s people. ❤
The fact that this is the third time Pike and Mulligan collaborate together says a lot about their friendship. I hope to see them together again in the future
His mouth seems small for his face. I find Barry very attractive. I think I like men who look a little unique or different but still hot. Jacob just looks very much like most men.
Also, people kept saying there were “shocking” scenes. I didn’t see any. Would like to add, a guy simply willing to go down on a woman during her period is the hottest thing. 😅 The character is obviously messed up, but that part was sexy and the dancing .
Am I the only one? I watched 2/3's of Saltburn...Was Horrified....Paused It....Looked up the plot online, read how it ended...Then decided to watch the last 1/3! LOL Just Me?
Also witty, sharp dialogue, funny, beautifully shot, unpredictable, great acting. If you simplify the film to nothing more than the "shocking" scenes, that speaks to your intelligence and understanding of great art.
Lots of promotion around this movie - but I found it repulsive. It could have been a good movie but ended up going for disgust and gratuitous, cheap shock value instead. Disappointed that this is getting so much attention. Also the description doesn't really tell you what's in it and you end up having subjected yourself to things you'll wish you hadn't. An hour and a half of my life I'll never get back, utterly wasted.
In the future, it would be better to name/credit film critics if you're going to quote their words. That Letterboxd review was written by Zoë Rose Bryant
Jake, this is my first time watching any of your interviews. I've done a lot myself. I've read and watched a ton. You're really, really good at this. Seriously. That was impressive.
I liked the part where you read the Letterboxd review. Would you consider making this a thing? The questions were great too, Mr. Hamilton. Sincerely, from such a huge fan
OK, I've watched a few recent interviews now and I'm calling it... Emerald Fennell gives female Morrissey vibes. Anyone? No one? OK! Loved this film, by, the way🔥
I made a fancast of saltburn. If the cast didn't play their character, I picked Tom Blyth as Oliver Quick and Jamie Flatters as Felix Catton Kate Winslet as Elsbeth Catton Paddy Considine as Sir James Rish Shah as Farlehigh Stars Mimi Keene or Anya Taylor Joy as Venetia Margot Robbie as Pamela Charlie Cox or Andrew Scott as Duncan Kodi Smit McPhee as Michael Gavey and emerald fennell is still the director for saltburn

She's the biggest overrated hack in Hollywood lmao, Nepo baby horseshit
Have you seen her previous film, A Promising Young Woman?
@@zarah_jane literally one of the most overrated movies ever made, a complete and total abortion of cinema

Now that it’s streaming, I can’t stop watching this film! It’s an addiction I never knew existed!
I've watched it three times - so far! 😁

I love how she closes the interview with her own question, a bold question too.
Saw this film at a film festival and my god I just adore it. I cannot wait to jump back into it next week! Emerald is a genius
Yes she IS

She’s awesome and funny and the trailer looks…dare I say, promising? Also, Rosamund Pike x Carey Mulligan reunion!
The fact that this is the third time Pike and Mulligan collaborate together says a lot about their friendship. I hope to see them together again in the future
Saw this last night just loved every minute of it saw it with a big crowd
As far as tagline's go, I feel like "don't get lost" capture's the spirit of the film far better than "we're all about to lose our minds."
Great, great, great, great, great interview. She's lovely. Super entertaining conversation. You nailed it again, Jake. You're the best!
She’s so talented AND so very beautiful - What a combo.
so fucking excited for saltburn! that best original screenplay nom is gonna pop up soon enough
It’s true about Jacob Elordi, he IS hot, sexy and so talented!
He's soooo... le sighhhh... 😍
His mouth seems small for his face. I find Barry very attractive. I think I like men who look a little unique or different but still hot. Jacob just looks very much like most men.
I’m so chronically online and a part of film twitter that once you finished reading that letterbox review I knew exactly who wrote it lol.
She was so happy Jake read that to her
Wonderful interview, really enjoyed the questions and also felt very comfortable between them!
How did I not see the first clue/reveal in the tutor’s office, and they just kept coming.
we buying tix to see jacob, lets face it...
She (and saltburn!) is AMAZING!
7:22 this is zoë rose bryant's Letterboxd review..
Did you even watch the video? He literally says the name at 7:36
Typed the comment before he mentioned name lol . Sorry
Jake do you have a OF page? I say that with admiration. Emerald fennel is a wonder. Pretty Young Woman was revelatory.
Promising young woman!
this film rocked. saw it today.
She may not be lesbian, but she has Patricia Highsmith energy in my opinion...and that's a good thing.
i love call the midwife shes great in it and im interested in this movie
She's incredible. Loved this movie
you are my favorite interviewer id like being friends w u and go out for a beer or something you're very funny and smart
Very nice interview.
What I want to know is why Rosamund Pike only plays sociopaths? 😅
It was a brilliant film. Genius
Don't you think . How insulting you are right Emerald. No sticky, periods suck.
My mother and others I know are definitely good people. Interesting that she doesn't know anyone who's good deep down
she is right…. deep down, no one is 100% good! You already see that in children, that is human nature
@Malena837 That's her opinion and I disagree bc I have good people who deep down are good in my life haha. Sad that you don't
Also, people kept saying there were “shocking” scenes. I didn’t see any.
Would like to add, a guy simply willing to go down on a woman during her period is the hottest thing. 😅

This movie is terrible. It’s just all shock value.
Grab onto different! Otherwise you will become irrelevant. Wow that was good!

Theme of movie is so important: Don't trust gay men, especially YOUNG ones. What a great lesson to all of us.

I wonder where her Zatanna movie stands
I'm very intrigued by the trailer for this movie still need to see promising young woman
I watched it last night. Really good.
Houses have been confirmed on fire and the main road to Reyk has been crossed by the lava......so its already in town.
I did NOT know her background. Thank you for that
