I'd say that the C-9 sounds better than this newer car.. Not to put this video down, but Bozzy has some very good footage from Monza with it. Very loud
Among the group c monsters, my fav is 787b. The unique engine design with orgasmic sound. They say it can rev up to 11k rpm boasting 900+ 🐴 power but capped at 9k rpm with 700hp. The best part is, after finished the race in 1991(they won) the scrutineer found that the engine was still in perfect condition and ready to go another 24 hours. 787b lacked in pace especially down the mulsanne straight compared to the mighty sauber c11, but due to reliability they managed to grab the trophy and became the first japanese team to won le mans.
The engine was literally the only reliable part of the 787B. The chassis was bad quality for the time and considering it wasn't even the fastest, it's crazy how the chassis almost came apart. If it had ran for another hour, the firewall would've seperated from the rear subframe, basically ripping the car in 2. The scrutineer found stripped screws laying around in the cabin and in the actual firewall, there was a huge gap between the subframes. It was a good car but it is extremely over-rated. The 956/962 dominated not just Le Mans, but Group C as a whole for almost a decade, making it one of the most successful race cars of its time, but not just that. They rarely, if EVER retired from a race. It's a shame no one really cares to talk about how good that car was, especially considering it held the Nurburgring lap record for 30 years.

Mister, you read my mind.:)
Thanks dad (assuming you are 40 or more)
@@batialexis9339 51, this isn't Logans Run.
Yes ! Those Mazda noises were painfull after some hours . I prefered the sound of the 1986 Mazda wich had a tri-rotor . The sound of the bi-rotor in 1982 - 83 was ugly . Sauber -Mercedes sound is OK but a bit low ( turbo's on exhaust path ) . Aston Martin V8 sounds were the best ( ground and body shaking !!! )
My favourite machines of all time !!!
I had been working at Mazda and retired in last August. I never forget the day we won at 1991 Le Mans. I drank with friends all night😀
love your choices based on your content, amazing race engineering at its finest.
The 787 is the BEST sounding engine ever, hands down. That scream is just incredible!
It's not a engine it's a car. The engine is a r26b and it was more or less mimicking the f1 cars of the decade. But because rotary or wankel it added it's own flavor in. Wouldn't say best but definitely sounds good
ロータリーはホントいい……
Mazda, lucky to be at le mans 1991 to hear and see the 787b win
Was it louder than the loudest f1s?
管楽器のような咆哮は聞いていて飽きない。787Bは楽器だね。
Wow incredible, the Mercedes Roar like a Lion and the scream of the Mazda! Love it
6 Am right now but this sound like music to my ear
Same here, great era
Love the “Mighty Merc” throaty growl, but the unmistakable sound of the Mazdas rotary…. is spine chilling!
Now imagine hearing all of these beast in the same race!!
All of these cars sound glorious!
If I had to choose right now, I’d go for the Jag. Tomorrow, maybe the madness that is that Mazda. Yesterday, the Merc………..and so on and so on……..and every day I’d be right.
The Mercedes and the Mazda sounded best by far. Both are insane.
Clearly is THE NUMBER ONE WITHOUT ANY DOUBT!!!! My God!!
That 787b is a weapon, looks cool and in gt sports is fun to drive 😎
@242turbo sorry the 767*
That Peugeot #2 is badass AND it's from the very first Le Mans I've watched. Thank you!
The c-11 sounds like an Airplane from the Second World War an very intimidating. But the sound of the Mazda is unmatched... such a scream!
It all comes down to which sound you like. Either the grunt of a V8 (a la Mercedes, Corvette or NASCAR) or the high pitch scream (Mazda or Old School F1 with V10's or V12's). I love them all and have been fortunate to have watched all of them in their heyday!! Good Times!!!
The Mazda sound is the best I ever heared
I love how when the 767b shifts it goes completely silent when the clutch is in then goes back to a angry bee
Rotary master race 👍
ドロドロ好みだからベンツ好きだわwもちろん日本人としてロータリーも誇らしいです
神様の楽器って言うコメントが理解出来ました(._.)_
REの音が気持ちよすぎます!!
Saw these cars racing in period, thanks for posting, great memories
