Not only did they do a duet (more than one) but Barry wrote the entire “Guilty” album for her.

Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb exploded onto the scene with their "Guilty" album in the '80s,
    packed with vocal gems ...💖💝
" What Kind Of Fool " happens to be my favorite song. They absolutely killed it in this live
performance at a party organized by Barbra in the garden of her house ... ...👋👋👋
I'm so pleased, Luke, to see your reaction...🤩

The Gibb brothers penned this album and Barry produced it. It was Streisand’s largest selling album.

Always loved Streisands fashion sense..very understated elegance..and that looks "ageless"..she wore lot of Donna Karan ( they are friends).
Enjoying your reactions! Also because you have beautiful diction. As a lover of the English language that is always a joy to hear

This is from the ONE VOICE concert she did at her house, the selected guets paid each US$5.000 yes five thousand dollars to watch her singing, it´s an amazing concert with some wonderful songs from this once in a life time performer. Ms. Streisand is an amazing singer from a time when music was good, to each its own, but for me she´s one of the greatest of all times.

She sang Send in the Clowns at this same backyard concert for charity in 1986. Watch her subtle facial expressions as she sings this song. It makes one appreciate what an amazing actress she is as well as an incomparable singer. She recorded this song on her Broadway Album, and Stephen Sondheim even wrote an extra verse (included in this version) at her request.

Barbra updated this song some time ago with John Legend. It is worth a listen! She used duets as a way to break away from Broadway and expand her audience and musical styles. It worked!! Did you know she suffered from great stage fright and still was able to do that!! Now go listen to what she and John did with this! I'll wait!!🥰

The album "Guilty" Barry (and his brothers, but mainly he) made for and with Barbra Streisand not only revitalized her album sales, but revitalized the record industry as a whole. The album was a total sensation and sold so many copies world wide, so quickly after its release, it was like the records were handed out for free. Two huge showbizz names teaming up together was a big thing back in 1980. Initially the Gibbs were asked to "write a song" for Barbra. They wrote several and Barbra liked them so much that the idea for doing a whole album was born. The Gibb brothers wrote all the songs for that album. In fact, they wrote many more, so Barbra picked her favorite ones of the dozens of songs she was presented with. Barry sang 2 duets with Barbra on the album. The title song "Guilty" (album version ua-cam.com/video/Phh9B1-4EYs/v-deo.html) and "What kind of fool?" (album version: ua-cam.com/video/hfIR9NCcUKI/v-deo.html / live version: ua-cam.com/video/3vi2RSWKfRQ/v-deo.html). But most of the songs on the album had Barry's backing vocals and that special BeeGees sound to them. On Woman in Love Barry only plays the acoustic guitar. Background vocals are by Denise Maynelli, Myrna Mathews and Marti McCal. You should listen to the entire album, it's a classic. And the whole music business, including all the big stars, were starstruck by this duo as you can see in this clip ua-cam.com/video/pR1q_lPAzVg/v-deo.html. After this album, the BeeGees produced albums for Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross among others, for whom they also wrote all the songs. Most of these albums became best sold albums of these artists, too. This was from the 1986 One Voice concert Barbra held in her backyard to raise awareness after the Tjernobyl disaster.

Robin & Mo didn't help produce any albums for major artists, but were produced by Barry, Albhy Galuten & Karl Richardson. Also, the twins helped write half the songs for those artists, the rest were written by Barry &/or Albhy.

She did this concert in her backyard. This was by invite only which they said was like getting an invitation from the Queen. Everyone who was famous and super famous was in that audience. She got flak though because she sounded unrehearsed critics said. It broke every HBO record at the time.

    • @reddragonready
      @reddragonready 2 місяці тому +1

As I recall it was also a fundraiser. Those invited did have to pay like 1500 dollars ( pocket change, of course, for those invited)

    Love your reaction and analysis!
I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of these, but here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under:
    Too Much Heaven (R&B)
How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard)
    Staying Alive (disco)
    Night Fever (disco)
You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco)
Fanny be tender with my love (R&B)
    Jive Talking (R&B)
    Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)
    Tragedy (Techno? Pop)
    More than a woman (Disco/R&B)
    Love you inside out (Funk/pop)
    To love somebody (R&B)
    Massachusetts (pop/country)
Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special)
    Alone (pop)
    Love So Right (R&B)
    Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour)
    Lonely Days (pop)
    You Win Again (pop)
    Run to Me (pop)
How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B)
    Kiss of Life (rock)
    One (pop)
    Wedding Day (pop)
Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country)
    Bodyguard (R&B)
    Blue Island - live (pop)
Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop)
    Secret Love (pop)
This is Where I Came in (live) (pop)
The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor)
If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try:
    (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979
    (B) The making of the song "Just in Case"
    (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001
Some that only the avid Bee Gee fans might know that you might want to react to:
    My Lover’s Prayer (pop ballard)
    Letting Go (pop ballard)
    Subway (R&B)
    You Stepped Into My
    life (Funk/r&b)
    Children of the World (pop)
    Search, Find (pop or R&B)
Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung), alone or with his brothers (Robin &!Maurice Gibb):
If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman)
Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, Gibb wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and did 2 duets with her. You did o e, the other one was Guilty! . And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs.
Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, Barry wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD
Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, Barry wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals.
Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, Barry wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals.
Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent!
    More Than a Woman (Tavares)
    Love Me (Yvonne Elliman)
Come on Over (Olivia Newton John)
Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it.
    Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli)
Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer)
Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb
A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;)

One thing you really notice on this video is that she's never not a director. You know she staged every second of that, from how they posed at the beginning to pulling her hand slowly away from his at the end.

I feel like she was watching him closely and trying to compliment, rather than overshadow him vocally. He was probably trying to do the same thing but came off much more nervous. I might be wrong but that's how I felt watching them.

Amazing reaction Room, for me Sir Barry Gibb is a Top 3 Vocal Performer with Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson when it comes to vocal range - it is outstanding his live performance ua-cam.com/video/7niXSh7vWRI/v-deo.html and when you compare this to a performance,40 years later with the age of 73 his voice aged like fine wine at the Glastonbury festival in front of 150.000 festival fans ua-cam.com/video/ksJ8dtaxHR0/v-deo.html 🔥🔥🔥 simply EPIC - Bee Gees forever
