    You aren't half clocking up an audience with this Robin, and rightly so. A cracking video. When R and I did Ben Aden we mistakenly went down that route to Sourlies that you called "a pig of a track", Can confirm...especially as the evening draws near. Stayed in Sourlies and the one in Barrisdale Bay, but on different occasions. Great memories re-awakened.

    Enjoying following you on this trail. Really enjoying seeing those bothies. Looks like you are well catered for in the Scottish mountains. I’m hoping to walk Hadrian’s wall trail in July, before taking on the Pennine Way in September. Apparently the midges mostly stay on the Scottish side of the wall, so hoping that’s true 😆

      Cheers Anthony, there's a nice selection of bothies on the trail. 😁
      That wouldn't surprise me about Hadrian's Wall, that's a walk I'd like to try too, I've heard it's quite difficult to camp as there's a lot of farm land? 🤔

    • @AnthonyJohnson1
      @AnthonyJohnson1 3 роки тому +1

      @@WalkWithWallace I’d heard the Hadrian’s wall path isn’t one of the better ones for wild camping. There are plenty of actual camp sites along the way but guessing that’s a worst nightmare for true wild campers like yourself. I’ll be stopping in B&B’s on that one. Not quite ready yet for the full backpacking experience but will so once I’ve got a few more trails under the belt 👍

    What would absolutely make these videos perfect is some musical accompaniment from some of the great Scottish bands from back in the day. The music you are currently playing is reminiscent of Stealers Wheel, but then there's Alex Harvey, Gerry Rafferty, Average White Band. Not sure how it works in terms of copyright, but Stealer's Wheel 'I get by' would work brilliantly with you wading through the boggy highland terrain!

    • @WalkWithWallace
      @WalkWithWallace  2 роки тому

      Totally agree. I would have loved to have some Scottish bands in my videos. The Vatersay Boys in particular are one of my favourites so upbeat and their music gets the hairs on the back of the neck standing. Alas as you touch on, is copyright and I'd lose the little ad revenue I get.

      @@WalkWithWallace Totally understand. I made a mistake actually .. the music you play as your soundtrack doesn't sound like Stealer's Wheel, but McGuiness Flint who I don't actually think were Scottish (but maybe of Scottish origin?). That whole section from A'Chuil to Kinloch Hourn is epic. Some of the most amazing scenery that I've ever experienced. Nice and remote. The bit after Barrisdale to Kinloch Hourn is a bawbuster only if you've never walked it before. But once you've done it once and you know what you're letting yourself in for, it doesn't seem nearly as bad. The bit from Sourlies to Barrisdale I found a lot worse, but I stupidly followed the trail marked out on the map. You definitely did the right thing by skirting up the side of the mountain. Enjoyed this video. It brought back a few memories.

      @@WalkWithWallace Yeah. I wanna finish off the CWT this year, but think getting another smaller trail under my belt first would be good just to get back into the swing of things after this lockdown. Looking at the Sutherland Trail. I've decided to take a bit of a hiatus from making videos. It's getting a bit old to me and is distracting from my enjoyment of being outdoors. Sometimes you just want to be in the moment without thinking about camera angles and capturing every moment. So many videos are just repeats of the same shit and it seems like people are compelled to put a video up every week just for the sake of putting a video up every week. Was at a bothy last night and it was nice just to enjoy it for what it was without having to preoccupy myself with filming. If it's all gonna be much of the same then I've decided I'm not filming it. A trail is good video material I feel, as people can get some good information from it. There's a gazillion videos out there of gear reviews, shelter builds, folks cooking breakfast in the wild, or testing tent pegs for tent-peg-ability (sorry Ray). I'm gonna spend the next little while just doing my thing without peer review and then probably film some little hundred mile trail first before the last leg of the CWT. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip. The Cape Wrath Trail is an epic personal voyage that will stick with you for the rest of your life. A personal 'Hero's Journey' so to speak.

      I know what you mean about the filming and UA-camrs in general. I get the feeling people go out just to get a video up, that's the wrong way to go about it. I know gear reviews are not your thing. 😅 Ray at least has come up with some original ideas.

    Peaceful and remote are two perfect words to describe this walk, it looked great, especially seeing the local wildlife. Nice to have the bothy all to yourselves and a well earned late lunch but no birthdate cake😳. Funny finding that camera mind, I do hope there is something on the card and you can tract down the owner. Nice short cut, especially cutting off all that bog land and a great place for an extended lunch at the bay. £10 for a shower, I think I would have rather braved the icy cold of Barrisdale Bay but the full English (Scottish) did look nice mind. False alarm for the tick, I bet Ian was pleased😂😂😂. Jammy buggers, you did fall on your feet, why do theses things never happen to me 🤔. Cheers Alan

    Hi there
    Just watched a couple of your videos of CWT. In knoydart you found a nihon camera. Back in 2011 I met a walker on Luinne Bheinn and we descended together towards River Carnoch. At one point we stopped for a bite to eat. We walked on and my companion realised he had left his camera. We spent ages looking for it but eventually gave up. I have no idea who he was he said he had worked for Rabbies and that he was now a teacher possibly at Waid Academy. I know this was 10 years ago but not too many people can have lost a good digital camera in that remote spot. Have you traced the owner?

      The best way to the bridge I have found, after a few tries, (including the direct route and hugging the hillside). Is to follow the riverbank much better, even when there was no bridge.

      @@garyredspeedster1389 did you follow the coast and salt marshes to pick up the river? 🤔
