This is just a physical abilities test to make sure you're not totally out of shape.
This, is now way, prepares you for the academy. NBPD recruits get sent to the Orange County Regional Sheriff's Academy, one of the toughest in the nation.
You're expected to be able to run 5 miles at an 8min/mile pace and be able to do at least 90 consecutive push-ups and 100 sit-ups, prior to entering the academy.

I do plan on continuing school. I'm already halfway to getting my bachelors, so it would be quite foolish to stop here.
About the academy, it all depends on which you go to. The orange county sheriffs academy his ridiculous standards. It is indeed like going through a special forces boot camp.
Other academies aren't necessarily as stringent, but no matter where you go, expect to run A LOT.

500 yard swim in 8:20, 75 pushups, 75 situps, 20 pullups, 1.5 mile run in 9:20... You have to do that just to qualify for for special operation programs so this would literally be a walk in the park. Once I get out of the Navy I wanna join a SWAT team.

Whoever said there is no longer a weight requirement for the military and to maintain it must not even be in the military. My family is Navy. Im not saying this just because of my family being in the Navy. I speak on behalf of all branches of service. Yes there is a certain height to weight ratio you must meet and maintain. That goes for people who are also under weight. Also you do yearly exams to watch your weight. Also the Commanding Officer can call for one any time to his/her unit if needed. I dont know too much about Police so I cant speak for them.

+bob mar well I don't know why you would say that, the Navy has a chart for anyone to see on the internet. You can find it easily. If I'm not mistaken that chart is shared by the Marine Corps too. I understand you might have a lot of pride for your branch as do I, but I'm trying to make things non biased for everyone. Making statements like that really have no point. This is simply a video about training, and my comment. Nothing more.

But most females arent raise with mental toughness. they want support and happiness. Most men are raised with the mindset that "nobody is going to hold your hands or cheer for you so get it done". But i do believe there are some ambitious girls that can prove me wrong. The Police Agility/Ability Tests are WAY too easy for recruits. It really prevents weeding out the physically inept. The local tests are as follows: 440 yard run, various hurdles, 20 ft crawl, 150 lb dummy drag, dry fire a pistol 6 times with each hand, a 100 yard sprint with a maglite, all in 6 minutes and 4 seconds. This sounds hard, but it's really very easy. Even horribly overweight people were doing it in the 4-5 minute margins. The test needs to be MUCH harder to make for better recruits.

I haven't taken it yet myself, but honestly I don't see myself failing it. English is one of my best subjects, and I have graduated from a junior college with an A.A., so it should be fine.
