- To mark the 90th anniversary of the 24h of Le Mans, 11 legendary winning cars were chosen by the public and a jury.
They did 2 slow parade laps before the actual FIA WEC race would start.
One of these was this Mazda 787B. This is the actual winning car from the 1991 24 hours of Le Mans.
Driven to victory by Bertrand Gachot, Johnny Herbert and Volker Weidler.
Engine: R26B 4 Rotor / 2616 cc / 159.6 cu in
Power: 700 bhp / 522 KW @ 9000 rpm
Torque: 608 Nm / 448 ft lbs @ 6500 rpm
Weight: 830 kg / 1829.8 lbs

I would not have guessed that the Bobby work would withstand the weight of an adult male there, but then, he might know a few things I wouldn't about where the structural components under the skin are located

Very emotional to see this , takes me back so many years, when we were at Le mans, walking around the paddock , watching the cars being prepared , when life was better , with more freedom , more access and less restriction. I've got so many photo's of this car that I took back then and the other group C racers . I spent every penny/Franc I had to by a Mazda Charge jacket from the team back then . Still have it in my wardrobe ,in mint condition. The sound of these cars in the night through the trees at the back of the circuit to Indianapolis will never be forgotton. Tissue paper and a comb gives a good impression. Followed the car from being built in the week before the race, to being with it , as it crossed the line and after with the mechanics riding on the car. A tear is shed to be reminded of those memories. Thank you.

Fantastic. It's great to see all of those awesome Group-C cars. The 787B is one of my favourites, probably because of the unique Wankel sound:) Very nice to see the Le Mans winning 917 and finally the 905 shows up too. You must have had a wonderful time there!

Ia absolutely I'm love with this particular racing car. It's the most unique racing vehicle ever incepted and the fact that tje mazda team have kept its original colors and design is just the most awesome and beautiful and admirable thing in racing history. It's a gorgeous and glorious engineering masterpiece. Salute to this team and their loyalty to their machinery

Actually the 787B was never overly fast compared to it's rivals, it was just much more reliable and didn't have many issues during the race. There were cars in the field that should have slayed it easy, but they broke.
Awesome video! I'm actually in this video (guy in the blue jacket, also excitedly recording the 787B) and remember what a special experience it was to hear them all drive past. It seems you took that to another level :-)

You are thinking of the 20b early 20b models were used in racing but all of Mazda's Group C cars were 4 rotors starting with he 13j in the 767b then moving to the 26b the engine in the 787b that won Lemans for Mazda and Japan the one in this video. it produced 700hp with a 3rd spark plug and producing 447lbs of torque its also one of the highest RPM track cars ever produced.

what we need is a race series with a minimum speed. 120 mph would be good, and so we just let anyone design a car around that idea.

And i just noticed the specs are in the description but there is 1 mistake there, it wasnt a 4-Rotor unless they did one that had 3 and the other might have had 4 rotors but from what ive reserched, all ive found is that it was a 3-Rotor

the 6 rotor, (anatomically 39b) desiginated by the manufacturer (Pulse. Performance. Race. Engineering.) as the 6b. is a custom motor produced only by aftermarket engineers- further PPRE to my knowledge has the only working example- and no- it's not the engine in the 767/787
